This spell is likely inspired by the Amazon spell "Exploding Arrow" from Diablo 2. It also borrows from the Exploding Shot spell that some mobs use, like the Scarlet Beastmaster.

It was about time hunters received a spell to deal damage to plate users. With this and improved arcane shot we can really hurt them in PvP.

Just hope the nerf bat don't hit us till WotLK release, youtube videos seem awessome.

Was looking at the talents and Lock and Load sounds really cool. My question is will multiple explosive shots stack or overwrite each other.

Yeah, it's nice that Blizzard takes stuff from some of it's other games =)

And does the damage over time debuff affect the target which was shot or just those around?

how hard does this hit in Beta atm?

KC seems to hit pretty dang hard and has 0.5 RAP multiplier which outstrips ES (0.15) by miles... with lower focus cost too! lol

Aimed Shot: Weapon dmg + 0.48 RAP Multiplier + 778
= (0.2 + 0.48 = ) 0.68 RAP + 772
Physical, 50 focus cost (or 0 if using Marksman Proc)

Kill Shot: 150% weapon dmg + 0.3 RAP + 362
= (0.2 x 1.5 + 0.3 = ) 0.6 RAP + 362
Physical, 0 focus cost

Exploding Shot = 3 ticks of 0.18 RAP + 463 to 557
= 3 x (ave of 463 and 557) 510 + 0.18 RAP
= 0.54 RAP + 1530
Fire, 50 focus cost

With Essence of Viper + 8% spell damage debuff, Exploding shot might just come out top.

Kill Shot seems to hit around 19-20k
Explosive Shot seems to hit around 5-10k per tick, so about 15-30k total
On another note, Cobra seems to hit from 10-25k

Though granted during 'execute phase' we'd prioritise Kill Shot (glyphed) for more burst DPS.

As of 4.3 when Lock and Load procs, in addition to the buff and the graphic above your head, the buttons for Arcane Shot and Explosive Shot on your Action Bar have glowing circling borders, the way traps do after Trap Launcher.

This is a really odd spell these days.

I recall it actually being worth using while leveling.

Now, a quick glance at Recount every few levels will prove that Explosive shot isn't worth it, outside of Lock and Load procs.

As of this writing, I'm at level 76. 1 explosive shot, with both its initial and DoTs, deal 2.850 damage on average, without crits. Arcane Shot, however, deals 3050 on average, also without crits. Arcane Shot costs 5 focus less than Explosive shot.

So use Explosive Shot on LnL procs, and never use it otherwise. I don't know at which point this changes, but I'm guessing it does at higher levels. Hell, my Improved Serpent Sting deals 2.700 damage, while costing 15 focus, so it's almost better to spam Serpent Sting than our specialization skill.

Seems they nerfed Explosive Shot a bit too hard back then, and then tried to patch it up by making LnL not include AS. It's a real shame.

Update: Now I'm at level 86... and my AS deals 12.5k damage per shot, for 20 Focus, and Explosive shot deals 3x3.5k damage per shot, for 25 focus.

So even now, ES isn't worth it, unless LnL procs. Wonder why they try to tell people that "This spell is useless", when it is, supposedly, the number 1 priority at level 90.

lvl 2 explosive is available but i need to buy lvl 1st but there is no lvl 1 on the list, i havent already bought it yet. wuts up with that?

Explosive Shot should no longer miss a tick of damage when being reapplied in quick succession.

I don't know wtf is going on, but no one survival hunter's guide show this information.

Wowhead, icy-veins, wow-tavern, - all of them tells you to play lock'n'load prock with fillers.
NO! Just spam explosive shot and do your dps.

Respect to wowtbc.gg - they wrote about it as soon as bluepost was released,
