These wood numbers are calculated for crafting decorations from all professions in Early Access Housing. With the launch of the new Midnight expansion, these numbers will likely change.

Ironwood Lumber (Kalimdor and Eastern Kingdoms): you need 506 pieces
Olemba Lumber (Outland Zones): you need 512 pieces
Coldwind Lumber (Northrend Zones): you need 465 pieces
Ashwood Lumber (Cataclysm Zones): you need 451 pieces
Bamboo Lumber (Mists of Pandaria Zones): you need 526 pieces
Shadowmoon Lumber (Draenor Zones): you need 451 pieces
Fel-Touched Lumber (Broken Isle Zones and Argus): you need 594 pieces
Darkpine Lumber (Battle for Azeroth Zones): you need 476 pieces
Arden Lumber (Shadowlands Zones): you need 532 pieces
Dragonpine Lumber (Dragonflight Zones): you need 654 pieces
Dornic Fir Lumber (Khaz Algar and K'aresh): you need 559 pieces

Note that there isn't any Arden Lumber in Zereth Mortis, and I assume there's none in Korthia, either.

Compared a few different spots for this Lumber:

Ardenweald: 250 lumber/hour
Revendreth: 280 lumber/hour
Bastion: 230 lumber/hour
Maldraxxus: 210 lumber/hour

This is on a druid fully focused on gathering lumber with no distractions. As it turns out, there are no good zones for Lumber in Shadowlands. Bastion and Maldraxxus are some of the worst I've seen so far. Ardenweald seems to be the most popular choice for this, but I did not have good results myself. Revendreth is the least bad, and at least it's open and fairly easy to navigate.

Another expansions where the lumber options are trash. Zerith Mortis would be the only zone with the correct tree placement for easy farming...

Big shout out to Amaine, lithiumburrito and TheCheat54 for doing all the calculations - im adding my 2 cents in and if you are like me and want to work from the hardest to easiest farm (biggest number to lowest number) here you go :)

Dragonpine Lumber - 654 total
Fel-touched Lumber - 594 total
Dornic Fir Lumber - 559 total
Arden Lumber - 532 total
Bamboo Lumber - 526 total
Olemba Lumber - 512 total
Ironwood Lumber - 506 total
Darkpine Lumber - 476 total

If you are a completionist like me i would suggest doing PvP queues while you farm... farm those Mark of Honor

If you're wondering, like I was, how to even gather Lumber:

You will need to unlock the ability to see and collect Lumber by completing the quest Serve del legname, which is part of the Introduction Questline to Player Housing.

If you have already completed the Intro to Housing Questline on a character on your account, you will not have to complete it again on each subsequent character.

Instead, in order to unlock Lumber on alts:

1) Travel to your capital city's Portal Room; take the portal to your faction's Housing Area
2) Fly to the central hub and locate your faction's Lumberjack NPC near the "House Upgrades" NPC (the Horde Lumberjack is Xiz'ro, at /way 53.63, 56.73)
3) Speak to the Lumberjack NPC and buy Accetta da Raccolta from him for 25 Gold
4) Open your inventory and use the Accetta da Raccolta
5) Voila! Now your character can see and collect Lumbers across Azeroth and beyond.

532 x Legname di Arden Farming takes about 2-3 h. According to @Beace (thx!) Revendreth and Ardenweald are decent for farming. Consider chosing a specific zone and combine it with farming some of the following crafting reagents for decors.

You need to harvest 250 of this type of lumber to earn the achievement Taglialegna tetro and from then on, you can gather the lumber while mounted. Speeds up the process quite a bit, unless you're druid.
