Artifacts
Artifacts are ultimate, powerful weapons designed for a hero. From Ashbringer to Doomhammer, these weapons are steeped in lore. Artifact Weapons impact your gameplay in several major ways: they serve as your only weapon in Legion, they buff specific abilities via traits, and they increase your ilvl through relic gems. They also have a fun transmog component as there are 20 appearances to unlock at launch.
The main artifact weapon guide on Wowhead, covering all topics in great detail, is the
Guide to Artifact Weapons
by jjanchan. In this guide you will find:
All artifacts by spec
: any hidden abilities like
Gaze of the Val'kyr
, and flavor effects like
Xal'atath, Blade of the Black Empire
whispering you.
Traits
: their perks, costs, how to acquire traits, and max level bonus traits.
Relics
: how they increase ilvl, how they modify traits, and how to acquire them.
Acquiring artifacts
: your first one and later ones for offspecs.
Artifact Knowledge
: how this increases the rate at which you acquire Artifact Power, how to increase your AK level, how much extra AK you get at each rank.
Artifact Appearances
: Every appearance organized by spec, how to get them, and modelviewer and video links.
Artifact Lore, Wowhead's Art Interview on Artifacts, and FAQ.
We've also created a variety of other Artifact Weapon needs, to suit all playstyles and interests:
Just want the basics? We've made a bite-sized guide covering the essentials to acquiring and enhancing your weapon:
Artifact Weapon Basics
.
Each spec has a unique questline to acquire their artifact weapon at level 98. We have made
guides to each artifact weapon
which detail each step of the questline as well as
videos to each questline
.
Acquiring and Spending Artifact Power and Knowledge
covers how to earn the currency to purchase more Artifact Weapon traits and how much each costs! This can be sped up at level 110 with Artifact Knowledge, a system that grants you more power than usual from Artifact items.
How to Unlock Artifact Appearances
covers each method of acquisition and how difficult it is
One set of appearances is locked behind a hidden method of acquisition. Wowhead users have been tracking them down, which are compiled in the
Hidden Appearances and Effects
guide.
Each
Artifact Weapon Guide
includes screenshots and videos of all weapon appearances for that artifact and the
Guide to All Artifact Weapons
links to every single appearance and detailed source.
The
Artifact Weapon Calculator
Appearance tab lets you preview all appearances in the modelviewer, and the
Dressing Room
lets you try them on.
Last but not least, all
Legion Class Guides
include recommended Artifact Traits Build Paths and suggested Relics.
Gearing Up in Legion
Early Legion Gearing Guide
|
Gear Recommendations
|
Legion Legendaries
Gear in Legion is designed around a fresh perspective; there are equivalent gearing paths and gear from most content has a small chance to proc the highest possible item level. For a few weeks at launch, the maximum cap is 850; it will increase to 895 later in Legion.
If an item appears up to 10 ilvls above the base, it will be marked as Warforged in the tooltip. If an item procs +15 or higher, it wll be marked as Titanforged. For example, If you love solo questing, there's a small chance your rewards from World Quests can proc Titanforged and be the same level as loot from a Mythic Dungeon.
Personal loot can now be traded. To trade it, you must have previously looted an item for that slot that is of the same ilvl or higher. This means that if you previously looted an ilvl 720 trinket and you win an ilvl 710 trinket, you can trade it to others.
Gearing Up Before Raids in Legion
covers all the different ways to acquire loot in early Legion, before
The Emerald Nightmare
opens:
Mythic Dungeon
loot starts at 840; we have
strategy guides
to all of these dungeons.
Court of Stars
and
The Arcway
have notable Mythic 2-piece itemsets.
World Quests
are a new max-level quest system. There is a small chance these quests will reward gear; the rewards start at ilvl 805 and progressively better ones are available as your ilvl increases.
Crafted Gear
: The best crafted gear starts at ilvl 815 after completing a long questline. This can be upgraded to 850 via the Obliterum Forge and
Obliterum
, which is created by incinerating old crafted gear.
