Blizzard: Here's bolt on power!Players: We hate it!Player: Here's bolt on power!Players: innovative, gg!
Yeah being forced into a single weapon type (cause one will always sim the highest) for a long grind has gone so well in the past, and have been widely welcomed by the players. It seems like people will cheer on a system if its not made by blizzard and get mad by anything that is. Even when they are essentially the exact same thing. There's nothing there that wasnt essentially in the artifact weapon system with the minor change that you have to actually hope you get the weapon drop you need.edit: Saying his examples are low power is quite a giggle. On top of that all but one of the examples scale eachother.
No thanks... Leveling weapon types sucked enough back in the day and who is even remotely wanting the Legion Artifact system back? No. So much no. More customization, not less.
The issue I would find with creating this sort of system is that it would be functionally dead for some weapon types on some classes. Like Warriors and Hunters for example can use a whole bunch of weapons but primarily end up using 2h and 1h axes and swords or Guns and Bows respectively meaning the other weapon specialisations would just be bloat. Then of course there's the issue where you end up using the only weapon that you can get to drop for you and your BiS finally drops but it's a different weapon type that you've not been able to level and thus are behind on it and then the next patch switches BiS again etc.Of course this is all assuming that if Blizzard were to adopt it and implement it with the standard current content stuff only allows skill points to be earned and you can't just equip a grey/white item and go kill some critters/mooks to ensure stable leveling.
It's... quite the concept, that's for sure. People seem to forget that even talent trees weren't the best of the best back then, hell I'd argue they didn't start getting a bit interesting until Wrath. We're even talking about talents you straight up had to pick. For Classic a good example are the trees that give you a straight up bonus 6% when using weapons or... I dunno, 3% against certain species like humanoids or dragons. One of these is just a straight up upgrade you wouldn't have any other choice picking and the other is... decent I guess? So trying to apply this to WEAPONS is just kind of a bad idea, especially when you consider BiS and all that jazz...
Hope it never happends, i find extremely boring the +1% damage with this weapon. Such a generic thing to do.
I would love an endgame progression, that has minor impact, yet is not timegated or is not a grind. Even something like a paragon system in D3, where on maxlevel I would gain some xp and get minor bonuses. Like 0,01% of damage increase. Or a mastery depending how much I use a spell or a weapon, like this guy proposes.
WoW player invented Legion artifacts and/or Vanilla-style talents.
Looks like fun, hehe this is not going to be in the game anytime soon.
Why isnt this guy already working for blizzard... leading artist or something with a whole team working in his ideas, srsly... get that man
Grinding for gear is fun, grinding for checkboxes is not. I know its the same, just different UI, but, i cant see mysekf doing wep lvl vanilla or legion style again.Dauntless has a similar approach in which you power level weapons after you reach max.
as many already said, is this not just legion artifact weapons? But with more generic stat boosts?Atleast legion artifact weapons unlocked some unique abilities/spells aswell. I don't see anything new in this, and the difference between a person with max trained weapon skill vs one without is pretty big.. +5% dmg, +6% attack speed, ignore 6% of enemy armor? That will be a notable difference. Meaning if you get a new kind of weapon, you will suddenly be a lot weaker and need to go out and grind random mobs in the world just to be able to be effective in raids/m+?Lets not forget classes value certain stats and effects from this system, meaning people will be forced into using specific weapon types. That we can't deny many people didn't like in legion even if they could just transmog their weapon.(i did not have a problem with it)If blizzard makes something, the community hates it, but if a person makes the same idea the community somehow loves it.
This guy realy needs to stop, he is just stealing stuff that is already made, for mounts/gear/druidforms he just draws over stuff and for this system he just uses the legion class weapon system there is nothing new about it
The community sucks now. Blizz adds anything and people poop all over it, someone adds something you like because it fit the way you wanted it and all of a sudden it's a good idea.Blizz adds a free mount - people throw a fit because it wasn't what they wanted as another example. Back in the day we had weapon stuff in trees for us rogues and people just would cookie cutter it anyway, there's no point in adding anything when people just find a way to ruin it. Covenant themed transmog pieces are another thing, some artist bust their butt to make something cool when they are underpaid and prob heavily overworked and the amount of comments here and on the forums just sucks man.
If the team that came up with a system as terrible as azerite armor said their new system was inspired by weapon skill from classic I would cancel my subscription without waiting to hear any more
So basicaly old talent tree bonuses as in Legion Artifact tree. The 2 things blizzard loves to avoid to "not" do any extra work.
No thanks, I don't want another legion artifact system combined with Old weapon skill and 5/5 talent trees. Blizzard will never hire this guy because he impresses fanbases with impractical concepts, he just want some attentions not a job or else he would have worked under their frame.
