As good as it seems to be, I don't see it proc that often. My test was using full rotation of a SV hunter, and just by shooting at the dummies, it appears that it doesn't proc off shots with magic dmg. I was getting maybe 1 proc every 30-40 shots, not really something I'm too excited about.

Someone can do more tests to prove me wrong, but thats what I see so far. When it does proc, it gives you the Herald Of Doom buff.

Noticed a Dark Iron Treasure Chest spawned on one of the floating rocks in Molten Front to Fireplume Peak. This thing was in it with about 56 silver, 66 copper was inside it.

While farming for Volatile Air off of Scion of Al'Akir in Orsis, Uldum, I found a treasure chest sitting behind a column in the ruins, and the Heart of the Vile was in it. Yoink!

I see a lot of arguments here that 獵人 really, really want Heart of the Vile because 舒諾茲的統率勳章 only prox off melee. Well, let's actually compare.

Heart's proc is 10s of 924 Crit with a 100s ICD, so being very generous and assuming exactly 10% uptime, you're losing about 92 Crit Rating, on average, from taking Schnottz instead of Heart. I favor averaging it because this is a starter trinket, so it will be used for primarily 2 situations:

Soloing and questing
Spamming dungeons to gear up

In both cases, the value of the ability to coordinate a burst of cooldowns is minimized since you're mostly killing lots and lots of trash that doesn't require such tactics and usually dies before the full cooldown spread is even finished. So, I think it's appropriate to average this trinket's proc as a general benefit over time.

Is 92 passive Crit worth hunting the AH and paying a sum of gold for an item which will get replaced rapidly, even if you just run regular randoms? That's really up to each individual's personal OCD level, but let's be real, Schnottz is not that far behind — even with its poor proc design — for a leveling/starter trinket.

But what if you have both trinkets? Then it's not an either/or decision. Obviously, before dungeons, Heart is the best choice since it has the most Agility and an ~okay proc. But is Schnottz worth replacing a different green trinket?

Your other choices at level 84, preparing to enter starter dungeons, are (assuming no profession perks and that you didn't farm Reg Stonecore while leveling for the drop off Corborus):

膽汁莓味嗅鹽 — +171 average Haste Rating, –91 Agility
裝備偵測器 — +200 average Haste Rating, –67 Agility
染血的麥酒杯 / 靈機魂能 — +219 Mastery, –52 average Agility

I am assuming these trinkets follow the general Cata pattern of (duration * 5) = ICD. Some trinkets violate this (like Heart of the Vile, in fact, with ICD = duration * 10), so if anyone knows better from personal testing, please post the correction. ^^

Now, it's never that simple with trinkets — procs can be coordinated with other procs for Super Saiyan™ moments. Prox can also go largely to waste if they go off at a bad time, or there's no targets meaty enough to benefit from the extra power. Raw secondaries (Mastery on the TwiHi trinket) can be Reforged to meet your needs, while pure Agi or stat prox cannot.

I guess I'm trying to say that there is no one obvious choice to prescribe here, but if you lay out all your options and look at them objectively, compared with stat weights for your gear and level, the raw Agility on Schnottz will keep it surprisingly competitive even without its proc available due to the nature of the content you're doing while wearing low-level gear like this.

I don't see this listed anywhere but it dropped off a mob in Dread Wastes and I don't remember which one. It's a great trinket for 84s and a little up for those who need agility. Sold in the AH today for just over 1200 gold on the first run through.

Venomblood Scorpid in Uldum dropped this for me today and I only had to kill one, so I feel really lucky, as the drop rate is 0% on them.
