I admit my first reaction to seeing the pinboard today was, "WTH is this? More stuff cluttering the top of the page? How do I get rid of it?"I do not see myself using it, that's what bookmarks are for and they're far less intrusive. I already hate how long I have to spend scrolling down on the homepage even to get to the "Today in WoW" much less the news. Just collapsing it is still taking up considerable screen space. Neither of those items is "above the fold" when I open the site and those are the two things I find actually useful when I'm not looking up a specific database item. I was excited about the model viewer options until I saw what tiers the were for. Oh well! I've got Narcissus; bit of a learning curve and not as quick to access but it's there as an option.Just to end on positive: I do plan to continue to pay for this site because the overall value is worth it and I can afford to do so.
Well, I love it. I love the pins, and will definitely use them. I go to the same guides pretty often while I'm working on something. Thank you guys!
"Basic filters that any other website offers, but only if you pay!"I literally just want current objective news on what is current with development. Class changes, new features, etc. Race to WF, Community Highlights, long winded interviews that never say anything useful, I don't want any of this stuff. But I'm also not going to pay you for access to basic news filtering, so aside from being able to turn off CH and just continuing to ignore RtWF and interview posts, these fancy new website changes do nothing for me.
Customizable Home Page - Pin your favorites! This just sounds like you read the complaints that said "this website has a content-bloat problem and is difficult to navigate" and thought "we can charge a premium price for bookmarks with extra steps."Absolute. Joke. Factory.
Who has two thumbs, no brains, and makes a whole thing about asking for feedback, being super engaging during said feedback discussion, then turn around and locks the fixes behind a paywall, dangling the absolute bare minimum in front of the very same ones that gave the feedback's faces?WoWHead is just as bad as Blizzard.
These QoL improvements are great. I was one of the skeptics of the recent staffing changes, but I've seen things moving in the right direction with leadership actually listening to site users. As far as the complaints about some features only being available to subscribers, that's silly entitlement speaking. Sites need revenue. That revenue either comes from ads or from subscribers. I'm thrilled to see that those of us who invest in supporting the site are being rewarded for that support.
The blocks for the pins are MASSIVE though. 1/4 of the size and more blocks in 1 row, so the slider isn't actually needed or a list type style like the Blue Tracker/Recent News, would look a lot better to me. EDIT: I just noticed the switch for list view (missed that, oops), it is still taking up a lot of space on the page though.I think we all come here for information and that shouldn't be diminished by a massive interface. I prefer seeing more info in 1 go instead of having to use sliders or click 'more' buttons.Since I'm commenting here now, I have a few more suggestions.
how do we turn it all off?stop filling the page with useless crap.
'Other regions'That means that when we disable this, we wont see anymore China servers?
