Definately a must have for my hunter since he never got a trinket above 251 other than the Herkuml War Token. This will pair nicely with https://www.wowhead.com/mop-classic/item=57325 for leveling purposes

Let me be the first annoyed hunter to say that this item does NOT proc off of ranged attacks, and really you have to wonder why.

Why would blizzard deny hunters usage of a quest trinket? The passive stat is perfect for us and then they just dont make the proc proc off of ranged?

Hunters will have to look for their starting out trinkets else where.

There seems to be a typo in this trinket's name; The character's name is spelled as 'Schnottz' in all other cases.

I'm trying to figure out the ICD of this trinket, so I can compare it to Skardyn's Grace, but I can't even seem to see it showing up on mods when I'm attacking the test dummy.

It sure does take a while to proc, though, so maybe it's got a 2-minute ICD, to match the Use trinket?

Rumor has it that this has been hotfixed and now procs on ranged attacks. Can anyone confirm or deny this? Thanks! I'm going to start the questline and will post back once I found out as well.

I really do wonder what goes on in these developer's minds sometimes. You create a trinket with 234 agi on it, you KNOW it's going to appeal to hunters, yet you put a melee only proc on it...I mean wtf? Why would you ever do that in the first place? Just to annoy us?

No, it doesn't proc off ranged attacks for hunters, but the pure agility on this trinket is still good enough to ignore the lack of any proc or on-use effects. Currently, agility is worth about 2-3 of a secondary stat (such as mastery, crit, haste), thanks to mastery, mail specialization and talents. This is definitely worth taking as a stat boost if nothing else.

I do not understand what the confusion is all about here.

The tool tip reads:

Equip: Your melee attacks have a chance to grant 918 mastery rating for 20 sec.

Melee means close quarter, inside the hit box combat. Ranged is distance attacks, outside of the hit box.

This is a rogue/shammy trink, not hunter.

There's no confusion except as to why it wasn't made to proc off of ranged attacks. Every other trinket with agility my hunter has gotten in Cataclysm has proc'd off ranged and melee.

Also, every class and spec has a trinket out of that quest chain they can benefit from except hunters. It's one helluva trinket either way but why not just add that 'and ranged' instead of leaving hunters out in the cold after completing the quest chain?

i dont know if this is proccing or not for ranged attacks, but i have noticed something unusual about it. when i have this equipped along with skardyn's grace, a trinket which has an on-use proc for mastery buff with a 2-min cooldown, the 2-min cooldown on skardyn's grace gets shortened to 30 secs randomly.

About 5 minutes of autoshotting with no proc, 3 melee swings and it proc'd

For all of those people wasting TONS of time trying to get this to proc from ranged attacks... please tell me you can read. The trinket clearly states "Your MELEE attacks have a chance to grant 918 mastery rating for 20 sec." So it ain't broke, and Blizz doesn't need to fix it.

Well, a bit confused on this trinket - as a rogue nothing beats agility, right - but, Rawr4 has no listing of this trinket to compare it to the others. Would love to see where this sits on the scales of keep or look for better later...

Anyone else have any news on this trinket?

Given the difficulty you'll have obtaining good trinkets at this ilevel it's still an excellent choice for hunters for the 234 agility and the ease of accessibility. It's a quest trinket which means it's not an enhance, feral or rogue trinket over a hunter because you are not rolling on it. I still have this one equipped at ilevel 347 due to the lack of success with heroic drops/rolls, most likely to be replaced with Fluid Death.

No thanks. As a MM hunter I will keep my Skardyn's Grace and Blood-soaked Ale Mug. Why the latter? With a macro for the mug, I will take 1096 agil every 1:30 over 243 agil all the time, any day of the week.

This trinket was a failed opportunity for hunters. Oh well.

Today I was going through my hunter's bank and I found out that I still had this item sitting in it. I picked it up more than a year and a half ago and I had kept it in hopes that it would be altered to proc off ranged attacks.

While I'm sad that it never was changed, I can't complain too much because I wouldn't even use it anymore since I've far surpassed needing it. That having been said, I'm more than happy to pick this up and use it on my rogue.
