Dragonflight Will Have Season 4 With Fated Raids - Icy Veins Interview Recap

Dragonflight will have a Season 4 with Fated Raids.

The team wants to continue exploring catch-up mechanisms for loot acquisition to counteract RNG, but the Dinar system in Shadowlands Season 4 may have been "too generous".
Edit: Ion has clarified this statement - he meant that there will be a Dinar system in Season 4, but they'd like to avoid vendors being the default way to acquire the best gear in WoW in every season.

Season 4 with fated raids is One of the very few and rare L’s since DF launched

Too generous, okay.

Really dislike the fact they do another fated season. It was a very nice gap closer between shadowlands and dragonflight but that was one time only. It feels now for me like that they saw ppl are content with 3 raids and will no longer plan on 4 raids per expansion.
Either release the expansion earlier or do another raid.

"Dinar system was too generous" they say as literally all player feedback said it was the first time gear acquisition felt good.

Comment by MagicWagyu

The Dinar system was a pillar of the fated system in SL. 3 guaranteed items instead of weeks of RNG was an acceptable trade-off. Catch up sounds less than desirable.

Oh yay, another shot at dragon transformations that won't drop for me.

Comment by Hashile

Meaby we can get something for Evoker Legendary too? There are ppl like me who farm for it week aftef week and can't drop it.

Only being able to get 3 items after 6 weeks so you had to carefully make a decision on what you bought from the brokers was "too generous"?

nice for returning players (i'm not), and also for MM+ & pvp players, to have a season to gear a bit much , and clear easily outdoor content because really overstuffed

Comment by swiftpwns

1 year content drought? Oh no what should we do? Oh right! Just relabel all existing raids as another difficulty!

Who would have guessed this?
EA games can soon start to worry about its title if blizzard continues like this

Well, at least I get to take a nice long break before the new expansion because fated raids are garbage and I have 0 interest in doing them again. Also if they are hinting at removing the dinar for season 4, a season that doesn't matter, I don't know what they expect when subs plummet. It seems like the 2H axe legendary will be acquired by the same means as the Evoker legendary. IDK who was giving positive feedback about the legendary perhaps some people who got it on LFR luckily. But I am pretty certain it was universally despised by most Evokers how it was complete RNG to acquire. I know some evokers who still haven't gotten it with multiple mythic kills and heroic kills each week. Personally bad luck protection did squat for my evoker who killed Sark over 15 times, granted on heroic but still seems ridiculous to make such a powerful item boil down to such a low chance and pure luck.

I want this. It's a great solution for the end of expansion drought.

"Fated Raids" and "too generous"... Ok, this is the same blizzard.

Ok so unsub time after clearing Emerald Dream version 123456789, got it.

From what I've read thus far, this is the plan going forward but TWW won't be ready in time to launch sooner than Fall 2024. Seems like it's another one time only case. Regardless I do think fated season was very appreciated, it offers more casual content and is a good gap closer between the final patch of the expansion and the release of the next expansion.

Personally happy they chose to bring it back instead of opting to skip a fourth season entirely.

Great news! They’ve now said multiple times that they expect these next 3 expansions to come out more quickly than previous cycles.

Bad news! We are going to be buying more boxes more often.

Except it does not solve the end of expansion drought, but just replaces a whole main patch without any work on their part (as per usual in DF).
If it would be a fifth season for things like the 6+ month long x.3 patches then it would indeed be a nice solution, but like this its only a treacherous trickery.
