At the moment, this is now an instant AoE attack that builds 1 charge every 15 seconds up to 2 charges. It deal some instant damage and applies a 6 second DoT (Shadowflame), Shadowflame's primary purpose is to build demonic fury and proc stacks of Molten Core, although for pvp purposes it's also a minor snare. In metamorphosis this spell will become 'Chaos Wave', which is simply a stronger instant burst AoE without the shadowflame DoT. Chaos Wave also appears to guarantee at least one stack of Molten Core.

Obviously this spell does more damage on Multi-target fights but you still use it rotationally on Single-target fights.

There are several different ways to use this spell:

1) Layering Shadowflame: The trick is to get five ticks of the Shadowflame at one stack, and layer a second stack on top of the first, clipping the last tick, for 6 more ticks of Shadowflame at two tacks. to do this use one charge of HoG, and then spend 5 seconds either multi-dotting corruption or channeling Hellfire or Harvest Life, or casting 2 Molten Core hasted Soul Fires, or casting 1 shadow bolt and 1other spell, then cast the second charge of HoG. You will gain fury fairly quickly on multiple targets this way, but even on single targets this method will allow Shadowflame to do the most possible damage. This is your basic single-target and multi-target rotational method.

2) AoE Farming: Cast one charge each on two different packs of mobs, then use Harvest Life on them as they run up to you. you will very quickly gain a huge amount of fury, as soon as the mobs arrive at your location switch to metamorphosis and use Immolation Aura, Felstorm and Carrion Swarm and then Harvest Life again.

3) Burst AoE: Blow both charges in rapid succession to burn down adds that need to die now, if you have the fury to do so it would be better to switch to metamorphosis and use the Chaos Wave form of this ability. If the targets are killed by you while you are in metamorphosis, you gain 100 fury per target, so you want to land killing blows on trash while in Meta Use Chaos Wave in conjunction with Carrion Swarm (glyphed).

This Ability has two (2) charges. The DoT portion of the attack, shadowflame, stacks; so in theory you want the first stack of Shadowflame to run down to one tick right as the second stack lays on top of it, giving you 5 seconds of 1xDoT, and 6 seconds of 2xDoT.

In order to do this, you want to cast the first charge of Hand of Gul'dan, then cast some other spell, then cast the second charge of Hand of Gul'dan. But if you cast the second HoG too soon you clip a tick or two off the DoT, and if you cast the second HoG too late the first DoT drops and you don't benefit from the stacked damage.

In general, you can fit three (3) instant spells, or two (2) Molten Core hasted Soul Fires or one (1) Shadow Bolt plus one (1) other spell (Instant or MC hasted SF) between the first and second charge of Hand of Gul'dan and still layer the DoT.

i think the machanism of

DK runes,
Roll,
Shield Block, Double Time,
Savage Defense,
Conflagrate, Hand of Gul'dan(Chaos Wave), Demonic Slash, Demonic Gateway,
Angelic Feather and
Clemency

(or is there any others?) are similar.
so can anyone explain what's the cd of these "2/3 charges" system spells? (the cd of Angelic Feather, Demonic Gateway, Double Time and Clemency are clear)

when other locks use this w/ mannoroth's fury theirs looks like a shdow meteor storm, but when my lock uses it w/ that talent it looks the same as normal. can any1 tell me why?

Just for the fun of knowing, the metro this cast would chase you for exactly 1 minutes: i cast this while being carry by a Highwind Albatross and the bird out flies my metro.
Fun watching the metro trying to chase this little birdie.
