i think you meant to say that this is a heirloom remake of "thrash" blade (see same model as) , a rare sword from a quest in maradon (spelling?) that has the same extra attack effect.

This kind of item is new in Wrath of the Lich King, a Heirloom Item, what is currently known about Heirloom Items(Bind to Account)

Purchasable via dungeon tokens (similar to Badges of Justice)
Can be transferred to characters on your account (ie cannot be traded)
Only transferable to characters on the same realm
Items scale with level (see inset picture)
Scaling will make the item equivalent to a blue item of the characters level
Heirloom armor will transform based on the character who wears it. Therefore, a level 80 plate piece can be worn by a level 1-39 character who wears mail, but gains the ability to wear plate at level 40.

It's the same blade, but the proc of the proc was patched out preBC.
By the time i had this blade the amound of hits you could achieve was amazing combined with sword spec and hand of justice! 1 hit could've been 4 hits with luck. It was like 3 sword specs, which had an almost overpowered synergy and could proc of each other several times.

A wild guess of myself is, that this blade will be on the same cooldown as swordspec. Means: If you have a procc off this blade or sword spec proc, you have to wait 6 seconds until sword spec OR this blade can procc again.

But we all will know when can test it again in WotLK ;)

I'm curious. On a PvE server would you be able to aquire this and send it to an opposite faction alt? I.E. Your main is Horde, and you want to send it to an alliance toon?
Does anyone have any information on this?

It is bound to your account, and since you can't have alliance AND horde chars on the same account in the same realm, you obviously can't faction-swap it.

This only applies to PVP and RP-PVP realms. You can have characters of both factions on all other realm types.

Can anyone verify the stats on lvl 19 twinks?

Compare this weapon's lvl 80 stats with Savage Gladiators Slicer and you will see its not quite as good, unless the extra attack chance on hit can account for the lower dps, lack of crit, lack of stamina and attack power.

You can safely assume your lvl 19 twink with Assassins Blade and Shadowfang will be more dangerous than with this blade and an heirloom dagger.

The items are awesome and great for levelling, good utility dps and it upgrades itself, this does not mean they will be the best at every level, the simple gladiator sword / this sword comparison appears to verify this, but who knows, i may be wrong.

I got this weapon at level 1 and i've used it up to level 20 by now.. i must say it does not proc very often (about every 20th mob) but the damage is superb and along with Venerable Dal'Rend's Sacred Charge i'm invincible.

unfortunately it has a speed of 2.4 instead of the trashblades 2.8 which matters a bit when proccing and also gives it a low topend dmg compared to slower swords which matters for rogues and warriors who would want to use this. much worse than venerable dalrends sacred charge for leveling as its too quick for good mainhand use. warriors could get ok offhand use but chance on hits are always worse in the offhand since you miss alot more with the offhand weapon. also as a warrior if you intend on tanking you want a quicker weapon for more heroic strikes. for arms you want a twohander and for fury you will want two handers at level 60 for titans grip. its an ok offhand until level 60 for those of us with too many stone keeper shards. but at level 60 i will have to make a hard choice to either not go titans grip or to abandon my sacred charge/thrash blade heirlooms.

Both hands incur a 19% chance to miss on top of the 5% normal miss rate of mobs, totalling 24%. Offhand and mainhand have the same chance to miss.

The offhand incurs a 50% damage penalty.

Interesting to note is that this sword seems to ignore weapon skill requirements. I recently bought the blade and gave it to a warrior alt that I just started. I did not go to Undercity to teach him to use swords, yet he is able to equip this anyways. I don't know if this is a bug unique to the Thrash Blade, an intended effect, or simply a characteristic of all heirloom weapons, but I just wanted to make sure that the word gets out.

As some one leveling a furry warrior alt, should I be looking at something like this for an offhand, or perhaps the dagger (considering the hit ratting). I am already main handing the other 1handed BoA sword. I run plenty of 80 content on my paladin so by the time I hit outlands (only 25 now) I should be set up with two handed weapons for Titans Grip, but until then I would like to know if fast offhands for rage generation or this for its proc would be better.

