What is it good for?

Garrison Leveling -Work Orders reward Recursos de la fortaleza.

Titles - completing work orders at your Lumber Mill awards achievements that grant titles: completing 50 Work Orders awards Cortando más troncos is for 50 Work Orders and grants the title. After completing 100 Work Orders, you are awarded the achievement Cortando más troncos todavía. It grants the title for Alliance and for Horde.

Toys - gives you the ability to loot Tomo de piel de corteza, which drops from Ancestro petrificado that are found in specific locations in Draenor. It starts the quest Legado de los Ancestros. This quest requires you to kill and loot four unique Draenor ancients. These are spawned by chopping down Level 2 Trees (Medium Timber). Completing this quest awards the Aspecto de asesino de árboles, a vanity item that transforms you into a tree unique to the Draenor zone you are in. There are six styles total.

Costs and Blueprints

Medium Building Upgrade costs: Level 1 is 0 Recursos de la fortaleza and , Level 2 is 0 Recursos de la fortaleza and , Level 3 is 0 Recursos de la fortaleza and . In Patch 6.1, this does not cost Garrison Resources.

Level 1 blueprints all become available to you when your Garrison reaches Tier 2.

Level 2 Blueprints for Medium buildings: Reach level 98 or complete the Pináculos de Arak Outpost quests. Blueprints cost or free if you have Notas de ensamblaje del puesto de avanzada, which you get on completing your Outpost quest chains.

Level 3 blueprints unlock when you are level 100 and have completed Mejorando el aserradero. This achievement requires you to complete 75 Lumber Mill orders as well as the quests Reducción de personal and Legado de los Ancestros (more details below). The blueprint then costs to purchase.

Level 3 blueprints are account-wide. Once you unlock one on a character, it’s available to all characters on your account.

What Does it Offer?

Allows you to mark small trees in Draenor for harvest. Harvested Timber can be converted to work orders for Garrison supplies. 7 work orders: 20 Madera for 20 Recursos de la fortaleza

Allows you to mark medium trees for additional Timber.

Allows you to mark large trees for even more Timber.

Timber and Logging

You'll begin with Empezando a talar de a poquito, which teaches you Leñar. For Alliance players, run just south out of your Garrison to find the Small Timber. For Horde players, fly to Stonefang Outpost and it's by the "g" in the map. This quest rewards 0 Cristal de ápices as well as the ability to chop Small Timber. The followup quest, De madera a dinero, has you collect 10 Madera for your first order. This quest rewards 0 Cristal de ápices.

At level 2, you are given a quest to find the next size of Timber, Hojas más afiladas, maderos más grandes.. For Alliance players, the tree is located at 30.5, 30.7 in Shadowmoon Valley, to the northwest of the "A" in Anguish on the map. For Horde players, the tree is located at 45.2, 49.2 to the north of Stonefang Outpost. This quest rewards 0 Cristal de ápices as well as the ability to chop Timber.

At level 3, you are given a quest to chop down Large Timber, Árbolcidio. For Alliance players, the tree is located at 33, 25 in Shadowmoon Valley, up the hill behind Kuu'rat. For Horde players, the tree is located at 63, 77 at the southern part of Grom'gar. This quest rewards 0 Cristal de ápices as well as the ability to chop Large Timber.

Madera pequeña contains ~5 Timber.

Madera contains ~10 Timber.

Madera grande contains ~20 Timber.

Achievements and Titles

Cortando troncos is for 10 Work Orders at the Lumber Mill.

Cortando más troncos is for 50 Work Orders and rewards the Lumberjack title.

Cortando más troncos todavía is for 100 Work Orders. It rewards the Commandojack title for Alliance and Timber Lord for Horde.

Vanity Items and Quests

Tomo de piel de corteza drops from Ancestro petrificado, which are found in specific locations in Draenor, are marked on the minimap with a yellow dot. It starts the quest Legado de los Ancestros.

Legado de los Ancestros requires you to kill and loot four unique Draenor ancients. These are spawned by chopping down Level 2 Trees (Medium Timber). Each Ancient can spawn anywhere in their designated zone once you chop down a Timber:

This is a very good building to start your garrison resource farm. Almost a must-have for any first leveling toon since you can get those pesky resources that you will surely need in the future!

