Only works in fishing pools on the continent Pandaria. Since you will always get fishes out of a pool the skill level of your fishing isn't important anymore. Try to apply it every time to your pole when you're fishing in pools.
The best thing on this pole is that it isn't consumed by use. That means UNLIMITED charges.

This item may be used with or without a pole equipped as I tested today since it attaches itself to you rather than a pole. Just make sure you remember to add the new fishing spell to your bar. The charm may be used indefinitely since it has no charges. You will sometimes get two of the same fish instead of one. The proc seems fairly low though from what I've experienced.

Just got this from the rare spawn Ghostly Pandaren Fisherman in the Valley of the Four Winds immediately after a server reset. I also got the Ancient Pandaren Mining Pick a few minutes later so it is worth checking straight after a restart, You don't kill the fisherman you talk to him and receive the item after selecting the dialogue.

This item has been bugged since Beta. If you've acquired it, please make your way to the thread I've made on the bug report forum. Maybe if it gets enough attention we'll get a fix for it.

"Since many fishing bugs have just been fixed, I should point out that the Ancient Pandaren Fishing Charm is still buggy: It *does* sometimes grant "you a chance to find additional fish from pools in Pandaria", but unfortunately *only* those catches that yield extra fish are successful. So pools either yield 2 fish together, or nothing (no loot window). Note that the non-catches are emptying the pool, so the failure is somewhere between the pool yielding a catch and the loot window (not) popping up with that catch." -El

Cooking is dreadful to grind. Ironpaw tokens are a must. And fishing seems to be the best way to grind up tokens, so if you can be lucky enough to nab this charm, it will help just a bit more!

I logged in immediately after a non-maintenance server restart and he popped up a couple seconds later. Coincidence? Maybe, but I don't think so. When you get the 15m server restart warning, I recommend heading over to his spawn point.

Make sure your inventory has at least one empty spot. I logged out next to him before server reset, he was there after the reset. Talked to him to get my charm, got the inventory full error, and he despawned. :(

edit: It wasn't mailed to me by the postman either, and its not on the battle.net website's item self restoration either, and I doubt putting in a ticket will do anything.

The charm bug is fixed. Getting 1-2 shrimps per Pandaria pool now. Chances seem to be 50/50.

Camped him for days and then watched as he spawned and a warrior who was there nabbed him before I did.

Here are tips/tricks I learned to ensure that this tragedy will not happen to you:

1. You should have the NPC in NPC scan, obviously.
2. Bind "/script SelectGossipOption(1)" to a keybind like 1. When you click on the Pandaren, just spam 1. If I had this macro, I think we might've both gotten the charm at the same time (I heard that's possible).
3. Know the EXACT spawn location of the fisherman. As detailed by this picture:

^^^ He spawns roughly where YELLOW is (and my rogue is standing). He DOESN'T spawn where RED is (which is where I had assumed he spawned, and had to waste a second to walk to him and click him.
4. Don't do this on Ner'zhul until after I get mine! Thanks!

If you are on a competitive realm for him, I would recommend you stand directly where my rogue is (in stealth, if you have it), witch NPC scan ready and your gossip script macro ready. The second he spawns, right click him and spam the hell out of your keybind.

It feels like its about a 20% chance to catch extra fish, same as Alchemy masteries
Most of the time you'll catch just 1 fish but every so often you'll catch 2 or more

The extra fish you get from this charm does not count towards the guild achievements requiring fishing 10.000, 25.000 & 50.000 fishes from pools.

Spotted it around 18.20 server time. Quite amusing that it actually wasn't camped. The item is permanent (i.e u can just spam-rightclick it and refresh ur buff). Tried it out and it did indeed look like a 20% proc to get additional fish from pools. Sad that it doesn't affect open water :(

I started my camp today at 8:10AM server time and have been here all day without fail and it is now 7:30PM and It has not spawned, for those of you that are sitting at its spawn for long periods of time, be ready for a long haul.

Personally, I feel that a 12+ hour re spawn on this kind of item is a bit much.

Edit: Remember those edits that come back and say, "Just after I posted I got X"? This isn't one of those, unfortunately. It was an attempt at such a thing but its now 9:40PM and It still hasn't spawned. I tried!

I can confirm that that more then 1 person can get this at the same time. Me and my girlfriend both got it, along with the achievement. I also think that a third person got it along with us. It took about 3 minutes before it spawned in my inventory, right as I was flying away from that location. I tried that macro but I was in a hurry, and when it didn't work for me I ended up right clicking and clicking on the chat bubble to take the item.

