So there's The Ancient Tome Of Teleport: Dalaran in Retail? Guessing its going to be an item to teach mages how to Port to Hillsbrad when they hit a certain level they probably will need it. Just a guess

Has anyone checked in Dalaran to see if there is something to interact with?

Black Tome / Tome of Dalaran - SOLVED: it summons the rare elite Lyn, el Ignorado

Update - theory confirmed
The Tome of Dalaran is used on the rune circle from the BlizzCon showcase, inside City of Dalaran. Credit to lemmetrix, jscogs109 and Shinzon in the comments. I have not done the summon myself yet, so the details are their report.
- Use Tomo de Dalaran on the ritual circle in the sewers, in the small circular room with planks over the water. It summons Lyn, el Ignorado, a rare elite (lemmetrix).
- Confirmed working in a group (jscogs109).
- After you use it on the circle, the book goes on a 3 minute cooldown, and the boss slowly walks in from the sewer behind you (Shinzon).
- Don't confuse it with the other circle in the sewers, where is found (lemmetrix, on the Lyn the Ignored page).

Full chain

1. Black Tome: on a table behind Archmage Arugal, at the very end of Shadowfang Keep. I picked it up as Alliance, so it is not faction-locked on pickup.

2. Ambermill Leyline Focus: the floating blue crystal on the table at the front of the Ambermill town hall, Silverpine Forest 63.4, 64.3 (same building as the Dalaran Digest library book). Stand next to it and use the Black Tome (3 sec cast). You get Tomo de Dalaran: soulbound, unique. On the level 20 beta build the tooltip showed no Use effect and no "This item begins a quest" text.

3. Enter City of Dalaran, go to the ritual circle room in the sewers and use the tome on the circle to summon Lyn, el Ignorado. The circle only exists inside the instance. The open-world version of that room has no markings on the floor.

========================OLD POST - IGNORE========================

Confirmed

1. The Black Tome is on a table behind Archmage Arugal, at the very end of Shadowfang Keep. I picked it up as Alliance, so it is not faction-locked on pickup.

2. The Ambermill Leyline Focus is the floating blue crystal on the table at the front of the Ambermill town hall, Silverpine Forest 63.4, 64.3 (same building as the Dalaran Digest library book). Stand next to it and use the Black Tome (3 sec cast). You get the Tome of Dalaran: soulbound, unique, no Use effect, no "This item begins a quest" text.

3. At level 20 I could not find anything that reacts to the Tome of Dalaran. I tried Garion Wendell (Stormwind library), Archmage Malin (Stormwind Mage Quarter) and the NPCs I could reach in Dalaran city (I'm Skyborne, so I can enter it). I also walked the city looking for an object to interact with and found nothing, but I can't rule out a hidden object I simply missed.

4. City of Dalaran (the dungeon) - I found two portals:
- The main one is the sewer tunnel that opens onto Lordamere Lake (Silverpine 69.2, 45.6). From the lake side it is closed by a gate with the tooltip "Sewer Grate - Requires Dalaran Sewer Key". From inside the city you walk down the same tunnel (Sewer, 9.6, 60.5) and reach the instance portal directly. Trying to enter gives "This Dungeon is currently not available", so the dungeon is disabled in the current beta build.
- The second one is underwater in the Underbelly, in the room where the BlizzCon showcase showed a big rune circle on the floor (The Underbelly, 21.7, 68.3). From the city side there is a grate in front of this portal, and mousing over the grate shows nothing at all - no tooltip, no cursor change, it behaves like a wall. This portal was not used during the BlizzCon showcase, but the streamers saw it from inside the instance. Where it leads is unknown.

5. The rune circle itself only exists inside the instance. In the open-world version of that same room (the one I can walk into from the city) there are no markings on the floor. So whatever the circle does, it has to be done from inside the dungeon.

6. BlizzCon 2026 Creator Showcase (City of Dalaran run with Tyler1, Xaryu, Guzu, Annie Fuchsia and bbno$):
- here the devs say there is secret stuff in the sewers and something hidden in a nearby dungeon with undead in a big castle - that's Shadowfang Keep, where the Black Tome is.
- here they say there is something special about that room, and that most people only look at the instance portal in the water.
- here Guzu stands on the rune circle ("there's like this little ritual, not sure what it does, I don't think we can activate anything in here") and right after the host confirms it is a secret they did not figure out.

Theories (nothing below is confirmed)
- As far as I can tell, none of the showcase players had the Black Tome or the Tome of Dalaran. If that's right, it would explain why the ritual could not be activated.
- The Tome of Dalaran is used inside City of Dalaran (28-33), most likely in the rune circle room.
- The underwater portal is a second entrance that skips part of the dungeon, and the Dalaran Sewer Key is found inside.
- The beta cap goes up to 30 and the showcase group was level 29, so this might become testable before launch.

If you get inside with the tome
Stand on the rune circle (before and after clearing the room), mouse over the circle and the walls (the dungeon has clickable wall lamps elsewhere), talk to every friendly NPC (there is an archmage that "grants access" and four NPCs that drop the barrier around the last boss), and keep an eye out for the Dalaran Sewer Key. Please post results here so this can be closed.

Even so it has not tooltip for it, you can actually interact with the book.

As an undead paladin level 20, trying to use it trigger a "You can't use that item" message (Character saying: "I can't use that").

Since the level cap was raised I brought the book of Dalaran to the sewers and an Image of Archmage Modera appeared. I'm level 24 and she didn't offer me a quest, and she didnt even have agray quest marker for later, so I dont think the quest is in the game yet but this is CERTAINLY how Horde will get inside. She said that there's a magical outbreak and she'd do anything to save her city, even consorting with the likes of us.

Comentario de lemmetrix

This summons a rare called Lyn, el Ignorado when used in the ritual circle in the sewers. The small ritual circle in the small circular room with planks over the water.

Comentario de Walaka

Coming back the morning after this kill as still hyped to have made this discovery.

Take this with you when you go into the Dalaran instance, once inside in the lower level keep clearing until your find a square room down a short passage way.

It will be obvious, there is some trash mobs there and a purple summoning ring.

Right click the Tome of Dalaran there and it will summon the boss: Lyn the Ignored,

Tome then has a 3min cooldown and is not consumed. Used again on a 2nd run.

Comentario de Enquillion

As an Alliance player, I've always categorically avoided SFK in Classic. Far away and no quests unless you're a paladin.

But this item is like the Mallet of Zul'Farrak. An extra boss in CoD, a way to make myself more attractive for a group invite. So now, I think I will be doing SFK. The boat from Menethil Harbor to Southshore helps a great deal with that decision too. Chef's kiss, Blizzard.