To clarify how to get a level 3 lumber mill:

You must locate a Ancestro petrificado to chop down (warning, you will have to fight him) which in turn will give you Tomo de piel de corteza. This quest item will then grant you this quest Legado de los Ancestros which is used to get Mejorando el aserradero along with placing 75 work orders at your lumber mill to unlock your level 3 blueprint plans for Aserradero, nivel 3.

Regarding El ascenso y la caída de Industrias Barov: Weldon Barov, me and several friends found the fallen tree in Talador at coords 73,28. It´s shown in ur mini map as a timber node. This was Alliance side.

Just wanted to chime in and let everybody know that level 3 is required to assign a follower. As far as I can tell this is the only follower that can be assigned:

There's no mention of a lumber mill bonus for Alexi and at level 2 I do not have the option to assign anyone. Only 30 more work orders to go...:P

Are the "timber" trees just random? WoW-Head does not have pages for the trees, and I am having a very difficult time with getting the quests for the Mill done becuase I can't seem to find the right size trees. I wish there was an addon to help find tree spawns.

Weldon Barov is a follower that hangs out in your Lumber Mill and sells Spring-loaded Spike Trap.

He also gives the quest Reduction in Force, which is one of the three steps required for the achievement that unlocks your Garrison Blueprint: Lumber Mill, Level 3 (that achievement being Upgrading the Mill).

START 75 work orders at your Lumber Mill
Complete Reduction in Force (cut down lumber until Alexi Barov spawns. Kill Alexii and loot his head.)
Complete Legacy of the Ancients (which starts from a Barkskin Tome, which is dropped by a Petrified Ancient.)

FINDING WELDON BAROV :
From your searches, it is apparent that he can be found in many zones and locations. I have raised 2 characters since the expansion and raised 4 in the beta testing phase. All of my character got Barov in the same place.

Once you build a Lumber Mill and have the ability to cut down Small Timber, you can save Weldon Barov and recruit him to your garrison. It seems Weldon Barov had a tree fall upon him and he needs you to remove the Fallen Tree with your Lumber Mill skill.

It seems the Fallen Tree can be found in many places and many zones. I recommend:

/way Talador 73.7, 64.0 Weldon Barov (Fallen Tree - Requires Lumber Mill - Be Patient)

Fly to Terrokar Refuge, Talador and across the lake/river to the southeast (just a few yards) is the Fallen Tree (unsure of respawn timer). You use your lumber skill on the Fallen Tree and loot whatever item is offered and wait for Weldon Barov to appear. Eventually he will appear, you talk to him and he becomes your follower. When you return to your garrison, Weldon Barov will be standing at the front area of your Lumber Mill and offer you the quest Reduction in Force.

Probably a dumb question, but I was under the impression that finishing this achievement would give you the level 3 blueprint. Do you still have to BUY the blueprint after you get this achievement? I finished it and can't find the blueprint anywhere but the vendor next to my drafting table.

When Phylarch the Evergreen spawns, he is aggresive. Do i need to take him down or just go away? Cause its written here that after a few times he turns friendly...does he need to be killed or not?

I have a silly question - what happens (visuals/emotes/chat) when you harvest Large Timber?

I was highly amused with Medium Timber, when the guy lowers down on a rope from a mini-copter, and his chat emotes make me snicker. However, I don't plan to get my Lumber Mill to lvl 3, as I'm going to toss it once I have enough resources to upgrade everything. I've looked everywhere online, and can't find a recording/video/script of the Large Timber emote, and I'm curious.

Shadowmoon obviously has nothing but small timber, i assume at least.

i can find pretty much no information on where to find the different sizes. a poster above says any size can spawn at any point, but no, shadowmoon spawns are nothing but small timber.

ive seen all three sizes in nagrand. but its incredibly frustrating trying to farm timber in shadowmoon, the spawn points are practically camped.

so, what zones have what size?

