Best Havoc Demon Hunter Double Legendaries for Sepulcher of the First Ones
Our choice for raiding is pretty straightforward and in the current state of balance not really flexible.
Venthyr with
Agony Gaze &
Darkglare Boon will be our best combo for most of the raid encounters in the coming patch. It combines our best Single Target covenant along with our best Single target legendary in
Agony Gaze. With patch 9.2 we can add an extra legendary which in most cases will be
Darkglare Boon. This will help our sustained damage as well as potentially extend our
Sinful Brand. In specific high cleave scenarios like for the Prototype Pantheon encounter
Collective Anguish might replace
Darkglare Boon as our second legendary and be an interesting choice due to the added cleave it will provide us.
Best Havoc Demon Hunter Double Legendaries for Mythic+
When talking M+ we have a bit more choice. Our default choice will likely be:
Night Fae with
Blazing Slaughter &
Collective Anguish. This setup will be a great one size fits all setup for all our M+ needs, it allows great burst from both
Blazing Slaughter and
First Strike along with great sustain for the bosses and prolonged pulls. If you want to truly min/max your damage you can also replace
Collective Anguish by
Burning Wound. While increasing your overall damage especially in higher level keystones where pulls will last longer by spreading
Burning Wound to multiple targets and maintaining the dot up, this legendary will increase the skill level required to optimize your damage. Venthyr with
Agony Gaze &
Collective Anguish will also be an interesting choice for M+, especially for Theater of Pain due to the pacing and the nature of the dungeon.
Overall the double legendary system will help havoc demon hunters round out our existing kit while not being very disruptive to the covenants and legendaries we are already used to play with.
In 9.2, Vengeance Demon Hunters will be looking to use one of a few combinations for the vast majority of content. Keep in mind that while these are likely to be the optimal combinations in given content, in the vast majority of cases you will still be able to play with other selections. Before we get into the specifics, I must point out that unfortunately, Night Fae and Necrolord are too far behind to be even considered for optimal play, as their class legendaries offer nowhere near the power of Kyrian, and the covenants were not particularly competitive going into the patch. While they are still viable in most situations, they are not recommended. Similarly, Venthyr is effectively restricted to only pure ST situations as a possibility due to lack of interaction with our tier set.
Best Vengeance Demon Hunter Double Legendaries for Sepulcher of the First Ones
Our old mainstay, this is likely to remain the best option for progression fights where we want to maximize
Fiery Brand for the most survivability. As in the past couple tiers, this will provide the most defense available on any fights up to 6 targets, with extra effectiveness against magical damage by approximately doubling our uptime on
Fiery Brand without changing our rotation. It's boring, but effective.
This will likely be the standard covenant and legendary combination for the majority of fights in Sepulcher on farm. It provides a good mix of defense and offense, though the playstyle with
Spirit Bomb can be harder to manage, especially on fights with heavy movement. It provides the highest DPS gain when played properly in all situations, while maintaining high
Metamorphosis uptime for physical fights. It's not particularly powerful compared to our other legendaries, but simply balanced all around while being the only legendary that gains a benefit from our tier set - the cooldown reduction provided allows for more casts of
Fel Devastation, somewhat balancing out the inherent randomness in the proc.
Another option that will likely provide similar damage output to the above in most raid fights, but is much easier to play rotationally. This is particularly the case in ST fights such as Skolex, where we won't be generating as many souls for
Fel Devastation cooldown reduction from our tier set, making
Darkglare Boon less consistent.
A possible combination for purely ST fights, this relies heavily on good rolls, but has potential to be the top damage for ST fights. However, as soon as there are any secondary targets, this combination will immediately fall behind any Kyrian combinations.
Best Vengeance Demon Hunter Double Legendaries for Mythic+
There's really only one choice here for most dungeons, and this is it. The combination of extra
Metamorphosis uptime and not introducing added complexity into our rotation any further than necessary when the tier set already causes a GCD conflict is what makes this the best option. It provides high damage with good defensive uptime.
The combination of choice in dungeons with low enemy target counts such as
Theater of Pain, where we generally won't be pulling more than 5 targets. The survivability provided by extra
Fiery Brand ends up being far more valuable, and the difference in DPS is quite minimal.
Once again, this provides similar damage to our default pick, but is much simpler to play. It will fall behind on larger pulls in most dungeons, which puts it a solid tier behind, but if you prefer not to play
Spirit Bomb, this will provide close enough levels of damage without having to worry about making rotational errors. However, it is somewhat behind defensively, and thus won't be the standard recommendation any more.
