This is a shaman totem and it is Horde-only until The Burning Crusade expansion pack for World of Warcraft. It slows all enemies within 10 yards by 50% and is trainable at level 6. The totem also costs 6% of base mana. Other slowing spells that shaman get are: Frostshock ( https://www.wowhead.com/mop-classic/search=+frost+shock#M0zc ), Frostbrand Weapon ( https://www.wowhead.com/mop-classic/search=frostbrand ). These are all extremely useful skills, especially in PvP and increases a Shaman's survivability by alot.

A tip for pvp shamans...
If you see the alliance running up to kill you, and you see no way to run or win, go out with a bang!
Set the earthbind, gear up lightning shield and your favorite elemental weapon,then wait...
set fire nova totem when they are close enough to concentrate on you, Jump around without going out of range of your fire nova totem.
Hopefully, they won't notice it... but when it goes off they will lose a decent amount of hp.
Congratz, you just slowed down a bunhc of alliance players, and if you were lucky, you also killed a few of em.

Helpful for running away from mobs while soloing! Lay it down while you're running away since it's instant cast and put some distance between you and the mob.

This is a useful totem for when you feel you need to go afk really fast and do not feel like logging out. Go to the side of a road or up a part of a mountain and drop the totem. Just be near it; it can possibly slow down the the time it takes them to get to you. You can also use Stoneclaw Totem or Stoneskin Totem as well (only one) weigh your values.

This really does help if you want to make a get away.

I'm pretty sure this triggers the Bonfire's Blessing, because I threw a Earthbind Totem out, and the mob that was afflicted by it got down to 20% hp. I checked the combat log, and there were nothing else that could've triggered it.

If this is true then it's kinda nice. :o

It is great for kiting when combined with Frost Shock,can make you time for Lesser Healing Wave or
a Healing Wave if you are resto with some spell haste if you need a heal after all.

In group PvE this totem has some interesting applications.
If for example, your are fighting a group of melee mobs and a ranged attacker, particularly one without a solid aggro dump like an ele shaman pulls aggro. Earthbind could potentially snare the loose mob and either give the tank time to pick it back up, give the dps who ripped aggro a chance to finish the target off, or just to escape. To that end it would be practical to drop this totem instead of a different earth totem so the enemy will be slowed before they start heading towards you or your groupmate.

- A two point talent deep in enhancement will make this totem more needed, too sad they replaced shamans "travel form" with this.

"Reduces the Cooldown of your Chain Lightning by .75/1.5/2.5 seconds, your Earthbind also has a 33/66/100% chance to root targets for 5 seconds when cast, and the periodic damage of your Flame Shock is increased by 20/40/60%"

Very useful in a PvP spec, as well as getting those roots down on sparks in Malygos.

This is the Shaman's second best method to kite an opponent (the first goes to Frost Shock), and the most mana-efficient way to kite an opponent. This works best while they're chasing you or when you're trying to slow a large group of enemies.

Storm, Earth and Fire combined with 2 points in Earth's Grasp (a tier 1 talent in the Enhancement tree) makes this totem a 12-yard dual root-kite with a 10.5 second cooldown. Combine that with a 4-piece of Gladiator gear (reducing the cooldown by 1.5 seconds) and you got a 9 second cooldown. Earthbind spec'd with SEF can root multiple enemies for 5 whole seconds, as stated above, and this stun can't be broken by damage. Once they're released from the root, they'll still be slowed by 50%. Combine that with Thunderstorm and Ghost Wolf, and you either got yourself a getaway plan or a way to get the enemy far enough away that you can launch a well-placed LvB (or even Hex if it's a caster).

If your opponents keep you stunned for long enough, it won't mean diddly, but these upgrades have made Elemental much, much more viable in PvP.

Does not benefit from Hit or Spellpen so it gets resisted/misses alot. 2 resists/misses and your opponent will be out of it's range.
It also counts as a nature effect. Guess which school is the most common racial resistance.

If you get an extra mob on u placing a earth bind and kite the mob around the totem is a good idea if you dont just run. Stoneclaw will also help agains mobs that you havent gained any aggro on, fexp if u are trying to run away and mobs jump on you. Erthgarp is sweet in many ways, not only getting away but also to stop ppl getting away i you dont have or dont want to spend mana on FS. Very nice to have at BGs. This totem can give you time to heal and GW. I love it, litle mana and you get it at lev 6. So it is perfect.

get 3 elemental furies items then the earthbind will have a 20 yards effect so u dont need to use frost shock simple as that !

cost like 15 mana at lvl 17 super cheap

great spell for lvl 6 with no extra ranks

they need to fix the delay tho that it takes for people to get its effect when they enter its zone
- id see enemies get within 3 feet of the totem before the effect takes place

I love it, yet hate it. When im playing my shammie, this is great in pvp or pve. However, when im not playing my shammie this is SO annoying >.<

If that happened u could create these every 10 yards across the wsg field, or fill the hall leading to the base with these and everyone would be slowed

Its amazing how much use one can get out of this totem
I use it constantly
whether it be running from a mob
or making a little distance between me and the gank squad coming after me
Its also the shamans only crowd control skill
one can argue that stone claw totem is a cc but it only works to round up a few mobs in pve

nice for pvp against melee classes and you want to get some distance, crap against mobs since it will lure all mobs within a certain yard after it and once they destroyed your totem they will go after you so dont use in an area with mobs that dont normaly aggro

i have loved this totem mainly when i took on timber and his group at level 9 i was able to get out as soon as they took a chunk out of my draenei it helped me at levels 13-14 in moonbrook during the second peoples milita quest but watch out for the pillagers cause their fireballs take a nasty chunk of your health

Shaman havnt got very good AoE but Earthbind can help about in instances or whatever.

Just drop Earthbind then Fire Nova after and by the time they get to your Fire Nova it should have detonated and his everyone. Of course...Then you'll have to run around like a madman whilst waiting for the cooldown but it comes quite quickly.

hey. yea im new at shamans and just got to lvl 6. so i was wondering how i get the earth totem thingy. cause every time i try and use it. it says that i need an earth totem or something like that. so yea j/w

i have not used this very often because i would rather use another totem of eath. It's only merit i would say is for running cause it slows down enemies. Though if they have any ranged attack or hit it once it's dead. Not pointless but close.

You have to finish a quest to get the totem from the trainer. Call of the Earth is the quest (horde).
