Probably the reason this mount is obtainable by simply paying gold is to curb the rampant inflation which was to be inevitable apon the launch of wrath. After most people had spent months saving up gold for wotlk, there was always going to be way too much money in the economy, so like Haris Pilton, and the 'Shattered Sun' tiltle, this is nothing more than a moneysink

Well the blue I dont think looks as good as the brown one but it is not a "Ugly a** mount!" (posted by scissors). I like the fact that bizz when they took out the ZA bear that they gave us 3 new bear mounts :)

To start with the armour: The Armoured Brown Bear (Horde) Has Red armour where as The Armoured Brown Bear (Alliance) has Blue armour. The goggles give cool glow but actually do nothing.

It is sold by Mei Francis in Dalaran for 750g.

This does not cost any rep what so ever! Great for anyone with epic mount training. I got it on my Lvl 64 Blood Elf Death Knight. Just like a Kodo if you are on a side it goes at an angle.

And finally it looks cool!

Just got this bear on my 61 mage, got really tired of the Elekk. Also bought the Kirin Tor tabard so now he doesn't look like every mage at that level.

I bought this in Dalaran for 675 gold without having done any quests for Kirin Thor(i.e I was neutral). There's a chick standing there with an armored brown bear, armored snowy gryphon and a mammoth, all of which you can buy from her(as well as the regular gryphons)
Luckily I had earned enough gold, by skinning bears, when I got to that point.

Brown is referring to the color of the fur. It has blue armor, and also goggles with shiny eyes. It looks like the druid bear form. Good for when you want to ride a bear.

It has a big grin and I can see its gums and teeth at all times. I wonder why he's always so cheerful?

Increases your ground speed by 100%, but not your air speed as of yet.

As per patch 5.1, if you have the Horde counterpart mount, the Armored Brown Bear (the one with the red armor), you will get the Alliance Armored Brown Bear (the one with the blue armor) mount as well on your Alliance characters.
