Another Warcraft RTS?

They could create an RTS based on, say, the first three or four expansions of WoW. Warcraft V could be an RTS based on the next three. You see where I'm going with this, of course.

They may build a prequel to WoW — say, the War of the Ancients, or any of the 10,000 years between then and present.

Blizzard could restrict the current workings of WoW after Wrath and continue on from where they are presently with an RTS. This is the least likely, since WoW is so popular, and it seems unlikely that they would cut off progression in WoW to facilitate the creation of a new, unproven game. Making more expansions for WoW is also more cost-effective, since they don't really have to make a completely new game (a new expansion, but that's just adding to the code for the current WoW, rather than coding a new engine and such).

It could be in the far, far future and having nothing to do with the current timeline. This is probably the second least likely, as it spoils the current timeline for us. :)

It would be set on other planets with other races; a Warcraft IV could explore the titans or the nathrezim or what not. This seems unlikely in the perspective that Blizzard probably shouldn't abandon the races we already know and love (and we all love the night elves, don't we???), but otherwise, could work.

Warcraft has 1 more expansion. All good things must come to an end, as they say, and WoW is no exception. Blizzard knows this and I think this is where the "next gen mmo" that's in development comes in. When the time comes, Blizzard will want to siphon all the players from WoW to the next Blizzard game. I still love WoW--I'm no hater--but I believe the game won't last but ~4 more years; which is still a very long time for one game to stay immensely popular.

At this point, they release Warcraft IV which will continue the WoW story lines and characters. I don't really think WIV makes sense until this as anything concurrent with WoW would be awkward or a complete departure from what the players are likely to want (like a story line in the past when most races aren't even known).

I also don't think WIV will be forthcoming in the RTS genre unless Starcraft proves the RTS is still a popular genre (I can't think of many recent games in this format).

At this point, it may be time for Diablo IV since I'm sure Diablo III will do well.

I could see less focus on lore and more of a push towards playable races and maps for warcraft 4. Pick out a few important battles or storylines and add some unlockable content. Create a new continent that will crossover to a future WoW expansion. A prequel to WoW, or even a prequel to War1 would be the best option for lore-interested players. Blizzard should and can use the opportunity gained by producing more than one MMO to gather even more players to the market that they now dominate with WoW. While I think a lot will split between the two, there's also the possibility that should they come out with a second, your monthly subscription for WoW could also apply to this MMO.
They've already said that they would like to produce one expansion a year; obviously that fell through, with two years between Wrath and Crusade, but if they can maintain two years a pop, that alone will net us another expansion and probably development of another within the time-frame you have in mind. Though, yet again, I disagree; WoW's gonna' keep on truckin' until Blizzard starts noticing subscription numbers dipping, in which case they start looking for radical new directions to take the game, rather than cutting the game off completely.
A storyline in the past when most races aren't even known? I don't know about saying that; the night elves have existed for 10-20k some odd years, the 'earthen' (predecessors to the dwarfs) since the beginning of Azeroth, humans for 3k some odd years... etc, etc, etc. As earlier, I think there's potential to develop those points in the timeline with another RTS.
