In this first release phase, non-Premium users will be able to use the News Filtering feature to remove one category of News that they do not want to see on their news feed. allWhat's Next for Wowhead?

Comment by musicitaI admit my first reaction to seeing the pinboard today was, "WTH is this? More stuff cluttering the top of the page? How do I get rid of it?"

I do not see myself using it, that's what bookmarks are for and they're far less intrusive.

I already hate how long I have to spend scrolling down on the homepage even to get to the "Today in WoW" much less the news. Just collapsing it is still taking up considerable screen space. Neither of those items is "above the fold" when I open the site and those are the two things I find actually useful when I'm not looking up a specific database item.

I was excited about the model viewer options until I saw what tiers the were for. Oh well! I've got Narcissus; bit of a learning curve and not as quick to access but it's there as an option.

Just to end on positive: I do plan to continue to pay for this site because the overall value is worth it and I can afford to do so.Comment by GinnyHWell, I love it. Thank you guys!Comment by MydgeMy other main grief is that I often use the Database/Tools menus but they are so expansive and dont react well on the website which means sometimes I cant see the content as its off screen (eg going Database > Zones you will see Continent, Expansions and the following menus become unreachable). I like using these menus because I might want to spend some time in one area and see what the raids are, dungeons, quests, vendors etc.

I literally just want current objective news on what is current with development. Class changes, new features, etc. Race to WF, Community Highlights, long winded interviews that never say anything useful, I don't want any of this stuff. I was one of the skeptics of the recent staffing changes, but I've seen things moving in the right direction with leadership actually listening to site users.

As far as the complaints about some features only being available to subscribers, that's silly entitlement speaking. Sites need revenue. That revenue either comes from ads or from subscribers. The one topic I would like most to filter out is anything related to Race to World Firsts and competitive e-sports like articles.Comment by ShivaniaThe blocks for the pins are MASSIVE though. 1/4 of the size and more blocks in 1 row, so the slider isn't actually needed or a list type style like the Blue Tracker/Recent News, would look a lot better to me. EDIT: I just noticed the switch for list view (missed that, oops), it is still taking up a lot of space on the page though.

I think we all come here for information and that shouldn't be diminished by a massive interface. I prefer seeing more info in 1 go instead of having to use sliders or click 'more' buttons.

Since I'm commenting here now, I have a few more suggestions.

It would be really nice if there was a map button on for example the Polished Pet Charm page. Clicking it loads a page that shows the map and pin for each active world quest. Would save a lot of time by not having to click each page open to see each location.

Instead of having to open the 'World Quests' page for each expansion, it would be nice to have them all on 1 page with the option to filter out expansions and zones.

For 'Today in WoW' on the home page, it would be nice if next to the hide/unhide button there was a 'favorite' button and what I add as 'favorite' is shown on a specific tab for favorites. Or replace the featured tab since that currently seems to be exactly the same as the Midnight tab. This would create the option to see all wanted info in 1 go and not having to switch between expansions. Adding all expansions onto the bar there instead of having to click 'more' would also be a small improvement to me.

On the 'Today in WoW' page, below 'QUESTS' the world quest maps block still shows the maps for The War Within instead of Midnight. At the The War Within section there is no world quests map block.

Instead of splitting the top of the page in Dungeons & Raids / Events & Rares / Quests, maybe just start with a TODAY section and add the Daily Quest Reset and WoW Token blocks there, weekly reset timer could be a nice addition. Then make a Midnight section, like it is for the other expansions. Cleaner overview and also easier to update (or at least I think it is easier to add a new block instead of adding a new block AND updating all of the sections at the top for every new expansion)

It would also be nice to have the header disappear if all items in that category are set to hide. I'm suggesting this instead of having the option to hide the categories so if anything new is added that will become visible, which might not happen with an option to hide the whole category?

Currently the world quests maps block for Warlords of Draenor spans the full page instead of being a smaller block.

Now, onto Blainie:

Group removals should have been implemented in the first place. You rushed the "options" out to get a revenue boost. Be honest. All you are focused on is the dollar signs. I was here when this website started. FOR YEARS it was here because of the love of the game, stating facts, and presented as an encyclopedia of sorts. Now? It exists to fatten your wallets. That's it. Point blank. You're still pushing out Op-Eds, you've given free users ONE uncheck out of TWENTY FIVE check boxes, over 75% of which might as well be duplicate subjects, and you yourself sit in comments and, instead of listening and understanding the issues, you argue in defense of the issues' existences.
As far as comments? Have you seen the vitriol 99% of the posts on here have? Just the fact that y'all have to lock down the "sensitive" subjects should tell you they may actually have the right idea.

You can give Premiums a thank you. That's fine. But gd man don't shaft the free users with the same spoon you feed the Premiums with. Separate the thank-yous from the BS carrots you throw at us.

It's not bad to give free users some of it, but, at the risk of sounding greedy, again: one in 25 is a massive slap in the face. I'm willing to bet 80% of free users don't care about 17 of those check boxes. There's so many different combinations of 1-25 of those boxes that people want to and don't want see. Only being able to nix one? You might as well have not given us that one to begin with. It's like going to a party with a lot of food and drinks and fun but all you get to do ids drink 1 water and sit in the fn corner unless you pay $X, in this economy, where every dollar has to stretch because of things we aren't allowed to talk about on this site. (Timing of this is another, smaller issue, btw)

Ads? I could care less about them. There's close buttons. Get your money from them.

Finally, this isn't about wanting access to everything. I don't. No disrepect meant, but there is a lot of this website I just don't care about. I'm just saying something like 5 would be nice, OR 2 groupings if/when you let free users get those. Give us the choice between 5 or 2, but give us 5 in the mean time. Or even just 3 or 4. As filters weren't a driving factor in subs until it was implemented, you lose nothing.Comment by redbackhow do we turn it all off?
