3 pieces: Reduces the threat generated by your Scorch, Arcane Missiles, Fireball, and Frostbolt spells.
5 pieces: Increases the radius of Arcane Explosion, Flamestrike, and Blizzard by 25%.
8 pieces: 10% chance after casting Arcane Missiles, Fireball, or Frostbolt to reduce the cast time of Arcane Blast, Fireball, and Frostbolt by 10% for 10 sec.

Arcanist boots Have less Stamina Less Intellect then NW does. Also they only add +11 damage where as NW adds 27...Sorry but 1% crit does not = a 16 dmg difference. +Damage is far more reliable for both pvp and pve then a couple of extra crit %'s will be. There are alot of posted formulas around the internet from tests comparing crit % to + dmg. Most the numbers are usually 9-10 dmg = 1% crit over the course of time. however Crit% is luck while + dmg is assured. SOrry but any mage Who didn't buy there account off ebay would use NW boots over arcanist.

unless your regularly hitting your main damage spell for 1.6k noncrit, then these boots are better than arcanists, if you are hitting for over 1.6k, then the arcanists are better, as 1% crit = 1% damage (roughly, including talents of course) so 1.6k damage = 16 bonus damage for 1% crit, hence if you are hitting for more than 1.6k damage per hit, then the extra crit will help you more... good luck getting that in a non-raid situation though.

Does anyone else think that the base stats, stamina and intellect, seem a bit low for a tier two epic set?
Sure the spell damage is nice, but the base stats seem weak.

This boots makes my raid cry, we can hardly give them away for DKP and have melted them 3 times now and it kindof annoys me that us mages get jipped on our sets, the end game is all about +damage noone needs big mana pool snowblind boots are 3x as good

They're okay, but only slightly better than the easy to get and totally dkp-free dragonrider boots.
