Wrath Classic Expansion Reveal

Expansion Features

No Dungeon Finder – Players rediscovering Wrath of the Lich King Classic won’t find the Looking for Dungeon feature originally added in Patch 3.3.5. We’ve heard from our Classic community that the importance of social bonds is a big part of what makes Classic their game of choice, and we agree.

IGN interview
By and large, Wrath of the Lich King's revival in WoW Classic will mirror the version fans remember, though there will be some changes. One of the biggest differences is the absence of a dungeon finder system, which was originally added to the game at the end of Wrath of the Lich King. According to WoW Classic lead Brian Birmingham, the decision not to add the dungeon finder at all was made to keep what the team perceives to be the spirit of the WoW Classic community.

"We know that the Classic audience is more interested in long-term social engagement, that feeling that comes from reaching out to people, talking to them about how you're going to group, trying to coordinate, who's going to do what role walking to the dungeon together, trying to figure out how you're going to get to the dungeon, who's going to summon, maybe run into a PVP fight on the way,” Birmingham says. “And then you finally get in there and you have friends that stick together with you."

Birmingham assures fans that the team is looking at improvements to the grouping tools already introduced in Burning Crusade Classic, as well as adjustments to help guide players to appropriate chat channels where they can find others to group up with.

the vocal 1% ruin a game. good job.

Bad idea. I actually wanted to try out classic (wotlk) for a first time, but now guess not.

Comment by 1726

for what reason? so more people dont have interest in playing ?

who wants to sit for hours in trade and spam LFG X ?

Bad

Cool, only reason i was hyped for WotLK. I mean there is still the option to form groups in the "classic" way... no one is forced to use the LFG Tool.

Comment by salic

Literally the worst thing they could have done to Wrath, my interest in playing just fell through the floor.

No mention of how to fix server problems then

bad change

Agreed. The QOL of this is huge and they could easily just limit it to same server if the community aspect was a concern.

Comment by Zarroe

yeah that's pretty freaking lame.

Comment by CaptainDope

How else are we going to find groups? Trade chat? LFG chat? Both are infested by bots, sellers, and guilds spam.

Learn from private servers - not having RDF sucks. If you don't want to play with a random, just queue as 5.

Horrible :(

- classic andy's rather have afk mage boosting all the way to lvl 70
- classic andy's rather buy lvl 70 boosts

thats the only 2 options i can think of why they dont want the dungeon finder.
I mean.. as a lvling person.. its a dead world till lvl 60 if you wanna do dungeons.

Comment by Artek88

soo we have it kinda thingy in tbc but it gonna be entirely removed in further expansion which is kinda "stupid/pointless" its the system where other players can play together and removing that system is kinda way step back... just because bunch of classic players says soo and those classic players i pressume it is like 30% +/- of all players playing/encountered the new classic version of the game...

Worst change ever.

This is what it looks like when the vocal minority are given their way. Absolutely horrible decision and people, as usual, will see that in time. If you're not in a guild or a clique of people to play with you don't get to do PVE content in the current classic. Between the bot spammers doing boosting in dungeons for levels and the absurd requirements people have created it's just ruining classic and this enables them even more.

Oh, the duality of a WoW player. I personally think this is great.
