On one hand I understand the necessity of such restrictions but on the other it's a shame to see design space limited. Something that got me into tabletop RPGs back in the day was the near infinite solutions you could organically come up with to deal with problems. I've also played a mage for many years in WoW and it's always annoying to know that I can't spellsteal a buff simply because someone else might abuse it in an MDI run.
Yeah, I've timed an 18 PF comfortably with almost five minutes left to spare a couple months back without having heard of this glitch and none of us are "hardcore" raiders or anything like that. We absolutely could have timed it as a 19 even but the guy w/ the key just got his 2nd COVID vaccine so he was feeling a little under the weather and more comfortable with running it after reducing it. I've never used the strat(s) outlined in this article w/ my team. Granted I've never tried PF at +20 or higher and I'm sure it's much more significant there and at the highest level of keys, but most of us won't even notice. I'd say even timing a +20 PF for the teleport next tier shouldn't rely on this 9.0 "strategy" to get it done. This feels like it'll affect people pushing keys on the absolute highest end which I can sympathize with but I feel like most players won't notice a huge difference.
Don’t you get a teleport to the dungeon entrance if you complete them all with a +20?
We all saw it coming. TBH even as a key pusher this strat was beyond degenerate. Good riddance, now the necrolord buff will actually feel impactful.
I like that some comments say there is no reason to do above +!5s and then state a reason. Well, this nerf/buff/whatever you want to call it will make a dungeon that I do not like to be longer and more boring which I learned to expect from Blizzard. So, yeah, its like making it obvious to me. I never paid much attention to what transformed me into a pesimist and Blizzard definitely played a role in it. I am sure I would have become a pesimist regardless but they gave it a push, that I am certain of. I used the bombs to get by faster to the second boss and it was not particulary easy because more often than not because the DPS in each PUG were making it harder to do. It is like playing football/soccer with the rule that you are not allowed to shoot at a higher height than that of the goalkeeper. You can still score but you just limit yourself and it takes the fun out of it. I dont have a tank or the interest to use my alt tanks to tank +15s or higher, it would be dumb because 9.1 will make it easier for my alts to catch up. I imagine it will be another 7-8 months for 9.2 to come out.Frankly, I would not be surprised if they would make the Necrotic Wake weapons unusable on bosses.
