Planting 100 pieces of this seed brought me the results below.

Amount distribution of germinated herbs / (harvested pieces):

Silkweed: 19 / (56)
Green Tea Leaf: 17 / (58)
Rain Poppy: 23 / (78)
Fool's Cap: 19 / (60)
Snow Lily: 18 / (64)
Golden Lotus: 4 / (4)

They're kinda balanced except the Lotus.

UPDATE: With the Patch 5.1, the amount of Golden Lotus you can buy for Spirit of Harmony at the Pandaria capitals is reduced to 2 (was 3). In addition to that, the chance that Enigma Seed can germinate into Golden Lotus has been increased slightly, making it more efficient to farm through Enigma Seed.

You are much better off planting the songbell seeds and buying 2 golden lotus for 1 spirit of Harmony. Based on at least my servers economy, nothing else comes close to that price. WIth a 16 plot farm, you can get 3.2 golden lotus every day. (about 1k value on my server)(##RESPBREAK##)12##DELIM##Sas148##DELIM##

Raptorleaf Seed gives you Mist-Touched Leather or Magnificent Hide

Ever since 5.1, I'm seeing greatly improved "drop rates" for golden lotus with these seeds. I've planted them three days in a row now and gethered three, two and four golden lotus respectively. If you're after golden lotus, it seems these seeds are your best bet again, especially now that the spirit of harmony trade-in has been nerfed to two.

One thing that changed in Patch 5.1 was the amount of Golden Lotus sold by the Spirit of Harmony vendors, being reduced from 3 to 2 per Spirit of Harmony.

The other change is the increased drop rate of Golden Lotus from Enigma Seeds. Before Patch 5.1, Golden Lotus had a fairly low drop rate, making it more efficient to farm through the Spirit of Harmony Vendors and Songbell Seeds.

After the reduction in the amount you get when trading in Spirit of Harmony and the increased drop rate of Golden Lotus from Enigma Seeds it is now more efficient to plant Enigma Seeds!

One other small change you may not have noticed in Patch 5.1 notes is the Growing buff that tells you how long your crops need to grow before they are ready for harvesting.

Taken from mmo-champion. Seems like these are now one of the better methods of farming Golden Lotus. :)

In addition to the increased chance of Golden Lotus from the Enigma Seed that you sow on your farm since 5.1. The regular herbs grown also benefit from the 5.1 changes. Specifically that all Green Tea Leaf, Rain Poppy, Silkweed, Silkweed, Snow Lily, and Fool's Cap plants have a chance to proc a Golden Lotus.

Enigma Seed as Blatterjr a few posts above me stated - Just created a new account so I´m able to post comments but for some perticular reason I can´t "respond" on others comments, so making a fresh one here with his quote:

This means he planted 1200 Enigma Seed´s and only got 156 Golden Lotus

If he would of planted 1200 Songbell Seed he would of got 1200 Mote of Harmony wich means he would of gotten 120x Spirit of Harmony. You buy 2x Golden lotuses for 1 spirit wich means 240 Golden Lotus.

Simply put:
Plant 1200xEnigma Seed and you get around 150x Golden Lotus (If your unlucky you get abit less if your lucky you get abit more.

Plant 1200x Songbell Seed and you CERTAINLY (Always) get 240x Golden Lotus

I have planted Enigma Seeds on 12 days now:
192 patches --> 50 Golden Lotus --> 26%
So I am either very lucky, or the yield has been tweaked again.

To the below commenter: I don't think the yield rate was tweaked again. I haven't noticed any noticeable change since I started planting herb gardens (since a week or so after 5.1 - between 5 and 7 characters per day). That being said, the numbers do seem extremely low given my observations on my daily yields.

I'm going to have to run a little data collection to verify, but I'm guessing actual yield rate is between 20-25% (You need 20% to break even with motes). I usually see around 3 lotus per garden; sometimes a little less, at least two characters per day tend between four and seven. Only on one occasion I can think of have I seen no lotus at all in a character's garden.

So far it is only anecdotal data, and I'll try to start running some stats on it to verify.

Ok, so the yield numbers posted here never seemed quite right for me so I collected my own data and got the following:

Total characters: 3
Plots/character: 16
Days/plot: 5

3 * 16 * 15 = 240 total harvests

Total herbs: 469
Total lotus: 83

Avg herb/plot: 1.95
Avg lotus/plot: 0.35

Notes about my collection:
- I have the bountiful bags guild perk (though previous comments indicate this does not matter)
- I never got less than 2 herbs when harvesting an herb plot
- I did not separate bonus lotuses gathered from herb plots vs. actual lotus plots

For more confirmation, here are the yield numbers I have been tracking over the past two weeks. Note that yields of golden lotus and standard herbs seem to have not been affected by patch 5.2. I didn't attempt to track the yield of the normal herbs since my intent was merely to determine golden lotus spawn rate.

Total number of plots: 920
Golden Lotus Plots: 273
Normal Plots: 647

Golden Lotus rate: 29.7%
With this size of sample, the error rate is +/- 3%. The last day or two had fairly high rates, so I'm guessing it is closer to 27-28% overall rate. I did not include the extra golden lotus from the normal herbs in this, but I'm guessing it is somewhere from 2-4% droprate on these (probably close to what you would get from normal herbing)

Just an an interesting side breakdown on the frequency of lotus per garden out of 57 herb gardens:
0 lotus: None
1 lotus: 4 (7%)
2 lotus: 2 (3.5%)
3 lotus: 9 (15.8%)
4 lotus: 13 (22.8%)
5 lotus: 14 (24.6%)
6 lotus: 6 (10.5%)
7 lotus: 3 (5.3%)
8 lotus: 3 (5.3%)
9 lotus: 3 (5.3%)

So from my sample, there was a 63% chance of getting 3, 4, or 5 lotus, and about a 10.5% chance of getting less than three.

Basically in summation: You will get close to half again the yield of golden lotus than if you would have just planted songbells.

Most of us want to know (like me at start) a little bit the drop rate when you plant some of those seed in your farm, I will try to farm those seed for few month to make an accurate post by the time.

After 160 Enigma Seed (4 Bag of Enigma Seeds) and 10 days, see what I gathered,

A total of 435 herb have been collected from 160 seed for an average of 2,72 herb per seed (March 26th)

Green Tea Leaf = 73 or 16,78% of overall
Silkweed = 47 or 10,81% of overall
Rain Poppy = 88 or 20,23% of overall
Snow Lily = 91 or 20,92% of overall
Fool's Cap = 84 or 19,31% of overall
Golden Lotus = 52 or 11,95% of overall

More data in 10 days...

At first I thought I was going insane, BUT you can (Like all other MoP herb nodes) pick up a Golden Lotus from an Enigma Seed that has turned into something else other then Golden Lotus. (Such as Fool's Cap or Green Tea Leaf)

its wierd. i m planting this with 4 of my 90s and drop rate is like this from 16 tiles (also including the extra lotus from picking up another herb):

druid (herbalist-alchemy) : 4-6
paladin (miner-jc) : 3-5
shaman (lw -skinner) : 3-4
and here comes the hunter
hunter (engineer- leveling bs atm) : 6-7! very rarely 5 and never gone below
