After this weekend's MDI Time Trials, a hotfix has been applied to Cannon Barrage making it no longer deal friendly fire damage.
Freehold Hotfix
Here's the hotfix to Freehold.
Cannon Barrage no longer deals Friendly Fire damage.
Why Nerf This? - MDI
A common strategy in this weekend's MDI Time Trials was to have 2 tanks after the first boss.
Players would get Harlan Sweet down to 60% health to ensure that all players except tanks will be targeted by
Cannon Barrage
then leave one tank on Harlan Sweete. The rest of the party would go and clear everything between the 2nd and 3rd bosses with the
Cannon Barrage
as it did Friendly Fire damage. Since this damage originates from Harlan Sweete, this damage also scales with Keystone level. Everything except for
Trothak
,
Ludwig Von Tortollan
and
Harlan Sweete
himself can be
Cannon Barrage
. This means even the 2nd boss can be
Cannon Barrage
as
Cannon Barrage
has a massive range, meaning this strategy was dominate for making sure that +30s and +31s were completed in time.
Here's a run showing off the strategy:

Wasnt this a thing in BFA as well? Why nerf it now?
Was it, though? Care to link some video? At least someone should have told the MDI teams in BFA then, since no team up the the global finals used that strategy then. You can find the last BFA MDI Freehold (MDI Global Finals - GG VS Wunderbar - Freehold +21) as stream.