The proc rate doesn't exactly make me happy in the pants.

After approximately 410 MAINHAND swings (with this weapon in my main hand) I had a total of 13 procs, which definitely does not make it very good for leveling... unless the proc rate goes up as you level, which is entirely possible.

7 procs from Sinister Strike, 6 from melee swings.
Sorry if you were hoping for those legendary 1 shotting weapons, but I just don't think this weapon has that capability.

Can anyone confirm this for sure? I saw some debate about it in the previous posts. If this is the case, it's a rockin offhand.

Also I'd like to clarify that this thing does NOT have a 6 second internal cooldown. I saw it proc (white energy radiates out of your feet) twice in just a moment, and I confirmed that it happened in the combat log. No internal CD on this one.

that's because as a rule you shouldn't put weapons with 'Chance on hit:' procs in your Off Hand.

over the course of a normal fight in which several instant attacks are used, a given weapon's chance-on-hit ability will go off more often if the weapon is wielded in the main hand than if it is being wielded in the off hand.

the proc is not 'worthless'. there's a reason the original weapon has been paid homage to with an Heirloom copy.
i know fury warriors who held on to the old original til the very last gasp and then moped like hell about having to give it up...

Compared to the dagger, staff, mace and 2handed sword, I think it is somewhat underbuffed, all the other weapons increase your stamina, but this simply gives you the "Chance on hit" procc.
And what's up with the resilience stats? Why would you even want to get resilience stats while leveling up?

These items are called Heirloom items which can be purchased with Emblems of Valor, Heroism, and Conquest and Stone Keeper's Shards. They are useful for leveling low level characters as they provide excellent adds to your leveling experience.
1. They give an extra 10% Experience gain from killing monsters and completing quests.

2. They provide decent attribute gains for that level character. A level 1 character usually gets say about +3 or +4 for that attribute.

3. They are Bind on Account which means they can be sent throughout all of your characters of the same faction on the same realm which would be very helpful so you would not have to buy multiple sets of the same item and spend time and Emblems/Shards on the item.

Take note that the sword is Unique-equipped (unlike many heirloom weapons), meaning you can only use one on any one character at any one time. A rogue cannot use two of these, for instance. The 1-handed sword for 60 champion seals, https://www.wowhead.com/mop-classic/item=42945, pairs well with this sword.

A heirloom weapon that grants you superior wep damage in all your levels, carries your +15 aglility enchant till lvl 80... As a melee, critisizing weapon's stats is nonsense. U shouldnt look for stats in weps, unless you are a hunter. Its the item level (Dps) u should be looking for. So i think this weapon is pretty nice offhand for leveling sword specced combat rogues. Its slow and it has more damage that causes your killing spreeses much more deadly.

As a fury warrior, I have this and and another heirloom sword, both with crusader on them, I seem to rack up almost double the rest of my groups DPS. Crusader is the way to go.

Can Druids use swords?

Dear Swtz, I have spent many long hours searching for the answer to your question, and I believe I may have finally found results.

I perused the texts of lore in the Stormwind library, and searched for the answer in the ancient Night Elf ruins of Azshara. I asked an old Elf of questionable reputation, and spent many weeks with the Druids of Nighthaven in Moonglade. None had the answer.

Next I hoped to find the answer with the Mages of the Kirin Tor. They cast a spell of knowledge, hoping to gain the answer from the arcane powers that lace the world. The resulting explosion ripped Dalaran from it's home in the Alterac Mountains and left in hanging hundreds of feet above the ground in Northrend. I quickly made my escape. I will not be welcome back.