Probably a dumb question, but can Weldon Barov be obtained after getting the lumber mill to level 2? Cause in 2 of my toons i found him quite easy and almost instant, and i had a level 1 mill, on another toon i upgraded to level 2 faster and i cut i ton of timber and small timber in every zone and no Weldon Barov on sight.... Is it only bad luck or....?

To my opinion the Lumber Mill is the most valuable building for your starting garrison and you should build and upgrade it as soon as you can. Make sure you farm as much timber as you need to be able to max out your daily work orders, that way you'll have maximum benefit of your mill.

Farming timber is easy, there's plenty of it, although it can take a lot of time. But you don't need to focus on farming totally, just look out for timber while you quest and roam around at Draenor.

As soon as you have upgraded your garrison, used every building slot and upgraded all of the buildings to level 3, you can always decide to replace you Lumber Mill with another medium building if that's more suitable to you.

Still, an early Lumber Mill will provide you with all the garrison resources you need (and you will need a lot of it!), together with the daily supply from the garrison cache and what you get from finding treasures, hitting mobs and running garrison missions.

I found Spirit Woods in Nagrand to be the best place to farm Timber for Upgrading the Mill. Was able to pick up 200 timber in about 15min. Just stick to the path and the spawn rate will refresh by the time you make one circuit.

As of Patch 6.1, assigning Phylarch el Siempreverde to your Lumber Mill produces 45 Recursos de la fortaleza per work order(30 without him assigned).

Hmm. Lots of input to make. The level 3 blueprint is NOT account wide. I do not see it say "already known" or see that the upgrade from level two is unlocked. I donno if it was originally this way but I have had to buy it in every case (and I have 8 level 3 lumber mills).
There are no longer any requirements for upgrading the lumber mill except gold and three simple quests of going out of the garrison and felling three specific trees. The quests pay a little gold and garrison resources.
No resources needed for upgrading but two blueprints and three charges for the upgrade itself. I think it is 300, 500, then 1000 gold to upgrade and the blueprints are 1K each. I just had one of my 11 alts go from a barn to a full level 3 lumber mill with the level 100 follower in less than 4 1/2 hours. With the follower in place you get 45 GR every 4 hours with 26 work slots.
The follower comes easiest by farming Nagrand and within an hour of just wandering around cutting lumber. He will appear only with large trees and it takes about 7 or 8 to get him to show up the three times its takes to battle him. Third time is the charm and he joins your followers. Make sure that you ASSIGN him to the lumber mill as he was already there at work after I got him even though I have yet to assign him to the mill.

As far as Garrison Outposts go, I consider the lumber mill to be the most beneficial when tied with a trading post. With three sources of garrison resources ( the automatic one, the trading post one, and the lumber mill one) I can use the resources to buy whatever else I need for things like leather or fur or draenic dust. The trading post traders cycle through every day so one will quickly show up that sells them at 4 GR.
Think about it. A barn can only give leather or fur and it is impossible to change the order or buy more. At 4 GR, the fur has almost the exact same amount per 4 hour cycle (48 GR for 12 fur or 12 fur per furry caged beast). The nice thing is that the GR can buy OTHER THINGS that you can sell in AH. With the traders going full swing, some days you can make a killing at something that is really expensive and completely missing in AH. Yes, barns can give Savage Blood but with all the Primal Spirits coming from the free mine and herb garden (and daily fishing quest) AND now the traders, savage blood is much, much easier to get. Trading Post + Lumber Mill = Lots of choices of what and when to get and use or sell.

Lumber Mill to Level 3 with follower since Patch 6.1
LEVEL ONE: Medium plot. Cost 300 gold no resources. One hour wait.
Two quests: "Easing into Lumberjacking". Harvest a tree just outside your Garrison.
Reward: Apprentice logging (small timber only). 30 Gold 50 Garrison Resources (GR).
"Turning Timber into Profit". Gather 10 wood and place a single work order to Justin Timberlord.
Reward: 46 Gold, 100 GR.
Message given: "Your skill in logging has increased to 1"
You can now gather all small trees in Draenor, 10 Wood per work order and 12 work orders at level one. 30 GR per work order, 4 hour cooldown per order.

