you may be missing 200-300 armor a substantial amount of stamina but you gain Block Rating and most importantly VALUE that 33 block value I wont use these over my current gear the Stalwart Defender until I get set bonuses and some insane sockets

The fact is, block value is not the stat that you want for tanking higher raid bosses. Sadly, this isn't being reflected in itemization as tier 4 and more especialy tier 5 priotirtises block value over avoidance.

Judging by the trend of most warriors to put +12 sta gems in everything, or +8 dodge, +4def +6 sta and +12 sta if they want the socket bonus, and +18 sta shield enchants, pure mitigation (dodging) and burst protection (hp pool) are what we want on gear.

The set bonuses aren't so hot either, so the whole set, with the exception of the shoulders, isn't terribly desirable.

At least we get easily crafted epics on par with tier 5 and 6 items, right?

Oh, those are the DPS cloth items, my mistake.

Its rather sad (but not really, considering how easy it is to get) that Tankatronic Goggles in 2.1 are better than this helmet (1149 armor 60 sta red / meta socket +4 block value bonus 33 def 18 dodge and 8 hit) is. If I want something that looks like this helmet, I'll just PvP for that one.

While it may be true that Tankatronic might be easier to obtain in the future, you're forgetting that the patch (as of this moment) hasn't been released and it's hard to tell when it will be. Until then why wait and go for the helm? Plus, imo, this helm looks far better in-game than those "goggles."

Oh, I see a lot of other tanks ignoring the socket bonus on this bad boy, and just add a Powerful Earthstorm Diamond meta (+18 Stamina & 5% Stun Resist - https://www.wowhead.com/mop-classic/item=25896), with a Solid Star of Elune blue (+12 Stamina - https://www.wowhead.com/mop-classic/item=24033), thus ignoring the socket bonus. Although +4 Block Rating seems insignificant like "most" socket bonuses, in actuality it increases your block by over 0.50%.

I think I'd rather put a Powerful Earthstorm Diamond in additional to a Thick Dawnstone yellow (+8 Defense - https://www.wowhead.com/mop-classic/item=24052), and you'll definitely see an increase in Block if you're starving for it.

If not, I suggest putting whatever suits your purpose and needs.

This is bar-none better than the eternium greathelm after 2.1.

Assuming all 12 stam gems in either, an 18 stam in the meta socket, and full vitality, toughness, shield mastery, and 1h specialization; switching from the eternium greathelm to warbringer nets you:

-35 attack power
+0.06% avoidance
-0.17% block
+49.55 block value (+54.5 on shield slam)
+0.51% crit
+90.1 armor
-1 stamina

The mitigation is almost identical, except that armor bonus is nice... and armor is the best mitigation (no rolls to get bad luck with). 50 block value is nothing to sneeze at for mitigation as well... as much as people discount block value for mitigation, if a mob hits you for 5000 a swing, thats an additional 1% mitigation on blocks. With 50% avoidance, against a mob where shield block is always up, +50 block value means +0.5% total mitigation, which is significant.

Obviously, a tanks role is not to do damage, but the additional block value is a significant threat generation upgrade... this is a big deal. The crit is obviously not a primary concern, but its a nice added bonus as well.

Stamina is more important than threat ... but its only one stamina lost. The additional threat is very worth it.

I've been after this helmet for quite some time, I've gone through my Eternium Greathelm ( https://www.wowhead.com/mop-classic/item=28593 ) , and am now using Faceguard of Determination ( https://www.wowhead.com/mop-classic/item=32083 ) for the Block Rating and Dodge.

My question is, is this helm's block value and rating, strength & Agility better over the added Dodge and Black Rating of the Faceguard of Determination? I know for a fact it will mean A TON more threat generation, but how is the negative migation effects of the helm?

This is part of Tier 4 Raid set (lvl 70) . You can obtain this item from 阿羅迪斯·日刃 if you are friendly with 占卜者 , or from 阿蘇爾 whitch is member of 奧多爾. You need appropriate token to purchase this item.
