You only see 180% written in your Spellbook because the default Blizzard UI applies the multiplier from your Opportunity Talent (https://www.wowhead.com/forever/spell=14075)

The 150% is just right.

Oh, and btw: This is the new Backstab. Rogues were previously only getting through the AQ20 book drop. With Patch 2.01 out now it's trainable at lvl 60.

Backstab is the best skill for burst damage (besides ambush) for rogues who are not assassination specced. Grab improved backstab for +30% crit, Lethality for +30% crit damage, and opportunity for +20% damage and you'll be quite the death dealer with this skill. Assassination rogues with Seal Fate love this skill because of its insane crit chance. (Seal Fate is a talent that gives you an extra combo point when a skill that gives combo points crits)

I still think this should be in the Assasination tree, but meh, that's just me, maybe even subtlety. But here is a good combat backstab build that maximizes your BS and Evis abilities as well as maximize your total DPS.

Backstab is pretty nice if you can get the hit on someone it does crazy damage but ins takes 60 energy and you want to try to get as many points so dont use it every time. although it still is a very nice rogue spell.

This is a sweet ability, best used in combination with garrot, or when the enemy is attacking an alley allowing you to go behind it and stab in the back.

I dont know if many people realize this, but backstab works on enemies that try to flee quite well. When they flee, they have very little health left, making backstab easy to take that last chunk off.

yes, backstab is great against fleeing enemies, but... =P I prefer letting them run a bit and finishing them with a quick throwing knife to the back... yay for finese!

Why when i use backstab it works not also from front, from all directions! So, i can use only backstab hit and the finishing move. When i was little level with 1-2 damage weapon i makes 16 damage with backstab.
Is it some server settings or bug?

The thing i don't like about this, is u must have a dagger in your main hand. That to me takes away options.

THIS ABILITY IS AMAZING. with gouge i can finish the enemy off without them ever getting a hit on me. also amazing in instances. if u have a good tank that can keep aggro u can just backstab, backstab..... use feint once in a while too.

Backstab should be considered a priority for dagger-main hand rogues. This ability is well worth the 60 energy required.

Talent-wise, a good way to make the most of this ability is through 5 specific talents.

First, Malice (+1-5% Critical Strike Chance, first tier Assasination Tree) will raise your critical strike chance with ANY attack, including Backstab. This will be the earliest way to increase your critical strike chance with talents.

Second, Improved Backstab (+10-30% Critical Strike Chance with Backstab, second tier Combat Tree) will raise your critical strike chance with regards to Backstab. If you are a dagger main-hand rogue, this is a must-have.

Third, Oppurtunity (+5-20% damage dealt from behind with Backstab, Ambush, or Garrote, first tier Subtlety tree) can add extra damage to your Backstab ability. Once again, if you use daggers in your main-hand often this is well worth the investment.

Fourth, Remoresless (After killing an opponent that yields honor or XP this gives you a 20-40% critical strike chance on your next Sinister Strike, Ambush, Backstab, or Ghostly Strike, first tier Assasination tree) is an invaluable PvE talent and can also work well in PvP. This essentially means that after killing an opponent your next attack will have a good chance of scoring a critical hit. If you have invested in Malice and Improved Backstab, then an opening move of Cheap Shot+ Backstab can be almost guaranteed to land a critical strike. In my opinion, this is one of the most useful grinding/questing talents a rogue can invest in. (Note: Even at 60 this will still work with monsters that level appears in green or higher)

Fifth, Lethality (+10-30% critical strike damage dealth with Gouge, Sinister Strike, Backstab, Ghostly Strike, and Hemorrhage, third tier Assasination tree requiring 5/5 of Malice) will add even more extra damage to your critical strikes. If you use Backstab often, this is definately a good talent to put points into.

The above explantion is just an easy way to explain how to best utilize Backstab for those rogues that wish to use this ability to its full potential.

Alright I know... that Backstab has a pretty high crit rate as is.. every 8-12 backstabs for me = a crit w/out talents put into it yet. I just would like to know how to find the base crit rate on Backstab. Or if someone knows it by heart, they could help me with it by posting it here.