NOTE: The Barov brother can be found in Shadowmoon Valley at 46.1, 31.3. Very consistent as I have found him there every time.

LEVEL TWO: Upgrade to level two locked on drafting table. Needs Blueprint from Spartz next to the table. Cost 1,000 gold.
After learning blueprint, Level 2 upgrade unlocked. Cost 0 GR, 500 Gold to upgrade. Time One hour.
Quest: "Sharper Blades, Bigger Timber". Harvest a tree just outside your Garrison.
Reward: Journeyman Logging, 30 Gold, 100 GR. Once handed in, can harvest Timber (Timber comes in Small Timber, Timber, and Large Timber)
Message given: "Your skill in logging has increased to 2"

LEVEL THREE: Upgrade to level three locked on drafting table. Needs Blueprint from Spartz next to the table. Cost 1,000 gold and needs Level 3 Garrison (level 100 for the owner).

NOTE: The Blueprint clearly does NOT STATE that the blueprint is already known. You have to buy it, no matter what this post says. I have plenty of level three Lumber Mills, all

needing a level 3 blueprint. Sorry for the bad news.
After learning blueprint, Level 3 upgrade unlocked. Cost 0 GR, 1,000 Gold to upgrade. Time One hour.
Quest: "Tree-i-cide". Harvest a tree just outside your Garrison.
Reward: Expert Logging, 60 gold, 150 GR. Once handed in, can harvest Large Timber
Message given: "Your skill in logging has increased to 3".
You can now harvest any sized timber in Draenor. With the Lumber Mill follower, the output is 45 GR per 10 gathered Timber every 4 hours with 26 maximum Work Orders ( the number of workorders increase with the Level 3 Storehouse upgrade).

The quests are the same as in the post for getting the Lumber Mill follower, the Brothers quest, and the tree disguise.

6.1 patch:
Work orders now award 30 Garrison Resource (up from 20).

With the special follower working in the lumber mill lvl3, it will give 45 garrison resources.

On a secondary account, early on I found Weldon Barov, but deactivated him almost immediately. I upgraded my Lumber Mill to level 2, did the Legado de los Ancestros quest, and had enough work orders for the Mejorando el aserradero achievement. However... no matter how many times I reloaded, I could never get the Reducción de personal quest to appear.

Solution: I reactivated Weldon Barov and suddenly he was right by the fountain offering the quest!

Subversive Infestation requires a level 3 Mill in place. I built my mill up to level 3, recruited Phylarch, got tired of farming lumber and switched to the Trading Post without ever having taken Phylarch's Everbloom quest, Subversive Infestation, deactivating him to make room for other followers.

I decided that I want to have the option, and reactivated Phylarch, but he's nowhere to be found in my garrison. He'll go on missions, but I can't find him to pick up the quest.

One of my toons does not dismount when harvesting lumber in Nagrand, but the rest of them do. Any idea why? What are the other toons missing?

Boosted toons will get a Level 2 Lumbermill as part of the perks. However, the quest Easing Into Lumberjacking is not available at the lumber mill. I put in a ticket and the GM replied that boosted toons need to do the Tanaan Jungle intro quests thru the quest The Assault Base. Once that is done the lumber mill can be used normally.

I feel that if you play with multiple characters that have a Garrison (currently 6); You don't really have the time or energy to gather timber and besides you automatically gain free garrison resources from the cache as time goes on anyway. + From the missions.

This building is the best choice if you want to quickly upgrade your garrison (assuming you have the gold sorted out too). Good for your first garrison character in a new WoW realm for example.

Other than that, the only reason to have it would be for the achievements, toy & follower etc.

I should had built this in the start. At this point it feels somewhat useless to build. But I want to have every building (across all my characters).

Level 3 blueprints either no longer stay unlocked account-wide or some other weird restriction is in place... I unlocked them and they remained unlocked on another of my toons, but I recently 100 boosted a ret paladin and he doesn't have them. All on the same account, same faction, different realms.

To purchase the level 2 plans, run the long quest chains in either Gorgrond or Spires of Arak that reward Notas de ensamblaje del puesto de avanzada.
