A great spell with different uses for each spec. As a brewmaster, I keep the initial cast up most of the time to deal extra damage and lay off a little stress for the healer. Cast again to ae aggro if needed. Only downside is that it costs 2 chi each time so while it's useful not it's ideal to spam.

Chi Burst

Chi Burst heals the monk for 100% of his Attack Power (120% for Mistweavers) then travels to its target healing all targets in its path for 100% AP. (120% for Mistweavers).
Heal is capped at 6 targets for a theoretical maximum heal of 720% AP.
Also deals damage to all targets in its path for 100% AP.
Damage is capped at 20 targets for theoretical maximum damage of 2000% AP.
Primarily useful for Mistweavers healing clustered players, although it could be used to AE in specific circumstances.

Chi Wave

Chi Wave heals 4 times for 45% AP (54% for Mistweavers), total healing of 180% AP. (216% for Mistweavers).
Also deals damage four times for 45% AP, total damage of 180% AP.
The caster gets all 4 heal "bounces" when soloing, making Chi Wave a very attractive choice.
Chi Wave is the default choice for Windwalkers and Brewmasters as it is instant-cast (unlike Chi Burst) and doesn't require a second friendly target to reach its full performance.

Zen Sphere: Overview

Zen Sphere is interesting because it can be cast on two targets. This is great for healers, but Brewmaster and Windwalker need a focus macro or healing frames to use it effectively.
The HoT and DoT are not competitive with the alternative L30 talents, even on two targets. But they are close.
If you maintain Zen Sphere on two targets and effectively use the Detonation, Zen Sphere is a very competitive choice.
Due to the two target requirement, outside of highly situational encounters, remains a largely Mistwalker-only affair.

Zen Sphere: HoT/DoT

Zen Sphere heals 8 times for 9% AP (10.8% for Mistweavers) over 16 seconds, total healing of 72%/144%. (86.4%/172.8% for Mistweavers)
Also deals damage 8 times for 9% AP, total damage of 72%/144% AP.
It is the only single-target L30 talent, but it takes a long time to take full effect.

Zen Sphere: Detonate

Zen Sphere: Detonate heals all targets within 10 yards of the target for 23.4% AP. (28.1% for Mistweavers)
Like Chi Burst, it is capped at 6 targets for a theoretical maximum heal of 140.4% AP. (168.6% for Mistweavers)
Also deals damage to all targets within 10 yards for 36.8% AP.
Damage is capped at 20 targets for theoretical maximum of 736%/1472% AP.

Choices
Brewmaster: Chi Burst and Chi Wave are both great choices. Zen Sphere is acceptable if you use a focus macro or healing framles.

Windwalker: Chi Wave, outside of highly situational encounters.

Mistweaver: Zen Sphere, for most situations. If soloing, take Chi Wave.

An excellent talent to pair up with Guard as a Brewmaster; you get the extra heal bonus on yourself and makes this perfect for soloing and for dungeons.

Most players seem to rank Zen Sphere 3rd among the 3 2nd tier talents, however, some log analysis from top ranking Mistweaver Monks in 25m (http://worldoflogs.com/rankings/players/Mogu'shan_Vaults/hps/) seem to indicate that this spell is very powerful when used right.

For example, "kneecapsnaps" on "Feng the Accursed" did almost 55% of his total healing with Zen Sphere: Detonate. He has over 90k HPS total, so almost 50k HPS with Zen Sphere alone... (http://worldoflogs.com/reports/rt-36ussaouw3b0sz1h/details/21/?s=10696&e=11173).

That's only one example, but if one takes time to look across every top ranking healer on WorldofLogs, most of them seem to use Zen Sphere, and all those using it seem to have the spell do over half of their total healing.

I'm not sure if the ability is currently broken or something, but this seems ridiculous, by any standard. It's definately worth giving a try. Some say it costs too much Chi (2 Chi for the Sphere, 2 more Chi for the detonation), but considering how much total healing it does, this seems like a better way to dump Chi than any other option.

Interesting 'feature': Applying Zen Sphere does not cancel eating or drinking, but the detonation does.

I dislike both Chi Burst and Chi Wave (for different reasons), so I went and poked around trying to find a macro that would be good for Zen Sphere. Here it is:

Hold Alt and it will use Zen Sphere on your friendly focus target if you have one. If you don't, it'll be used on your target's target.
Hold Shift or Ctrl and it will cast Zen Sphere on you.
If you aren't holding a mod key, it will cast ZS at the target you have moused over, if you have one at all. If not, it will pick one of the raid/party members closest to you and cast Zen Sphere on them if they're alive (and you if they're not). If you aren't in a party, the target won't change either before or after casting, and it will just cast ZS on you.

Why would anyone downrate this? It's fire-and-forget use for Zen Sphere. If you don't want to use it, then don't. Doesn't mean you should go downvoting people randomly.
