For those of you looking for this guy in Stonetalon Mountains, I could only find him as a secondary combatant.

I trapped one of these as a volunteer pet in a battle with a Black Rat in the Wetlands.

I didn't see any out wandering, so they may only be attainable as secondary pets (At least in the Wetlands).

Found 1 In Icecrown oddly. Was at Vally of echos. funny as its not listed In this zone. an that theres only Two pets that normally are fought here. mostly roaches.

I feel like I've been trolled searching for a rare of this pet. Searching everywhere for them and fighting everything.... Then I come across a team of THREE Poor quality ones... Ha ha, really funny.

I just farmed my rare version of this pet, and i found that the best place to reliably find these is in wetlands, there isnt to many up at a time, but there is almost always some.
So i would recommend placing an alt there and logging in a few times a day to sweep the area for them.
Chickens also spawn as secondary pets here, while its not a great place to farm for the chicken, its a nice added bonus, since they have almost no spawn places as the primary pet.
