This item should alter the falling animation for whoever holds it so that they hold the umbrella over their head as they fall.

If you fish with this equipped (or simply have your OH transmogged to look like it) the umbrella will appear with your fishing pole coming out of it.

Currently on live the stats are

+752 stamina
+501 Intellect

Not sure about secondaries since mine is reforged, looks to be on par with the Heroic off-hand now

Stats on this are incorrect. I have it on my Mage, third solve in Jade Forest.

Yay! Never again do i have to be caught fishing without my main hand weapon equipped. Actually this thing doubles as a main-hand fishing pole! It doesn't matter what you have equipped in your main hand, if you cast with this equipped a fishing pole magically appears in your main hand and you hold the umbrella in your off-hand. I noticed when i tried fishing without my rod equipped and i could still fish! I'm trying to figure out if this is boosting my fishing stats at all. So far i've caught an unusual number of crates... ;)

Very nice starter offhand, and being BOA it will benefit each of my caster toons while leveling them.
Was my second archy Solve in Pandaria, starting with 525 arch - either a good drop rate or more likely just dumb luck. ;-)
Took about 90 minutes start to finish to get this completed.

Arch is much less annoying than before due to the much higher number of artifacts you get from an a dig site now,
seems like twice as many. Which means half as much flying around as when arch was first introduced.
If you haven't tried archaeology since the changes this may give you a reason to give it a go.

I assume shields can't be transmogrified to look like an off-hand frill even though they are in the same slot, just like axes can't look like swords and 1h and 2h can't transmog to each other?

Which is too bad because I got this yesterday and tanking with this thing as a shield would be completely awesome.

And while I've never been a fan of holy paladins using off-hands instead of shields, because we're paladins, darn it, we carry shields, plus why give up extra armor if you don't have to... this might make me do it.

It's an ilvl 463 BoA blue that can be used by any of you characters who's at least 85. Am I the only one who sees how awesome this is?

Now all that's left is for it to give a reduce falling speed effect. Make it happen, Blizz!

As a BoA item this will surely help a lot of people getting their alts faster into LFR and dungeons... Just got mine today along with Quilen Statuette, and that increased my iLvl a fair amount..

Awesome off-hand, one of the rare Pandaria archeology artifacts that are ilvl 463, BtA and can be used by level 85 players (the others being Quilen Statuette and Spear of Xuen).

Very interesting to note that, before 5.1, it had it's stats upgraded from:
Stamina: 752
Intellect: 421
Haste: 294
Mastery: 294

To:
Stamina: 752
Intellect: 501
Haste: 334
Mastery 334

In 5.1, with the option to upgrade rares with Justice Points, the stats can get up to:
Stamina: 810
Intellect: 540
Haste: 360
Mastery: 360

As of this post, if you upgrade this item to an ilvl 471 via 1500 Justice Points it WILL keep its upgraded ilvl when mailed to other alts.

Here is a screenshot of it on my Druid, and Here is one of it on my Warlock alt.
Both are made by me, and it clearly states I only own one on my account, so you can tell they are not two different umbrellas.

Ok, so after 14 trash discoveries and 1x Spear of Xuen, i finally got one.

Before i started farming this, i'd already upgraded to Zen Master Archaeology. My single biggest regret was not keeping arch at 525, meaning all of my digs would've stayed in The Jade Forrest rather than being spread everywhere once i'd levelled a bit (a nightmare on an 85 warrior..).

I discovered the Spear at around 550-575 Arch level, so my guess is Umbrella of Chi-Ji would also not require lvl 600 Archaeology.

Another thing of note i guess was what type of discovery this was. If it's not already apparent, this is a Pandaren drop, so farming Mogu digs (Unless unavoidable) is quite pointless tbh.

Finally, this item is upgrade-able to 471 Item level.

The umbrella can be upgraded to 471 item level by any character who has enough justice points and access to the upgrade NPC, not just level 90s. And as mentioned by others it can still be mailed between characters after upgrading.

For those of you that didn't get that joke, I'll make this post more useful.

I solved less than 5 Archaeology (Pandaren) before I discovered this. It takes 180 Fragments, and has 3 slots for Pandaren Pottery Shards. For those of you who don't know, the Pandaren keystones substitute for 20 fragments a piece, making the minimum number of fragments necessary 120.

It has a minimum requirement of 525 Archaeology, which simply means the moment you get Pandarian Archaeology you may find it.

It has several counterparts, all of which (That I know of) are ilv 463 blues, with different stats for different classes. These seem to be really useful since they may be used on multiple toons. They can be used and re-used to your liking, and have a very high ilv for only requiring level 85 to use.

Okay, but I still think I should've left this post at that one-liner.

A large Tauren shaman by the name of Podolski, donning a transmog with a deep purple glow, flying about Pandaria on the back of his violet Netherdrake, decided to take the form of a ghost wolf and search the grounds for his long lost chew toy.

What he found, instead, was an umbrella of untold powers. An instrument of intelligence that granted him the power to summon forth bursts of lava of unseen proportions, and the ability to call down bolts of lightning the Titans themselves could not have prepared for.

It also made him look hilarious. And he loved it.

Now, as he roars into battle along side his guild, Green Mamba, his allies come to learn that the true power of intelligence is not found in an orb, a staff, or even a shield, but rather in the beautiful, flowerly folds of a mythical umbrella found buried underneath the forest of Jade.

On a less stupid note:
Didn't have to visit even 5 Pandaren digsites before the umbrella made its appearance. Probably four more from that, and it was mine. I'm not a big raider, so this was a significant gear upgrade for me. 463 item level that's BOA, as well, so even if you ARE a big raider, or digging on a non-int character, this thing is worth finding.

If you have this, you should upgrade it before 5.2 hits, as they are doing away with the upgrade system when that patch hits.

I have to say... I love the convenience of having this item (has helped my fresh 85 Lock heaps) and I love the look of it. However: any time I use dressing room or MogIt to check gear out (which is on pretty much a daily basis, any time something I can wear drops or I decide to change my mog), this thing GETS IN THE WAY! So much so that I have to un-equip it just to do that or I can barely see the robe/pants I'm trying to view. I realise that's a cosmetic thing and maybe a personal thing but it's extremely annoying for this mog freak. Wish it didn't do that.

Even with this transmogged to something else, it doesn't solve the problem since it still pops up in MogIt tooltips as the original item, not the transmog. Gah! >_<

I'm looking for similar patterns that this has. This, along with my Scavenged Pandaren Scepter, both have the dark clouds on it. I'm looking more for the purple, so I can keep the set going. If you know of any other items, especially leather clothes please let me know! Thanks.
