Is Molten Core dead
Return to board index

I have tried to get a raid going for
Molten Core
to no avail. I have been trying since i was 60 and the farthest i got was 25 random people (including a few guildies) but that soon fell apart while me and my guildmates sat there twiddleing our thumbs so we gave up.
im on frostwolf and wondering if there are any guilds that run mc and if so can i wisper you in the game and get to know you and your guildies, to eventually help out in healing for you in the raid
If there arent, the question comes up. Why doesnt anyone run MC anymore at 60 and when did it die?

Technicly, MC ( and all 60 raids ) died when BC appeared because 95% of the level 60 epics are less powerful than a level 70 blue but a lot of guilds are still running old raids for fun or some items ( mounts, the energy trinket, etc... )

Lots of 70s does it for fun, as far as I know. It's more about going for fun, instead of loot these days. - Unless it's for Thunderfury, ofcourse.

There's your first problem. You don't need that many people. Just get 5 people including a warlock and start clearing from the front and add/summon people as they join. It's really very easy now.

Every old-world raid died the day TBC was released. Running level 60 raids for loot that isn't as good as the drops/quest rewards in Hellfire Peninsula just doesn't make sense when one can be soloed and the other requires 40 people. Dungeons are not immune either; it's easier to get 5 people together for an instance, but most players would rather be questing towards the level cap than spending an hour or more running a 5-man for loot they
might
get, that will be obsolete in a few levels anyway.
The only old-world raids I've been to (since starting in 12/07) were one pick-up in AQ, and a partial Zul'Gurub run to get

for a friend who really wanted it.

I started playing after TBC was released, and its totally true that MC loots, as well as all other raids, are obsolete, with the exception of ZulGurub, ive seen many many many runs in it (Im at Zandalar Honored right now, even if mobs only give 1-5 rep), and it still contains powerful things, namely, ZG enchants... Mages get a pretty good enchant that is good when you start raiding (18dmg / 8hit) until you are Shatar honored for Head, and Scryers exalted for pants. But i heard it still contains, to this day, the best Warrior tanking enchant, but im just a mage so i dont know if that's acutally true, but still.... oldworld raids are still being run these days.... as for MC, a week ago i went into a run, we were 30ish level 70 and ran most of it, until too many people had to go for various reasons. I heard of a BWL run and a Paladin-Only Naxxramas run happened which i didnt attend

One would be hard pressed to argue that 10 stamina, 10 defense, and 15 shield block value is the best tanking enchant. It was a stretch in TBC, but the WotLK helm enchant is definitely superior.
As for running MC, I've seen quite a few groups get together to run through them for the achievements. Beyond that, and "seeing content," there's not much reason to run them.
Know what really bugs me though. People getting together to run something like BWL, MC, or AQ40, and people who are level 60 who want to come along, and then snap up every little piece of loot they can find. I don't care if you can "use it" or it's "an upgrade." Level your damn character. I'd rather vendor that loot and make some gold. You aren't contributing to the group at all, basically getting carried through, and all you want to do is suck up every loot drop you can. It's annoying.
