What is it good for?

Professions - it allows you to pick Draenor herbs in your garrison for professions that need them regardless of whether you have Herbalism.

Transmog - there is a set of farm tools that can be transmogged as weapons.

Battle pets - there are two pets which can be acquired at the Garden.

Costs and Blueprints

Preset Building Upgrade Costs: Level 1 is free, Level 2 is 0 Risorse per la Guarnigione and , Level 3 is 0 Risorse per la Guarnigione and

Preset building Level 1 blueprints require a short quest. These buildings can be put on a level 2 Garrison: Mine at 92, Fishing Shack at 94, and Herb Garden at 96.

The level 2 versions of these blueprints can be purchased for and the Level 3 versions require you to be level 100 and complete a special achievement.

Level 3 blueprints also cost , require you to be level 100 and complete Collezionista di Semi Draenoriani.

Level 1: Grows Draenic Seeds into herbs each day and herbalism nodes are available in the garden. 7 Work Orders.

Level 2: Allows followers with the Herbalism trait to work here, granting a unique bonus (can select herbs you want to grow). Also increases the amount of herbs that can be harvested at the garden. 14 Work Orders.

Level 3: Grow a unique Draenor fruit tree in your garden that grants food buffs. 21 Work Orders.

Decided to experiment with the follower. it seems they have to stay working there, I assume over the reset hump, in order for the her selection to stay active. I assigned a follower, picked frostweed, and then sent it off for the day. My garden had more frostweed than usual, but not all. I left it there last night, and my garden was full frostweed this morning. I am going to play with it further by unassigning for the day, and just throwing it on there before reset to see if that's the magic min/max line

Shame the transmog weapons are only for 1H Mace and Staff. I would have liked the Sickle for my Rogue that has a pair of Daggers.

As the weapons are white items will they work for transmog? Probably a stupid question but I'm no transmog expert.

There was a bug with my T3 herb garden (horde side)

The tree refused to give any fruit. I had a worker assigned to it since it was T2. Seems that's what caused the problem. I removed him and added him again and presto! Fruit!

there is no benefit if you have herbalism? still getting 16 nodes at lev3? or maybe other benefit im missing?

Does the followers level affect the effectiveness? Not sure if I have to level Fiona (for maximum results, of course) or instantly assign her to the garden... :s

When you assign a follower to the Giardino at your Tavolo dell'Architetto, and then speak to Olly Nimkip/Nali Suolo Soffice to start work orders, it says "Follower bonus active!" in green in the lower left of the window. So assigning a follower appears to boost work order output here, as it does with the crafting buildings, even though that's not documented anywhere. However I cannot confirm the effect because for the moment I'm saving up my Semi Draenoriani.

This is a really fantastic guide, and as such it kind of blends in with all the other bazillion excellent guides (especially the Draenor guides) here on Wowhead.

I guess I got jaded by taking part in the Beta, so only today did I finally find myself here reading the Guide to the Garrison Herb Garden.

Well, duh! Did I ever lose out, because I could have been selecting preferred herbs for some of my profession needs on several toons... "Bad player! Bad Bad!"

A note about the fruit tree: Even though the item says it can stack to 20 it lies. You can only pick up 10 of each fruit at a time. I've seen no more than 2 different fruits on a given day. Also, because these are considered "conjured" they vanish after being logged out for 15 minutes.

What is the point of having Herbalism as a profession when you have a level 3 herb garden that can produce any time of herb you need or ask for?

I currently have herbalism as a profession and I am thinking about dropping it for a new profession. Is the only benefit of keeping it, the fact that I get more draenic seeds because I can pick herbs out in the world? If so, that's not much incentive to keep the profession, especially when seeds are only used for work orders and lame transom garden tools. Only thing worth spending seeds on is the work orders and the battle pet, but you can gain the seeds from your garden.

Just trying to figure out if its worth it or not to keep it.

Very disappointed overall with professions this expansion. :(

I have herbalism as a profession on my main but not on my alt. Getting the herb garden going was a breeze on my main because I can get SEEDS outside the garrison which my poor alt cannot. I've had my alt's garden at level 3 for a little while now and am only getting 20-24 seeds every time I pick my garrison herbs which means I have nowhere near enough to fill the work orders. The podlings don't drop seeds and you can't buy them from the primals vendor like you can other soulbound reagent items like truesteel ingots, burnished leather, etc. While my alt doesn't need a lot of herbs, raising the garden to level 3 is beginning to seem like a waste since it doesn't appear I'll ever utilize the additional work order availability.

Just curious how others without herbalism as a profession are handling this.

So I'm having an issue with the nodes. I have a level 3 Garden as well as a follower assigned. I have the fruit tree that drops fruits at times - so it would seem all is good. I only have 15 nodes that produce herbs. I have one alone under the lamp in the garden that never produces anything. Have I missed something?

Great guide, but I have one really basic question. I've just unlocked the garden and have Draenic seeds, but who do I speak to to place a work order in the herb garden? The quest-giver just sells shovels, and I can't see any NPCs to talk to to place orders, like I do in the lumber yard.

Does assigning a follower with herbalism increase herb generation at the nodes or just the work order aspect of the garden? Does Fiona/Rala's follower level affect any aspect of herb garden gathering?

Okay so I had an issue with the follower I assigned not being in the herb garden but wandering my garrison. Every time I talked to my follower assigned to the herb garden he only asked if I wanted him to patrol with me and wouldnt allow me to pick the herb I wanted to plant.