Just got it, 11:35pm. On my way to check the spot I saw the NPC from a distance and flew to him. Nobody else was on him (Spinebreaker). Been checking the spot about 10-12 times a day for a few weeks, and fishing there for a half hour 2-3 of those times. After reading other's accounts here I feel quite lucky.

You can fish up a Sealed Crate + a fish at the same time with this lure, that fish you got together with the crate is from the proc, since you can never get a fish with a crate without it.

Also, the fish you get from procs will not reduce the amount of fish in the pool, I've gotten 7 fish(3x procs + 1 regular = total 4 casts) in a pool, when the maximum fish you can get from a pool is 5x in 5 casts without this lure.

Just found him flying by on my way to a dig site I do not have NPC scan he was up at 4:03 am server time on Eldre ' thalas. Once clicked charm showed up and NPC disappeared. Was in the exact spot as shown in the valley of four winds. GOOD LUCK ALL!

I've been checking this spawn periodically for a couple weeks. Found him when I logged on this morning at about 7:30 AM server time. Received it shortly thereafter as he wasn't camped.This is definitely one you want to check earlier in the day when there's less traffic in the area.

Saw the NPC a few weeks ago and ignored him as I flew past (didn't know what he gave me). Since then I've gone by the spot several times a day with no luck. Finally this morning I had a hunch to swing by and there he was again. Got my charm finally!

I've been tracking all my catches in pools since I received this charm. So far I've cast 126 times and gotten 19 procs. I may just be unlucky but that's about a 15% drop rate.

I'll update as I collect more.

In my experience after this item, take note that camping for this will likely be more painful than rewarding. But like any rare that you feel is worth getting in this game, patience is key - so check it every time you fly over just in case he's there. Few things that will help is to be prepared, so:

Have your macro set
Add the NPC ID into your NPC Scan
Try off hours, as the competition for rares in general is far less than peak hours

And good luck. Note that he's not easily miss as he glitters like a quest item.

I wanted to throw my experience in on this handy item worth getting. First, the proc rate so far seems to be around 30%. But it's hard to gauge when it has a proc run and dry run 4-5 casts without an extra fish. Something else that I thought was interesting was as I was fishing Redbelly Mandarin pools in Vale of Eternal Blossoms, my bonus fish caught was a Flying Tiger Gourami. As far as I know, Nat Pagle's daily fish can't be caught in pools.

I don't see this posted here but I just tested this by summoning my 80 Shaman to Halfhill and running to the Ghostly Pandaran Fisherman when I was looking at him on my warlock, he was NOT visible to my Shaman. I went ahead and took the item on my warlock but I'm very dissappointed as my Shaman is the only fisherman I have between all my characters.

Apparently there's some sort of phasing going on there that I have yet to figure out.

I used the macro:

/target Ghostly Pandaren Fisherman
/script SelectGossipOption(1)

along with binding my interact with target to the ~ key. Put the macro on my number 1 and just spammed the 2 together while watching the episodes of Game of Thrones that have Calisi in it. Makes farming this much more bearable! :3

Found him just now by accident. I had him added in NPCscan. Just going to Tillers to get my daily Ironpaw Token and addon rang. I flew down, noone was camping for him, I even got to read what he had to say. A pleasant suprise to see him there alone, and I'm on high pop realm.

Got rhe charm at 2254, 2/5/13. I had fished from about 2230 and kept the site he would appear just behind my paladin. It started raining very hard at 2245 and I tried another 100 point lure. When it finished I went to the appearance site and sat down. He popped immediately. I got the charm on my rogue when I flew in and dismounted right at the spot where he appeared. That was middle January about 2215. Felt real lucky because it has made a difference in the amount of fish I catch in pools with my rogue. Hope this time helps someone.

After months of looking for this I finally acquired it on my hunter, 02-12-13 at 0632 am server est. Luckily for me my hunter is an alt at 277 fishing, jokes on me. However, at that level fishing I can confirm that the charm does proc fairly often from pools. happy hunting

For all of you who wants it on your alt that's under level 85, You Can't see him! Inorder for him to be there for you, you need to be atleast level 85+!.

I went there since my friend found him and already had him, once I was there I could not see or interact with him.

