This is one of two statues a Monk can drop depending on his specialization. The two are:

Summon Black Ox Statue : For Brewmaster Monks (Tank)
Summon Jade Serpent Statue : For Mistweaver Monks (Healing)

For Brewmasters: The on click effect does NOT consume your Power Guard from Tiger Palm / Brewmaster Training.

This statue is considered a totem and not a pet, therefore macros require a bit more finesse. If you want to be able to quickly target the statue and use provoke for an aoe taunt without losing your target then the following macro will be of some help.

/tar Black Ox Statue
/cast

For example my keybind for taunt is F. If I hold Shift+F I get an aoe taunt. The second line is for a focus target. Holding Ctrl+F will taunt your focus instead. Using no modifiers will just taunt your target as normal. If you use this macro ensure you don't use ctrl or shift and your current keybind for anything else or it will not fire.

Maybe you guys can answer this question for me since I haven't found any solid information regarding this spell besides what can be found in the tooltip.

The proc, Sanctuary of the Ox, does it require a single hit to be 16x your AP or is it calculated over a period of time? I've seen a couple times that the spell asks for an attack over a million damage but I can't for the life of me figure out how to hit that hard with a single spell(KS has hit at most 100k for me).

For anyone wondering, as I was, Black Ox Statue can NOT be a target for High Warlord Naj'entus' Impaling Spine ability.

So no, there is still no way for soloing him, and as a result, get a friend!

The amount of damage required to proc a bubble includes the increased damage you deal by virtue of your temporary AP from vengence, so whether you are at High Vengence or Low Vengence, it takes about the same amount of the button pressing to get procs.

Of course, with higher vengence each bubble proc'd is stronger than it would be at low vengence, but the bubble won't also proc more often, if they did that would be ldouble dipping from vengence. And conversely it would make the proc occur too rarely and weakly at low vengence.

You will notice that as your Vengence increases in strength the amount of Damage required to trigger a proc increases.

Here's a REAL question about this statue and its shields: what in god's name kind of logic does it use when it gives them out?

When AoEing packs with my statue in the center of a group of party members, I often see the statue giving the same guy 10 shields in a row within about 5 seconds, when he isn't even being attacked. How stupid is that?

Does it go out of its way to check for HP, HP %, if the person even has a shield, etc? Is it "smart" AT ALL?

Anyone do any extensive testing with this and find out exactly what are its factors? Should I be moving this around the room every 30 seconds to ensure it gives better and more even distribution, or what?

Some other facts:
-The target of the Guard does not need to be a member of your party/raid
-The Guard is cast on players within 40y of the statue, not you
-Glyph of Guard increases the absorb cast by the statue, and causes the statue's Guard to only absorb magic damage

To dismiss Summon Black Ox Statue all you need to do is right-click the icon under your character portrait.
Also works with anything similar like Summon Jade Serpent Statue or DK's Raise Dead, Shamans' Totems and anything in that line.
