haste seems to be much better for retribution in cata after playing the PTR, might even say the main stat other than strength so far for a few reasons:

-this talent, lowering the cooldown of crusader strike, means faster holy power generation, and its apparently also affected by raid buffs like windfury so reaching the point where CS happens every 2nd attack

-all dots are affected by crit and haste, yes that means things like the vengeance dot (or truth as its called now), is affected by haste, which means you will get a lot of damage out of your seals (so far testing on the PTR, Truth is the dps winner by far)

-crit is less valuable than before, no more crit based talents or even extra damage (no more righteous vengeance), it is nice as a melee, but not really anything beyond plain double damage crits (well, exorcism is still 1.5x)

-mastery seems like an ok stat but not really a solid damage increase, increasing the rate at which you get free finishers (its very RNG'ish), but haste technically does the same thing, more swings can be more procs (though both together would be very nice, not sure how much mastery you'd get, like would 8% be 20% in decent gear im guessing?)

-spell global, not really anything new but may as well mention it will be lowered on several spells ret still uses like exorcism and judgement

the only thing im probably going to hate is if they decide to itemize pvp gear the same, no haste, unless the ArP off pieces are becoming haste, then you may get a decent amount... i know the crit % is gone from resilience but crit damage is still there so haste seems to also be the path of least resistance for doing damage in pvp at 85

I'm not sure where the original comment I posted went for this but.

Sanctity of Battle appears to receive the standard benefit from haste that most effects and abilities do. Currently, with 10.34% Haste, my Crusader Strike cooldown is at 4.08s. The unhasted CD is 4.5 seconds. 4.5/4.08 = 1.1034, as expected (meaning that 4.5 has been divided by 1.1034 to reach 4.08, or reduced by 10.34%, the standard way of applying haste benefits.).

Comment by Ronark

Sanctity benefits from only specific Haste buffs.

Spell Haste increase effects, like Totem of Wrath or Mind Quickening, will affect the cooldown on CS, but not Melee Attack Speed buffs like Hunting Party.

Bloodlust/Heroism/Time Warp also reduces the cooldown.

Generally, if it increases Cast speed, it increases Crusader Strike cooldown reduction.

Thanks to Ronark for clarifying what form of Haste actually affects this talent, but post 4.3, my further question is this.. since Haste as a stat seems to be widely shunned by ret pally's, since we cannot reach a 3 sec Crusader Strike anyway, does anyone think this talent should be passed over in order to place it somewhere more useful?

Thanks.. :)

Can or cannot sanctity of battle reduse the cooldown of crusader strike to 0?

As of 5.0, this has now made haste valuable to protection paladins as well. Lower cooldowns on their abilities means quicker Holy Power generation and thus more Shield of the Righteous uptime, so haste does have a survival benefit for any protection paladin seeking to get the most out of active mitigation. Latest simulations by Theck (as of October 8, 2012) show haste and mastery of having roughly equal value now, depending on what content is being attempted as well as the paladin's own preference and playstyle.

For a maximum haste build as of Patch 5.4, use these enchants/self-buffs:

Enchants
Hands: Enchant Gloves - Greater Haste
Waist: Living Steel Belt Buckle gemmed with either Quick Sun's Radiance or Perfect Quick Sunstone
Feet: Enchant Boots - Greater Haste
Weapon: Enchant Weapon - Windsong

Self-buffs
Elixir: Elixir of the Rapids
Food: Tangy Yogurt
Potion: Potion of Speed