Class Hall Set
: Each piece of the Class Hall set is acquired by completing Legion Content, such as killing dungeon bosses or earning reputation. Each piece has a fixed ilvl between 810 and 850, and players can purchase upgrade tokens so eventually the full set can reach 840 (with shoulders at 850).
World Bosses
are up at launch, when their corresponding World Quest is up. They drop 850 loot; after raids open, they will drop 860 loot.
Reputation Gear
: There are ilvl 820 items at Revered and ilvl 850 items at Exalted. Nightfallen reputation also has a few more items at Friendly and Revered.
Legendaries
are ilvl 895 world drops and come with a powerful effect which transforms one of your spec abilities. You can only equip one at launch.
Wowhead Class Guide writers have provided
Gear Recommendations
for all specs and jjanchan has detailed all of the legendaries by spec, their equips, and how to acquire them in
A Guide to Legion Legendaries
.
Leveling
Starter Legion Questline
When first questing in Legion, if you have not completed the Broken Shore scenario
or
Demon Hunter Starting zone, you must do so first. These can be started at level
98
and there are "hidden" items in each starting zone you'll want to pick up for fun, as you can't go back later! These items are covered in our
starter quest guide
.
The next step will be to witness Dalaran transporting to the Broken Isles, and then complete your Artifact Acquisition questline. We have
video playthroughs and written descriptions
of all 36 questlines.
Once you've acquired your artifact, you can choose between four zones to quest in! There is no set starting zone; the enemy mobs and item rewards will scale to your current level. Our zone overviews cover the unique items from each zone and leveling paths by
TemerityMyst
:
Val'sharah
, a zone steeped in Druidic lore, is battling the corruption of the Emerald Nightmare. Quests award
Dreamweavers
reputation.
Highmountain
, home to the Highmountain Tauren, is a mountainous land with waterfalls and rivers reminiscent of Yosemite. Quests award
Highmountain
reputation.
Azsuna
, home to the former Highborne, is a land rich in magical leylines and magic so condensed that it has formed crystals. Quests award
Court of Farondis
reputation.
Stormheim
, home of Stormdrakes and the Vrykul, examines the tensions between the Alliance and the Horde admist the backdrop of rugged highlands and epic statues. Navigating around the steep cliffs will require the special Grappling Hook from questing. Quests award
Valarjar
reputation.
At level 110, you can quest through Suramar, a tragic zone dramatically split between the Nightfallen and Nightborne. User varenne has provided comments and videos to every quest, detailed in
Good Suramaritan
, and Voxxel has written the
Comprehensive Suramar Guide
covering the currency, questlines, rewards, and more.
Dungeons
Legion Dungeon Overview
10 Dungeons are available at Legion's Launch! Dungeons play a much bigger role in Legion than in Warlords; you'll want to keep doing them after a few weeks.
Dungeon loot has a chance to be Warforged up to ilvl 850 (at launch), giving players with good gear an incentive to run their friends through easier difficulties.
Most professions and class campaigns require you to enter several dungeons for quests;
Halls of Valor
is the most popular dungeon.
Each dungeon has 2-3 profession-related drops and bosses also drop
Blood of Sargeras
.
Achievements completed on Mythic difficulty award
Glory of the Legion Hero
and
Reins of the Leyfeather Hippogryph
.
Court of Stars
and
The Arcway
require Nightfallen rep, and are Mythic-only. As an incentive to run these dungeons which require extra effort, loot includes special two-piece sets with equip bonuses.
Our guides outline strategies and important role-based responsibilities for all of the dungeon bosses, as well as some tips on particularly threatening trash mobs. They also highlight loot, any profession-related dungeon quests, and World Quests that send you into the dungeon to kill a special rare.

