This costume will be required for the achievement To The Afterlife and the following Vientos! and Calavera.

If the Day of the Dead holiday will retain his actual format, being a one day event, i think that (hopefully) this item will be easily obtained, maybe even sold by merchants.

Day of the Dead has new items this year!(2014) Don't forget to pick up a Contender's Costume, usable all year round! It looks like this will be a fun little vanity item after the event is over

What I've noticed so far, there will probably be some hot fixes soon about the points I'm mentioning:

• Your are flexing your muscles whenever you're using the costumes.

• The different costumes shares cooldown.

• At the moment, you're able to use some class abilities with the costumes, including Stealth. I believe they'll prevent you from using all class abilities soon. When you can't cast a spell, you'll get an error saying "Can't attack while pacified".

• You're not able to heal up yourself, but you are able to eat up your health.

• The buff is 10 minutes long and removable while the cooldown of the items are 1 minute.

• The abilities you get by the costumes drops percent of your health. So it doesn't matter how low or high hp you have!

This costume is a reference to the Mexican wrestler "Blue Demon" who is famous for his wrestling career and appearing with "El Santo"(who also has a mask after him) in a couple of movies a few decades ago.

Glad to see this reference, the other costumes are most likely references about other wrestlers.

This + Giuramento del Guardiano del Fuoco = Moneta Insanguinata but sometimes I get the debuff after one kill and other times I get it after a few, not sure why.

For Stregones, Legame delle Anime will mitigate the damage you take from other contenders and Cicatrizzazione will still heal you while costumed.

In patch 6.2 this will change to a toy, so you only need to buy one of them!

Its to bad for me I bought all 5 of these for 6 of my character. I knew blizzard was going to make this one a toy one day! >.>

This toy can be used as a trick to enter in the secret caves (one is at 50.69, 75.32 in Krokuun) in Argus using the ability Attacco in Salto. Just use it in front of the cave, which is sealed by stones, and you will enter it. The other toys listed below (all acquired in the event Day of the Dead can be used:
