Buildings for Professions and Crafting

Without a profession, you can craft some items with a Garrison building. This guide breaks down what items are included/excluded.

With a profession, you can craft the most powerful items. You can buy the recipes at your Garrison building or in Ashran.

It is useful to have a Garrison building for your profession because you can generate more materials for crafting gear with Work orders, which lets you craft things faster and hit 700 sooner.

Crafting Items Without Professions

Level 1 profession buildings are automatically learned when you upgrade your Garrison to level 2. They take 0 Ressources de fief and to construct.

Level 2 profession buildings require a blueprint that costs . It is unlocked when you are 96 or have completed Talador. They take 0 Ressources de fief and to construct.

Level 3 profession buildings require a blueprint that costs . You unlock the blueprint at level 100 by completing Encore du travail !. They take 0 Ressources de fief and to construct.

Items that Require a Profession

The following items require you to have a profession to craft.

You obtain the following recipes via a daily cooldown that generates a token. These tokens can be turned into profession vendors at your garrison building or Ashran faction hub for recipes.

Benefits to Having a Building for Profession

Having a building for your profession generates more crafting materials needed for high-end recipes with large skillups.

With just a low-skill profession, you can get ~4 materials each day from a daily cooldown spell.

With Work Orders, you can generate additional crafting materials every 4 hours. You have a 50% chance to double your Work Orders with an assigned level 90 follower, and this chance increases to 100% with a level 100 follower.

More reagents means you can hit 700 faster. When you max out, several perks are available:

Your daily cooldown spell gives you more materials, and the cooldown has a recharge mechanism. It comes with 3 charges, each of which takes 24 hours to recharge, so you can skip a few days and not fall behind.
Several items have high-level profession requirements to use. Bling-o-tron 5000 and engineering goggles are 600, Tapis rampant and Harnais de monte are 700.

Buildings for Materials

These buildings can assist players with professions in getting the materials they need for crafting.

As stated above, many buildings have Work Orders that can generate additional materials.

These buildings do not let you craft anything, but have reagents:

Barn

The Barn helps with fur for Tailoring, skins for Leatherworking, and Sang sauvage for top-tier crafting recipes.
Different materials are acquired by trapping different Draenor beasts for Work Orders:
Piège de Fer: Clefthoof, Elekk - Leather, Talbuk, Wolf - Fur
Piège de Fer amélioré: Clefthoof, Elekk - Leather, Talbuk, Wolf - Fur, Riverbeast, Boar - Meat
Piège de Fer mortel: Clefthoof, Elekk - Leather, Talbuk, Wolf - Fur, Riverbeast, Boar - Meat. Also works on elites for Sang sauvage.

Grange Niveau 1 takes 0 Ressources de fief and . Upgrading to Level 3 takes 0 Ressources de fief and for Level 2 and 0 Ressources de fief and for Level 3.

Comptoir Niveau 1

The Comptoir Niveau 1 lets you trade inRessources de fief for 5 herbs, Fourrure somptueuse, fish, meat, ore, Poussière draenique, or Peau de bête brute.
You can unlock the trader at level 1 by completing Ficelles du métier, a quick quest where you wake up a trader with coffee! Traders offer better deals at different times, so check back later if you don’t like their prices.
Building Comptoir Niveau 1 takes 0 Ressources de fief and .

Mine

The Mine helps players collect ore. Additional Ore can be gotten at Level 2 if a follower assigned to the Mine.
The quest to unlock Excavation de Chutelune / Mine de Mur-de-Givre Niveau 1 is available at 92: De fieffés empêcheurs de tourner en rond/De fieffés empêcheurs de tourner en rond.

Herb Garden

The Herb Garden lets players pick Draenor herbs daily.
The quest to unlock Jardin de simples Niveau 1 is available at 96 and you must have a level 2 or 3 Garrison to place the building: Nettoyage du jardin / Nettoyage du jardin

This was a handy explanation. What is the opinion on what building to have with what professions? For example, I have alchemy and herbalism as professions. Would I want the Alchemy building by default then? What would I use with it?

Talk about over complicated. Why have professions at all if this system is in place. Its overly redundant and messy. Most of this isnt even explained in game.

All professions except Archaeology, Cooking and First Aid have a garrison building aimed at that profession. We even have a couple of new 'professions' in logging and salvaging that have their own buildings. We need more for the secondary professions.

Museum for Archaeology. Canteen/pub for Cooking (replacing the Herb Garden with a Farm). Hospital for First Aid.

Suitable followers for each one (e.g. Harrison Jones for a Museum). Work orders for each building.

Improve your work orders in Forge (for use by blacksmiths)

--> Blacksmithing Can reduce your durability damage and increase work order output when assigned to the Forge.
A follower with this trait can be assigned to work in the level 2 or higher Forge.

When working in the building, the building's work order yield is increased (affected by the follower level) and you are allowed the use of two special buffs which are gained by talking to the working follower:

Chant de l’enclume- No weapon or armor durability loss from use for four hours
Réconfort de la forge - A chance to summon Guardian of the Forge to help you in combat while Draenor outdoor zones for four hours

(Rulkan = only follower with Blacksmithing)

Before you can take Rulkan's quest to get her as a follower, you must go through the quest chain starting with Au cœur du Crépuscule, and eventually get Sur la piste des ombres which sends you up to Exile's Rise to meet Rulkan.
She will then give you the quest, Le souvenir ancestral, which just has you hop down the cliff, go into the cave, and click the totem in back. She'll join you in the cave and show you a vision.
At the end, turn in the quest, and when you take the quest Rulkan, you get her as a follower.

(Na'Shra = only follower with Blacksmithing):

In Frostfire Ridge, Initiate Na'Shra (65,0; 39,5) in Gate of the Breakers offers L’art de la fonte for you and after completing it, Weaponsmith Na'Shral joins your garrison.

Is it just me or does the current profs seem a bit 'lacking'. I mean as an engineer / enchanter / scribe and tailor. It seems lacking to me in the skills department. Maybe I'm just not sure to not being able to enchant my bracers / chest / shoulders / pants and boots past ilvl 600 and unlock the new lockboxes with powderkegs.

The tradeskill buildings will work their orders even when they aren't active. Take advantage of this by building a storehouse (for the 15 extra work orders) and keep only one small tradeskill building active at a time (Salvage Yard should be your third small building).

Each day when you gather resources from the tradeskill building, refill it and then replace it with the next tradeskill building in your cycle and level the building to 2 (for the follower bonus). If you do this each day you will collect a full load of 29 orders instead of just 6 per day. It will cost 450 gold to swap these buildings, but that expense is easily mitigated with income from missions and the salvage yard, and you should be able to produce at least 2 iLevel 645 BOE epics per week. Sell the epics you don't use in the AH (They should still sell for good cash well into the next raid tier).

This method optimizes the use of the resources you gather each day and allows you to always have a bank and salvage yard active while still gathering orders from all the tradeskill buildings. Instead of selling your mats in a flooded market you'll be processing them into BoE epics that have a higher profit margin.
