Unholy Death Knight Cheat Sheet Unholy Death Knight Changes in Midnight

Army of the Dead - Now lasts 30 seconds, but no longer allows summoning more ghouls during Army's duration. Instead, all of your active ghouls will trigger Death Order or Epidemic Order, dealing damage.

Commander of the Dead - No longer extends Lesser Ghoul duration with Mastery.

Soul Reaper - Now consumes up to 3 Lesser Ghoul buff stacks, rather than consuming (and triggering) up to 2 Putrefy charges.

Lord of the Dead - Renamed to Lord of the Dead, and now causes a Lich to be summoned if you have 3 or more active Magus of the Dead. All prior functionality remains the same.

Keep Abilities on Cooldown: Unholy is a very burst-focused specialization, which relies incredibly heavily on using its cooldowns as often as possible to maximize its damage. This makes cooldown setup and execution its highest priority.

Spend your Sudden Doom procs ASAP: Sudden Doom has many interactions with Unholy talents, while also being the strongest non-cooldown button we can press in any scenario. This makes spending this proc as quickly as possible one of the best things you can do.

Keep an eye on your Ghouls: Lesser Ghouls are the bread and butter of Unholy Death Knights in Midnight. So, making sure that you always have stacks of Lesser Ghoul to allow Scourge Strike to summon them is vital.

Horde: Troll provides the most gain, primarily due to Berserking synergising well with our cooldowns, being a 3-minute on use stat buff.

Alliance: Human provides the most amount of raw DPS due to the increased secondary stats provided by The Human Spirit.

Here's a mouseover macro that I find useful (since I apparently can't post it directly on the macro section), it casts Outbreak on mouseover target if you have one, or your current target if not,and if you hold shift the same actions happen except for CoI (this is useful for PvP as well).

Comparatively, Rider of the Apocalypse does very well in its 90-second burst windows and doesn't require anywhere near as much setup and execution, leading to an easier time learning and playing the specialization.

mfw all 50 top Unholy DK's use Rider and Rider only ... And if you look further, every single DK after a certain resi level use exclusively Rider, meaning there are hundreds, if not thousands of DK's that only use Rider in keys, without a single Sanlayn between them ...

I've been making the tour of some of the specs I've been playing to see what wowhead has to say about them and damn the quality of these guides are out of this world and racing towards the bottom with every patch ...