World Quests
World Quests Overview
|
Today in Legion
World Quests spawn across the Broken Isles for max-level players, providing a variety of objectives and rewards ranging from gear to Artifact Power to gold. There are even quests for more niche content like professions, battle pets, and PvP. Since they spawn at random around the world, on different spawn timers, they should feel less repetitive than daily quests.
As an incentive to do particular quests for a faction, there are different
Emissaries
up each day, who grant a special bonus cache for completing 4 quests for a faction. These can even contain legendaries or
Reins of the Llothien Prowler
.
Our
World Quest Overview
covers all the rewards and types of World Quests, and
Today in Legion
will automatically keep track of which dailies are up for each region and their rewards. You can even see the quest locations on maps and filter to only see certain types of World Quests.
Professions
Legion Profession Overview
Professions in Legion emphasize the fantasy of a crafter, traveling around the world to discover new recipes. Each Legion profession has an elaborate questline sending the player to a number of outdoor zones and dungeons to learn core recipes. You can start Legion crafting at skill level 1.
Legion Alchemy
Legion Inscription
Legion Archaeology
Legion Jewelcrafting
Legion Blacksmithing
Legion Leatherworking
Legion Cooking
Legion Mining
Legion Enchanting
Legion Skinning
Legion Engineering
Legion Tailoring
Legion Herbalism
Legion Recipes have ranks, allowing you to use less materials to craft the same item as you progress. All of these ranks are from different places, ranging from vendors to bosses, so collecting is a fun mini-game. In addition, professions have more longevity through the
Blood of Sargeras
/
Obliterum
system. You can destroy any crafted item to get some
Obliterum
(or smaller pieces of Ash). Use 2
Blood of Sargeras
to fuse
Obliterum
onto a piece of gear; this will increase the ilvl of your crafted armor by +5, up to ilvl 850. Learn more in the
Acquiring and Spending Blood of Sargeras and Obliterum Guide

Fishing is quite distinctive in Legion, with a special

Reputation
Legion Reputation Overview
Reputation is less grindy than Warlords of Draenor; much of your reputation will be earned by completing the story quests for each zone while leveling and then completing max-level World Quests.
Friendly with all factions save Wardens is required for
Uniting the Isles
which unlocks World Quests; Revered with all six factions is required for
Broken Isles Diplomat
which is needed for
Broken Isles Pathfinder, Part One
.
All factions have some gear, toys, pets, and recipes to purchase. A few factions have additional flair: Nightfallen reputation is required for
Arcway
and
Court of Stars
dungeon attunement, Dreamweavers has two tabards that require reputation, and Highmountain sells fun totem accessories. Reputations are also required for a few hidden artifact appearance items:
Rod of the Ascended
,
Syriel Crescentfall's Notes: Ravenguard
,
Seed of Solar Fire
.
All factions have a
shoulder enchant
which gives mobs a chance to drop a certain profession reagent; great synergy with professions.

Honor Talents
PvP Overview
|
Honor Talent Calculator
The PvP season does not start until September 20th, but you can start acquiring Honor talents when Legion launches:
The term "Honor" has a new meaning in Legion. It now refers to a type of PvP experience that unlocks PvP talents. Earning 50 honor levels grants you a "Prestige" level. You can repeat earning honor levels 1-50, earning a new level of Prestige every time. Most PvP activities grant honor.
There are three choices in every Honor Talent row, but not all choices are accessible at first. As you gain honor levels, you unlock the first column top to bottom, and so on. Some talents are shared by all specs of a certain role, some are unique to a class, and some are unique to a spec.
Prestige Levels: When you reach Honor Level 50, you have fully unlocked all available PvP talents. You can turn that Honor in to gain a Prestige Level for a vanity reward, which in turn locks all your Honor Talents again, or simply stay at Honor Level 50 to enjoy full access to talents.
There are only four levels of Prestige available as part of Legion Season 1. Rewards include an Artifact appearance, pets like
Alliance Enthusiast
, and mounts like
