Ultimate Quest Reputation Leveling Guide (Alliance 1-60)

By Lido Updated: 2026/09/02

This Is A User-Submitted Guide!

Wowhead only updates official guides, so information might not be up-to-date.

DISCLAIMER

This guide is optimized for World of Warcraft Vanilla Servers, starting at Patch 1.2 and progressing all the way through Patch 1.12 over time.

You will also be able to apply this guide to World of Warcraft Classic (Era & Anniversary), although it does not include quests that were added at a later stage (e.g. Hinterlands, Searing Gorge, Feralas, Tanaris).

This guide’s goal is to receive maximum reputation gains for the following factions:
Stormwind
Ironforge
Gnomeregan Exiles
Darnassus

Any reputation loss from quests regarding other factions is considered irrelevant for this guide.

Since the Alliance has a lot more quests available than the Horde, it is inevitable that you will outlevel some of them at a certain stage.

This guide will help you to get a considerable step closer to one of the sought after armorless mounts which are only obtainable for a short amount of time (this option is not available for World of Warcraft Classic Players).

The guide is written from a Human Rogue’s perspective, including class quests and assuming you are choosing Mining / Engineering as your main professions. If you've chosen any other, please do your own research on implementing alternative class/profession quests.

I'll also provide a detailed guide to Night Elf players, as it's a bit trickier to get around from Teldrassil. If you roll Gnome or Dwarf, you will need to readjust the order of the starting zones to your liking.

Quests must be completed within 5 levels above the quest level in order to yield full reputation (e.g. A level 8 quest needs to be completed at level 13 at the latest).

Carefully managing your experience bar is crucial if you want to achieve full reputation / experience gains from quests.

I strongly recommend avoiding rested experience gain. If you log out in taverns or inns often, you will most certainly outlevel a lot of quests.

Ideally, run every dungeon just once in order to minimize experience gain from instance spamming.

This guide does not describe how to successfully complete a quest. It is generally assumed that you know where to go or what's to do. If not, please refer to the hyperlinks for further help.

The word “complete” refers to successfully fulfilling all objectives of a quest, whereas the terms “finish”, “hand in” and “turn in” describe the act of delivering a quest.

Most importantly: This is not a speed run but a 100% completionist guide.

The point is to get the most reputation out of every single quest, so you don’t have to spend an insane amount of Runecloth on your favourite faction later on.

Be aware that there will be a lot of travel time (Flight Masters missing during earlier patches) and competition for quest items / mobs involved, especially if you are rolling on a fresh server.
