What is the benefit of this?
I guess it's never bad to have more options, but I don't see the purpose of this at all.

This will be helpful to see who is benefiting from the aug the most. For example in the screenshots they show, you can see the lock and dk are fairly close in damage when viewing it as non-augmented, but when they view it as augmented you can see the lock gained more. There's a number of factors that can go into why that might be and being able to see that is helpful for some guilds. If you personally don't find this helpful, then just don't use it. It's an option for a reason.
How would it do that?
My guess would be that it shows visually, the impact of the Auggy. View non-augmented to check your Auggy's performance (akin to comparing dps straight across), and then switch to augmented to see what your raid potential looks like, and which classes/players are benefiting from the boost more, as some raiders like to break down their logs to see damage boost per spell cast
This is like when warcraftlogs changed all stars for classic to appease fury parsemongers just cause rets happened to be higher up on the page.
DUDE just delete AUG & PI or just ban details & WCL, im so sick of hearing about this stuff non stop in and out of game at this point , its SO BORING
