Here someone states it it sold in limited suppy.. considering it needs reputation and engineering skill to buy and costs so much can we assume this is incorrect or do you need all those things AND to camp the spawn?

you know, maybe it has something to do with the price of "harvested" mats. Say skinning - you would have to skin 2000 mobs to get mats for 1000G. As a miner you would have to mine some 150 saronite veins to get 1000G. Here you are getting 3000G by engineering one mob. You see the disproportion? Maybe that is why you were asked to roll for the mats. Nobody would care if your loot was 100G but several thousands is a bit too much I think. Maybe I am wrong

Oh my, I have plenty of questions for you...

How much money do you need to spend to level up skinning and mining?

How much money do you need to level engineering?

How many nerfs has engineering been through compared to every other profession?

How many ways are there to make money with engineering compared to every other profession?

Do you understand jewelcrafting makes/made plenty of cash, even faster than what you described?

Do you understand that engineering is almost useless, save for a flying mount, vanity pets which are completely pointless, and some stupid gadgets that are, also, pointless and serve no use other than to #$%^ around.

Do you understand that Blizzard thinks Engineering is a joke, and doesn't recognize it as a profession?

Do you understand that engineering is, for ~3-4 years, the bottom-feeder of professions, and that you're complaining that it's somehow OP?

EDIT: One last one: Considering how much @#$%ing around Blizzard has done with engineering, don't you understand that the chopper should have been BoP, as well as the mats, to compensate for it?

Don't see why you'd run a ulduar with a PuG, but in that case, ya engineers roll amongst themselves.
In a guildrun, I'd be happy to share my engi loot with anyone who wanted to make the hog.

And for that matter, It's not like any profession will ever pay for itself except for mining/skinning/herb.. and perhaps enchanting

Totally off the subject, but in line with the topic of looting. Since Lock Picking is only preformed by a skilled rogue (not mentioning BS or Eng for sake of simplicity) who is ambitious enough to get off his rump and level is LP. Would it be safe to say what chest he comes across that requires his expertise should be solely his and not required to share? After all, when Artic Fur drops for skinners they do not offer everyone to roll for it. So why should blue items from chest have to be shared?

As far as rolling on items essentially being looted through professions, I don't think anything should get rolled on EXCEPT enchanting mats. The reason enchanting mats may be an exception is because the items being DE'ed would have otherwise gone to another player and could have been used strictly for their gain in the first place. If an Enchanter doesn't want to share the mats after DE'ing them, then don't advertise that you can DE them in the first place. Roll for the item just like everyone else and take your chances. Miners, skinners, tailors, etc. can all gather end game mats by themselves. The enchanting mats that get rolled on (i.e. abyss crystals/dream shards) come mostly from instances and raids that currently cannot be solo'ed. Hence, enchanters need help to get their mats, so they might want to share... Just my opinion.

when i go raiding/groups we norm greed unless we got a enchanter then at end of instance roll for mats...but skinners should get what they skin miners should get what they mine and engineers should get what they harvest but every 1 uses enchants so most people are happy to let every 1 roll on the items cause after all you pass on the loot so you can get it d/e and its utter bull!@#$ if you think that only you should get the stuff if you have the proffesion

My guild is more than happy to have me skin and take the mats. I've only done so once, and was not lucky enough to get a part. I did get a bunch of other stuff (like Saronite Bars, Eternals etc). My plan is to try and get the mats through this process as much as I can. Then once I have my own chopper, I will put the mats in the guild bank and/or use them to make choppers for guildies.

i am just curious. does ANY of the bike materials drop off any salvageable mob? because i should stop doing ulduar if so >.<

In my opinion it's pretty simple.

Imagine that you have no professions and you're grouped with players with no professions. You know before starting the run that you will get no skin, no ore, no salvaged parts but you will have a chance to win a drop no one wants and be able to vendor it for a bit of gold.

A skinner joins the group and skins the mobs without sharing with you. From your point of view it doesn't change anything, he takes nothing from you, you still get no skin, no ore, no salvaged parts and a chance for a drop to vendor to pay for repairs.

The same goes for miners and engineers, they only pick up stuff that would never be available to you anyway, so why should you care?

Enchanters on the other hand claims the drops you would normally vendor for a bit of money to pay for repairs, that's why the enchanter isn't allowed to just claim everything. The enchanter is actually taking something away from you, unless he's willing to share the shards.

Skinners, miners and engineers brings you no loss whatsoever, so you should stop caring what they do. An enchanter grabbing every unused drop and keeping it is taking away your chance to earn a bit for repairs.

That's his point. If the enchanter rolls greed on the item and then disenchants it, it's no loss to you. However, he doesn't get to take everything that nobody needs as an upgrade and keep the shards, dusts and essences.
Engineers can keep whatever they "skin" off of mechanical mobs, herbalists can keep the herbs they "mine". It makes no difference to me - there wouldn't have been anything for anyone, if they hadn't had that profession.

Wrong. Those without enchanting can roll to get the item and can vendor it if they cannot use it. They should not have the ability to use someone elses prof to get mats unless the person with enchanting gets something for it.

Bliz blew it on this change. What once was profitable for enchanters, ie. enchanting items such as Dream Shards and Abyss Crystals, are cheap because of the abundance of them coming from DE'd items. Sounds good for those that don't have enchanting, but for those that leveld and paid for enchanting, getting less for Abyss Crystals and Dream Shards, sucks. If no enchater is present, then no DE'd items from that run period. Getting them just because an enchanter is present is not right.

Professional drops shouldn't be rolled for unless it's from someone with the same bloody profession. I'm not sharing Titanium with a Leatherworker, I'm not sharing my Arctic Fur with a Blacksmith. I've never shared engineering parts with a tailor, nor will I ever. Most people that complain about this are cheap and don't want to buy it, or are concerned that the person looting won't use it at all.

This item is sold by Roxi Ramrocket in K3 in Storm Peaks. When you teleport to Storm Peaks just go outside walls and try to find flying machine, he is near by that machine. I found this item while making Mechano-hog.

Got my Goblin max faction with horde expedition today.
Goblin machined Piston =700
Salvaged Iron Golem Parts =2100
Elementium Plated Exhaust Pipe =1050

Not sure the % of discount because i never saw the prices before.
But all the vender parts will cost you 8750

Looks like they nerfed the saving in todays patch

As a Goblin Engineer guild level 25 my prices were:

Goblin machined Piston @ 900g ea
Salvaged Iron Golem Parts @ 2700g
Elementium Plated Exhaust Pipe @ 1350g

Total: 11250g

While the Goblin race first received the full 20% discount from this vendor, this is no longer the case. I actually submitted a ticket and received this GM response:

We forewarded this to our Quality Assurance people and they determined that it's not a bug. This vendor NPC has no associated faction, the discount for Goblins treats them as if they were exalted with all factions.
It's the same deal with Michelle De Rum. Other notable vendors who have no faction affiliation are Yasmin, Helpful Jungle Money, and Salvaged Goods.
It's possible the vendor had a faction affilation at one point, that is no longer the case.

If this vendor never had a faction affiliation before, then the 20% discount was likely a bug.

I don't know where you get this, because it isn't sold by Roxi Ramrocket; even if you are an engineer... unless you need to be a certain level of engineer.

“Roxi Ramrocket” at K3 in Storm Peaks. Go to where the plain is just outside the walls. (Flight guys is right there) He sells just the parts to the bike and yes the price is the same as in the Vale. Also “Big Keech” in the Vale (Open big map look in center “The Golden Pagoda” He walks from the "P to the "A" below the word "PAGODA" Its a trail)