Just talk to the vendor in you garden (the one that sells the shovels and hoes and stuff) while you have a follower assigned and you will be able to pick.

For anyone and everyone having herb garden issues getting the herbs grown you want. The follower must be present working at the herb garden when daily quests reset, that is when the herbs respawn. If the herb garden follower is not working at that time, you will not get what you've asked for.

The failure to have any fruit drop from the tree seems to be back, after having been fixed a couple months ago.

None of my 4 alts have seen any fruit for over a week.

Filing a bug report

resetting the gui used to sometimes fix this, but I shouldn't have to go thru that. Removing add-ons and reset gui. doesn't seem to fix it for me.

On Herb Garden work orders, it is worth noting that you will get ~~40%~~ 60% extra herbs at the most when you assign a follower to work in the garden, i.e. you can get a maximum of 7 8 herbs (up from 5) from 1 work order. ~~This is due to the rounding down by Blizzard (@50%, you're supposed to get 7.5, but Blizzard drops the .5).~~

Edit: Seems that Blizzard decided to give us an extra .5.

I have come here to find out if you have a full Herb Garden, for e.g. with Erba del Gelo - and you did not pick/collect them for that day, at the reset time if you don't have the follower with the Herbalism profession trait assigned to the Herb Garden:

do the herbs get replaced with the default "random planting" (variety) of herbs? or
do the Erba del Gelo (as in this e.g.) herbs remain planted (uncollected) as they would in real life?

ANSWER:
After doing some testing and checking trying a few different scenarios, I found out how it works. I thought I would post what I had found out, for those of you that were wondering about this too (so you don't have to waste time and materials to find out). As many of us know, Blizzard doesn't always have things work in-game as they would in real life - to improve gameplay, etc., but in this case, the Herb Garden does essentially "work" as a garden would in the real world.

Using the e.g. I used above with Erba del Gelo:

If you have a full crop of Erba del Gelo left uncollected past the daily reset, no matter if you have the follower with the Herbalism profession trait assigned to the Herb Garden or not, the crop will remain as Erba del Gelo until gathered.
If you have the default "random planting" left uncollected past the daily reset, no matter if you have the follower with the Herbalism profession trait assigned to the Herb Garden or not (and more importantly: regardless if you do have the follower assigned, and you have chosen to grow Erba del Gelo), the crop will remain as "random planting" until gathered.

TL/DR:
Whatever has grown in your Herb Garden will remain there as is, until you gather it, to make room for something new to grow.

Worth noting that your follower and chosen herb affects everything, work order and even the herbs you get from the random beasties that appear. Careful what you wish for ;)

All fruit from the Garrison Herb Garden fruit tree now grant +150 in whatever stat corresponds with the type of fruit. Not sure when this was changed or if it is intentional or if it only happens for max level characters? I have only checked on 110's. The Tooltips still say +75. I submitted a bug report to blizzard but as of today, they are still giving +150. This is actually really good considering they are free....

After visiting my old hangout:

Only use now is:

Draenic Seeds for the Pets (Crazy Carrot which is Cageable to sell, Nightshade Sproutling also Cageable) and the Farmhand Transmog items.

Gorgrond Flytrap plant can be used by tailors for the Hexweave Bags to sell.

Frostweed - alchemical catalyst used in transmuting sorcerous elements into sorcerous earth for hexweave cloth (depends on server price).

Everything else can be milled and made into cards of omen.

Level 3 garrison also has the daily trader, a trader that accepts WoD mats to exchange for primal spirits.
Also sells recipes that bypasses the daily CD. eg tailoring - 1 primal + 10 fur is 2 hexweave with no cooldown.

Anyone else got ideas?

If you assign a follower with Herbalism to your Level 2 Herb Garden, you can choose the type of herb to grow in your Garden and increase the amount of herbs gathered up to 8.

These are the types of herbs you can specify: Talador Orchid, Nagrand Arrowbloom, Starflower, Gorgrond Flytrap, Fireweed, Frostweed. Speak to Tarnon or Naron Bloomthistle to specify the herb you want.

I checked on my alt who has a level 3 herb garden, and he can grow everything except Gorgrond Flytrap. I have no idea why they removed this as an option. I checked my main and he had a Gorgrond Flytrap guarden. I collected all the herbs and checked his options, but the ability to grow them wasn't there. I X'd the window to see if they will grow again, but sinceI'm thinking they removed the option so they will likely grow up as randoms.

Another theory I had is that you can only grow one type per account, but then people with more chars than herbs would be forced to grow randoms. Maybe someone should science this out.

EDIT: Turns out I already had it selected, which is why it doesn't show up. Also, if you have a type selected, but you remove the follower tending the garden, random herbs grow. This is what happened I believe. I must have moved my follower for a mission, and replaced them, but the randoms grew in between.

As of this patch 9.0. The quest to open the herb garden unlocks at level 30.

Frostweed is no longer an option to plant. Its either any of the draenor plants or a random mix. Since Frostweed is used to power the garrison buildings and their automated functions i am not surprised that they took this away. Makign the player grind out once again the frostweek on their own in the real world.

Fun detrected and a little bit less work detected so nerfed into the ground and made the player once again gather frostweek manually.

There is no option to get this in the late dragonflight patch thati am on. The War Within, the next expac, is now two months away.