Frustrated, I went to ask the Shamans of the Earthen Ring the question that now haunted my dreams. I traveled to the Throne of the Elements in Nagrand to speak with the Shamans there. They agreed to help, and began a ritual to summon a spirit of the earth, who would surely know the answer. The ritual took some time, and being bored, I decided to practice juggling my daggers. I accidentally dropped one, and it bounced off a rock at my foot, and stabbed a nearby Horde Warrior in the shin. I was promptly chased away by four large angry elementals screaming something about "No pee-vee-pee!", whatever that is. I will seek the answer to that question later. When I tried to return for the answer the next day, the head Shaman turned me away, saying that though she did indeed have the answer, she would not give it to me because of my violent behavior.

In despair, I did the one of the only thing left that I could think of. I tossed a sword to a Druid and told him to catch it. Later, I visited him in the hospital and asked him to tell me what his combat log had shown. This is what he told me with his dying breath.

Dangerously Sharp Sword disembowels you for 9001 damage.
You are dying.

Though these results may seem inadequate, it is all I have. The Druid's inability to catch a sword spinning through the air towards his chest confirms what I have always suspected.

Druids can't use swords.

you cant put any enchants that have a LV restriction i have tried wasted 300 gold on the mats but the good thing is i was still able to use it even tho it wouldnt be what i wanted it for...... personaly to me this isnt a great herloom

I just thought I'd comment this because wowhead hasn't updated it yet: This (along with the other heirlooms/gems etc.) previously sold by the WG quatermaster in Wintergrasp Are still available in patch 4.0.1 and now cost about 2200 of the new honor points (2200 is a rough fuigure for the heirloom items as I cannot remember exactly :D)

I found out something recently that potentially makes this the best tanking heirloom. It has no stats, true, but agl does nothing now, and crit is not very good as a tank stat in general so really the only thing the sword/mace has over this is more exp for a dwarf, and both have a tiny bit more stamina 28 or so I believe at 80. The Thrash blade is a bit faster without being too fast, but still deals almost the same damage.

BUT

Most importantly, which I discovered the other day after checking my combat logs on a warrior tank I was playing around with, is that the thrash effect doesn't just proc an extra attack, it duplicates the attack that caused the proc. This includes Thunder clap, rend, Cleave, heroic strike, and even my shield spike were getting thrashed. I thought at first it was just the ability proc'ing off those moves, but the damage it was showing are wrong for an extra melee swing.

After playing around some more I actually witnessed a back to back thunder clap, one that I did, and one from the Thrash proc.

Something to keep in mind.

Total hits: 3100
Usual: 3042
Proc: 58, two of them crit.
Proc chance ~1.8%.
Even if it duplicates skills, gain from the proc negligible.

As of 5.2, the Level 80 Heirloom weapons and armor can be upgraded to scale up to level 85

Cost is the original item and either Darkmoon Faire Prize Tickets, JP (for heirlooms purchasable with JP) or Honor (for PvP itemized heirlooms purchased with honor)

1-H Weapons: 2175 Honor/JP or 110 Darkmoon Faire Tickets
2-H Weapons: 3500 Honor/JP or 130 Darkmoon Faire tickets

Confirmed these are treated as unique items and you can dual wield the non-upgraded Battleworn Thrash Blade with the upgraded Battle-Hardened Thrash Blade. Happy Thrashing x2.

Definitely procs off of any Melee swings or melee based abilities, had Hem getting thrashed and even Deadly poison getting thrashed, however on testing on a DK none of he's abilities were getting thrashed since they are classed as "Spells", Melee swings were getting thrashed, rune strike, blood boil and DS never got thrashed.

I had this weapon on my rogue and found it rarely ever proc'd. I didnt like it UNTIL I put it on my Warrior. I have no idea WHY but it procs almost every battle on my Warrior. On my rogue I was lucky if it proc'd once every 15 minutes. On my warrior it's proc'ing about once every minute or two at most. I dont understand why - maybe because it was wielded in my rogues off hand but I dont understand since it would still be striking a foe just as much.. I have crusader on it and on another one Lifestealing and it works amazing (on my warrior anyways). I switched this out for a dagger for my rogue. Im VERY happy with this blade coupled with my Warrior! :) I'll post some stats when I get a chance for PvE and instance running.
