Can a DoT with a lump sum over time like this even get a critical strike? 908 x 1.10 for Emberstone = 999 / 8 sec. = 125 dps, but I don't think that it can crit. If it can then it would hit for 250 - 300 with the 100% crit increase for Ruin. Plus the 26% chance to stun would make this thing insane. If anyone has actually seen this thing crit, could you please explain how it works?

Incorect. Im pretty sure that hellfire does 208 fire damge every 1 second. Since its not a set amount of damage over time (eg: Rain of fire - 904 damage over 8 seconds) each blast wave gets + the full amount of spell damage from your items. As for Rain of Fire, its excellent for killing those annoying microscopic enemys that come in swarms. The only thing is it can pull alot of aggro, so I wouldn't use it on a lvl 60 elite mob unless my party was on the verge of wiping and I need to stun them - so my party could heal up.

with the destruction talent that makes rain of fire and hell fire stun does hellfire have double chance to stun becase it ticks every second instead of rain ticking every two seconds?

So, does Rain of Fire have a chance to stun them every 1 second ((tick))? Or is it like, the first tick has the chance, but if it doesn't stun them, then the rest of the 7 seconds wont either, and will just do the damage?

Immense damage. What else can I say?

u cant say even that ^˘

a destruction specced lock has way better AoE than mage (rain of fire vs. blizzard)

=O

The best time to do rain of fire alone is when 2 ormoremobs are on you and let vw tank them it works out perfectly.

One really fun use of this spell is in Warsong Gulch-when you have a lot of Horde clustered together in the tunnel leading to the Flag Room, you can rain comets down on all and they can't really get away very easily!

Im not really sure if rain of fire or hellfire combine with aftermath. If anyone has expeirenced it then make a comment telling that it does combine.

Even though im a warlock i still think blizzard is better. First reason is that it does a few hundred more damage. Secondly, rain of fire damages every 2 seconds, 26% to stun for 3 seconds, 70% no interuption, 10% od dazing for 5 seconds. The problem is that when i do it i never really do the whole rain of fire cuz whe 2 mobs are on you you get interupted at least once, but with blizzard you can do the whole thing. Blizzaed damages every second and their speed is reduced the whole time while they are in it. 15% of freezing them plus permafrosy which increases the time of the target being frozen. Mages can simply do frost nova then started doing blizzaed and a 100% they can do the whole thing. For rain of fire theres a chance.
Damn that is not fair!

If any you guys thnk that channeling moves crit well it cant because that would be real crazy and too good. The channeling move that can crit is arcane missles.
