This is an excellent guide, as far as content goes, but I am a little concerned that the lack of segmentation will make it hard to read. Would you be willing to change it up a little before we post it?

Also, if you want, you can replace NPC and spell links with \ and \ where xxxxx is the respective ID. I personally think it looks prettier.

I am approving this guide, but I strongly suggest you make use of our markup to separate categories and possibly add images for each boss. It's a great guide, but it is a wall of text without any division.

There is a ton of good info here. Simple to follow boss straits, with a mix of math at the end. Its pretty ovibouse that you've put some time into this guide, and actually doing the runs.

The overall formatting is non-existent though =/

Take a look at Rinor's Zul'Aman: Speed run Guide He has several step by step directions, and very detailed information, but it all is condenced pretty seamlessly into 2 Tab views. Part 1 and Part 2. You could do a similar set up, with Part 1 being pre-quests, and Part 2 being Kara run.

Ashelia's suggestions of images is very good one. If you are writing this guide for people who have never stepped into Kara, it might be a good idea to take screen shots of the ares in front of each boss encounter. This would help new adventures better keep their barrings.

If you don't want to wait a week between the runs you can also farm rep by clearing the Servants Quarter over and over. The boss in there doesn't get you saved so you can go out and reset. I did this at lvl 80 to farm rep solo, and they can easily be AoE'd down at lvl 85.
Don't remember how much rep each clear gives, and you will probably hit the hourly cap on (5?) new instances. Probably more boring too. But it takes less time (IRL, dunno about in-game) as you won't have to wait a week for every reset.

I've modified it so it's much easier to read and understand. It is still a little sloppy with the hidden triggers but I wanted to keep them in order.

Head down to the World End Tavern in Shattrath City and use the portal to the Caverns of Time.

Spent about 10 minutes flying around and looking for the Tavern. Spent 5 minutes running around and looking for the portal. Is it even there?

Having soloed the raid now i can say the guide really is good, but some things however were not so precise or clear. A nice thing was I fought Terestian Illhoof and never encountered the mentioned ability, although I fought him for a minute or more.

Besides that portal mentioned in the previous post I encountered two more problems.

Head into the Master's Terrace and click on the Blackened Urn to summon Nightbane.

To those doing it for the first time it might be worse noting that the mentioned Master's Terrace is the ring-like ledge coloured green in the map. I couldn't find the Urn, so I searched also on the higher balcony whos area also is Master's Terrace.

The Blackened Urn was another 15-minute problem. It's a really small urn located by the outer side of the Terrace. A little north (up) from the skull in the map if I recall it correctly.

The second problem was working with beams in the Netherspite encounter. The mentioned tactics didn't work that well for me. It's not that easy to get in the middle of the room and although I kinda were there, the beams kept following Netherspite.

I suggest doing the fight like this: wait for Netherspite to move far in the back of the room. Then engage him, positioning him near the far wall and yourself some yards towards the middle of the room. That way you should be between Netherspite and any of the portals, so all beams will surely hit you and not him.

Just a note on converting to a raid. I created a free account and leveled a character to 10 so I could use it as a raid invite.

Launch the game for your raid runner. Launch the game again and login to the free account. Invite, (you must have the low level toon in your friends list), convert to a raid and exit the free account instance of the game.

The toon will still be in your raid, so when you're exiting and entering the instance for quest turn-ins, you can just pop back in without having to create the raid group again.

This is a fantastic and well organized guide. I've tagged along a handful of times through Kara to help guildees and always been lost. Using your guide fixed that completely.

There were only two points that I felt were confusing for people who have never been inside before:

1. The Broken Stairs go on forever. It might be worth mentioning this, since I thought I had overlooked or missed something. Also I got a bit turned around and didn't realize that, when you reach Magister's Terrace, you had to find the stairs and continue ascending.

2. I got seriously lost looking for the Gamesman's Hall. This is because there are two forks, but only one is mentioned. The first fork comes with the door-or-ascend choice to the Shade of Aran, which you mention. However, if you choose ascend, you will eventually come to a round room of etherals and an up-or-down fork. Because of my camera angle (and the fact I wasn't looking for a fork), I missed the "down" option that leads to the game room and wandered forever, frustrated.