I finally started fishing after getting this charm (months ago btw) and I've been fishing up my stat food.
I just got a Mimic Octopus from a Giant Mantis Shrimp pool off the coast of Krasarang Wilds.... after about 13 casts in shrimp pools.

I can confirm that the proc of two fish does not count the quest fish for Nat Pagle. I was just using this tonight when I caught a sealed crate, a Reef Octopus, AND a Mimic Octopus all with the same cast.

I wonder if this increases your chance of getting the Sea Turtle.

Edit: Two of my friends have actually found the Sea Turtle when using the charm. (Note. This doesn't confirm that it works, but at least i feel like i should use it, to be on the safe side.)
I myself still have some more fishing to do though :)

If you're like me, you may have misunderstood the description of the item, wasted several hours camping the spawn point for the Ghostly Pandaren Fisherman, only then to realize what this item does.

This item will only occasionally proc for extra fishies in MoP areas, yes, but simply fishing in a river or pond will not cause it to proc. You have to actually fish from a school or pool of fish in order for this item to work.

I spent three to four hours camping the Ghostly Pandaren Fisherman's spawn point, successfully got my charm, and then quickly realized that those hours were entirely wasted. I fished from 4 different schools in a row, and not one extra fish proc'd. Now, RNG is RNG, I know, but my advice to those looking to farm this:

Don't.

You're wasting your time farming it, because the amount of extra fish procs compared to the number of hours some of the people have spent farming the NPC's spawn point is not a balanced return on investment.

For those of you looking to farm it anyway, even for the achievement, good luck to you. I stood next to the spawn point and fished for four hours until NPCScan blared in my ear and I snatched him up. :)

Well this item seems to have been nerfed a lot since last patch! I dont know about others but I used it a few months ago and the proc was great : I could catch from 25 to 40 % more fish from pools in Pandaria.
I tried it yesterday and the first time I went 28 casts with no proc :(
I logged on another toon and I caught 3 more fish from pools out of 37 casts !
What gives? hehe
Would be nice if someone could check his proc rate too lately! ty

I logged out at his location last night and when I logged in this morning, boom there he was right in front of me yeah I got it but boo on wrong toon.

Interesting thing is he disappeared right after I asked him for the charm. I thought he remained for about 5 min to allow others to get it? I brought my 90 level alt and he was not there? Anyone know about this?

So I thought I would test this out with a 100 catches during the daily "fishing frenzy" from one of the special locations.
the result was;
125 Redbelly Mandarin
1 Flying Tiger Gourami
1 Impeccably Sharp Tooth Impeccably Sharp Tooth (Brawlers guild quest)

I guess its around 25% more catches whit the use of Ancient Pandaren Fishing Charm
I don't know if it has any relevance but my fishing skill is 600 (+ 125 extra with enchants, hat, rod etc.)

Got him today on Ravencrest at 8:40 pm server time. Been trying with NPC scan with no luck, finally camped out while reading a book! It wasn't raining, but... I flew up and noticed a storm coming! There were thundering clouds in the distance coming towards the valley. Hope this helps!

As an FYI, he spawned at the exact coordinates given in the other posts at 10:14pm (Seattle time) and it was not raining. There were two of us talking at the moment he spawned, we both clicked on him and we both got the charm. I'd camped out there for about 3 hours before he spawned, but I used the time to level my fishing. I picked up a Tiny Green Carp while waiting, so it wasn't a bad deal at all :)

From my acquiring of this I learned one thing that reading the comments didn't say, or rather maybe I missed it, but Ancient Pandaren Fishing Charm has absolutely no cooldown. It can be applied 8 times in a row, every 2 minutes, or every hour on the dot. Which means infinite fishing with it, and not having to prioritize cooldown vs use.

Does anyone know if this only has an effect when fishing in pools?

I'm doing 1 or 2 of theNat Pagle dailies eg. Mimic Octopus on one of my alts.
While it doesn't seem to change the likelihood of getting the special fish, it does seem to drastically reduce
the number of carp fished up and give better fish instead.

This is just my experience over the past week. Could just be dumb luck/RNG

Anyone able to confirm or deny if it does have any effect?

Found at 46.77 24.44. 1800hours server time 05/21/14. He is a ghost so hard to see. He sparkles a bit. I posted a screen shot of location. Hope it goes through. Thanks to the unknown player who posted a UTube video that I happened to come across a week ago. I didnt even know this existed. Daggerspine server.
