Scales VERY well with attack power-- ~~1 to 1, I think~~*. IE, 20,000 Attack Power = +20,000 damage to the proc. Very nice item for anyone who uses agility and can get their paws on it.

Drops from any boss (except Madness of Deathwing) in Raid Finder difficulty of the Dragon Soul.

No information about ICD or proc chance yet.

EDIT-- Spell detail for the proc says 15% chance. Still no idea on the ICD, yet, but I would assume something like 45-1:30 judging by the raw power of the proc. Actually, probably the same ICD as Hurricane.

*As demonstrated by Huwarf, the scaling rate is actually much lower then I had thought, but still very impressive.

Scaling rate increases for the normal and heroic versions-- the Heroic versions scales about .9 damage per attack power.

Ingame it says ~~"23710"~~ 22353 to 27707 physical damage for me.

I got ~~12958~~ 14615 attack power.

If It's 1:1 attack power scale it should be ~~23664 to 29017~~ 25321 to 30674 according to the info above.

But it says ~~23710~~ 22353 to 27707 ingame not ~~"23665 to 29017"~~ "25321 to 30674".

I removed Aspect of the Hawk (2600 attack power + 260 (10% from trueshot aura) = 2860 attack power), and I lost 2279 damage from min and max.

That should be 2279/2860 to get the amount of damage per attack power.

2279/2860 ≈ 0,79685

So 1000 attack power is 796.85 damage

So the scale isn't 1:1 It's a bit lower.

So 20000 attack power is 0.79685x20000 = 15937 so he miscalculated 4063 damage.

Anyone that got more info about this?

I have 16077 AP

On Hagara this was 6% of my dmg, but the fight is very movement intensive at parts.

The fight lasted 7 minutes 4 seconds (in LFR) and this procced 12 times.

It was critting between 50-101k dmg, average non-crit was 31728dmg

Will definitely have to try this out in pvp, could make for some insane burst, although its heavily RNG

EDIT: This info is not inaccurate after a patch that reduced the damage of the trinket by about 1/3 and increased its proc rate by about the same amount (to reduce its burst in PvP)

I tested it on dummy with 3 rotations of about 800 seconds each one; After each rotation, I did use wowlogparser to analize data.

It seems that the proc. has a 10% probability to be fired (25 shots from the trinket, for about 250 direct damage shots from me); Also, the minimum time between two shots from the trinket was 27s (mean time: 32s).

On real fights, the amount of shots fired will be a bit low, due to the direct damage needed to fire the probability of shot. This is noticeable on markmanship hunters that use the Aimed Shot as focus dump.

Just tested this on a dummy with my Survival hunter.

AP: 16474

In a 6 mins test:

Procced 11 times.

Normal Hits: 12162 - 15115 (9 times)
Crit: 23951 - 31722 (2 times)

ICD seems to be 30s based on the data collected. The damage was lower than I expected, dealt only 3% of my damage. Might be higher on MM or BM hunter but I'm not sure. Gonna try respeccing and see if it will do more.

I picked this up on my very first run through LFR with my hunter. Noticed a weird drop in damage and dps, checked on the test dummies and noticed I was getting the proc, but not actually doing anything with it. Some more poking around on the forums I found this thread and a confirmation the trinket is (for now) bugged.

Currently (jan. 2012) this trinket is ONLY working with melee attack power.

Just want to confirm: Vial of Shadows working only with melee attack power and not ranged attack power is indeed a bug.

Barring unforeseen complications, this will be fixed in an upcoming hotfix.

Seems like Blizzard listened to the fact that Vial was a bit too strong for PvP.

This was going to be a reply to Jaggedcircles, but apparently, it has too many characters in it. Hee hee! Anyway!

Personally, it's rather bothersome that PvP is the reason that many PvE-based things get reduced in performance. But, moving on to the more serious portion of the posting...

On a less personal note... I will say I can agree to them roughly tripling the effect proc rate in lieu of reducing the damage done. Given people report roughly a 15% proc rate with a base average damage (before Attack Power) of 13382.5, the new rate should mean roughly a 45% proc rate with a base average of 4460.83 when v4.3.2 comes around.

In both cases, the theoretical damage per 100 swings comes up to roughly 200737.5... personally, looking at it... I do like the triple proc rate version as that means for shorter fights (i.e. trash), it gives me a better average DPS rather than larger, less likely bursts. Just hope I can get one of these soon.

Edit: Looking over new information (such as internal cooldown), I'm curious what the actual DPS gain on this would be since my above statements were based purely on proc rate and average damage based on what the trinket says it does for damage. Don't suppose anyone has any numbers?

Duels against rogues dont look so good any more...on my mage with 4.2k resil i was crited for 32k and with 25k backstab that was like my shatter...oh wait, i have to cast my shatters on frozen targets. So yeah when stars align any noob can rock in pvp...I dont qq, just saying that its still powerful thing if it procs.