3. A third point is that, for those in search of something specific - such as enchanting patterns or pets/mounts, there generally isn't a need to kill everything. Obviously if you are searching for gold or mats, you want to, but you don't have to in order for most bosses to spawn.

Overall, however, fantastic work! Thank you for taking the time to put these together! Now I'm searching for other guides for the Raiding With Leashes II achievement and hoping you have composed those too! ;)

Just wanted to add to this that I went from 0/3000 Neutral to 3321/21000 Revered by following this guide and doing all of the optional side quests. The only bit that I did more than once was the animal boss wing.

Just as one more thing to add, when you turn in La nuova direttiva, you get Distintivo Viola but also 3000 rep with Violet Eye.

You don't need Revered with Honor Hold/Thrallmar and Lower City for the quest chain to summon Nightbane. I'm currently sitting at Honored with both factions and Honored with Violet Eye and was able to pick up Medivh's Journal.

Part 3 of the chess event makes no sense.

"3. Now control your Queen (Orc Warlock or Human Conjurer) piece and use their main ability against the opposing King piece."

I move my 3 pieces forward, then control the mage, but the opposing king is too far out of range.

1. Head back into Karazhan, this time using the side entrance.

The side entrance must be unlocked from the inside to be used from the outside. However, it can't be unlocked until after the Noctumor quest line brings you back to Karazhan. So it isn't possible to "return using the side entrance". You have to return and go inside and unlock the side entrance. I'm not sure if it is particularly useful after that (if you're soloing it), since you're already inside, but in the past everyone would have completed the attunement and been able to unlock the door for the group to return later. I wasted a lot of time figuring this out, so perhaps you could add this to the guide.

Thank you for this. I recently just started playing again (stopped playing just before Wrath of the Lich King) and had to make a new account. I tried to run Karazhan but couldn't make it by the chess event until I used your strategy and worked first attempt. Was also the only thing keeping from Outland Raider Achievement. Now I just need 10,134 rep to reach fully Exalted with The Violet Eye.

How in the hell do you move your chess pieces? It won't let me control any piece except my king! What the hell?

I haven't lost the chess event for ages. First thing I do is move the 4 pawns that are in front of the knights, queen and king. Then I move the towers in front of the knights. Around that time Medihv usually starts cheating and will drop fire under your king, control him and move him forward. After that just control the queen and keep both out of fire (priority being the king). Use the queen to DPS the enemy king if he's in range, otherwise just focus on other priority targets (queen>bishops>knights>towers).
I've never lost with this strategy. Sometimes it takes a while for the enemy king to move into range, other times he's one of the first to come in range.

It might also be worth noting (on the Nightbane tab) that summoning cannot be done until the quest chain is completed. I have the quest for Diario di Medivh and have already killed Aran. Had I known that I needed to complete that quest in order to get the quest to summon Nightbane, I would have waited until I had the quest to kill that boss.

Not a biggie but it saves a week if you know that the quest has to be completed first.

Just soloed old Karazhan on a new character and the Blackened Urn was available to click. I think it is just available to use, and no quest is necessary.

The chess game was hard the first time then i just used the conjurer to do some damage to the warchief since he can do ranged damage and DOT then used the king to kill him off

This REALLY needs a change of title. Quick? Really? Lol. Obviously the guide is not the problem. This raid is extremely confusing, needs to be greatly simplified, especially now with the dungeons out.

If anyone is reading this now, I should warn about the Chess Event. The guide says:

"First of all, I've noticed a lot of people complaining that they don't know how to dismiss the piece they are controlling. It's simple, click on the pet portrait and click Dismiss."

DO NOT DO THIS! It will make the piece disappear, ruining the entire Event.

CHESS EVENT NOTE:
I figured it was worth noting that as of patch 8.1, I failed the chess event the first time. Stayed in the room where the pieces are and waited about 5 - 10 minutes until the game respawned. After that, I did a /reload and started the event again without difficulty. Don't waste your time leaving the instance/killing yourself to respawn. Happy hunting.

For the Chess Event, you may need to disable the BarTender add-on otherwise certain abilities (such as exiting a chess piece) may not work.
