Hmmmm, nothing new under the sun! I was in a guild some years ago that used to hold a "Naked Gnome Run" guild event, running a shreddies-clad lvl 1 gnome from the original Gnome start-up area south of Dun Morogh to Menethil Harbour in Wetlands

It’s unfortunate this is all the descriptor this event has yet received (or that I’ve seen regarding the WoW micro-holiday version).

For those who aren’t aware, "The Running of the Gnomes" has been a player-run event for the last 6 or so years to raise awareness, and donations for breast cancer.

Being an event designed for level 1 characters, this seems like a great way to convince your old WoW friends to dust off their retired accounts and join you on a nostalgic tour of a few of the most memory-filled zones in the game.

Shouldn't be too hard of a sell since anyone can log into their account and play characters level 20 or under for free!

My girlfriend and I are from South Africa, and we've already made our gnomes on Scarlet Crusade. Looking forward to partaking in the event (been wanting to do it for ages)! Even though it's at 1AM for us, we'll be there!
Hopefully Blizz will take part in donating to the cause, if not this year maybe in future runs. It may even be worth discussing an EU version of the event. But that's all future-talk.

So I just ran this, a few details:

You pickup the quest at 36.44, 36.44 from Mina Gleespanner. After you accept, black and white checkered gates appear and will show up on the Mini-map. There are 34 gates plus the final gate in Booty Bay. You can run, ride, or fly through the gates. They go up through Iron Forge, onto the Deeprun tram, through Stormwind, down to Goldshire then head towards the Tower of Azora, then down to Darkshire, then follow the path to the intersection near Yorgen Farmstead and go down. From there you just follow the path down to booty bay. As you run there are crowds of gnomes that will cheer you on and there are occasionally road blockades to guide you (you can run through the blockades if you want but you will be going the wrong way). There are also blue signs with the gnome crest along the path that will also help guide you. The finishing gate is at 40,20, 72,98 in Booty Bay which is the same place as where the Pirates Day celebration is. There you can turn in the quest to Gelbin Mekkatorque which gives 38 Gold 80 Silver for level 110. It also gave a temporary buff for a few seconds that I think was just while you cheered. Didn't have enough time to inspect it.

Currently bugged on TW/Asia servers as there is no check points in the Stormwind City. After you completed the run from Gnomeregan to Booty Bay, you would only have 32/34 check points. Reported and awaiting reply.

There are some famous gnomes cheering our brave runners on along the way!
Noticed Addle fizzlebog, Gnome hunter champion with her trusty battle-chicken in Stormwind, and Wilfred Fizzlebang is quite literally with us in spirit in Darkshire.

Linken was cheering on us near the entrance of Northern Strangethorn, and Millhouse Manastorm was chilling on the upper floors of the Booty Bay inn. For completion, Gelbin Mekkatorque himself are also the one you turn in the quest with!

Might have missed someone, so keep your eyes out and have a nice run!

Great event / holiday !

brings back the Wow community spirit ;)

edit1: Got a gnome created on us trial account , run starts in 75 minutes, gonna see which is to crash first, my pc or blizz server ;)

edit2: Well was great run, almost crashed server when we invaded SW we had some phasing "problems" (walked trough SW all alone, but after a short wait at SW gate and spreading out the group it went well.
Ended with heart on roof at finish line and went to OG to deathrun and take over part of the city ;)

Realy great event, can't wait for next year ;)

Must be so easy to just cruise through on a mount! Less being dead haha. Proud to say I ran my level ten (hit 11 about halfway through Stranglethorn) shaman all the way, with a bit of help from a friendly 65 hunter <3

This is a fun WoW event and I think it is great that WoW has tried to remain neutral on the political end of things....it is in keeping with WoW tradition and more respectful of the diverse player base. I did the run on my gnome mage and it was really quite fun :)

One of the few real occasions of altruism in WoW when "hostilities could be suspended" to allow the Horde to participate, but nooooooo, the Alliance has to be the Alliance.....

Its completly bugged in 2017. Lot of checkpoint is missing (IF and SW) and i found only 18 of them. There is no more checkpoints when you enter Duskwood.

I present you Weekly event The Great Gnomeregan Run with you can find in BFA to.

To start it you need to fly to New Tinkertown in Dun Morogh and speak with Mina Gleespanner 36 36 She will give you quest The Great Gnomeregan Run after that you can start race. You finish Quest to Gelbin Mekkatorque in Booty Bay 40 73. You have 3 thing to do:

- Cross the Starting Line;
- 34 Gates Cleared;
- Cross the Finish Line.

At first use fly mount to do it quicker. Start in order:

If you have Bwemba's Spirit or Bwemba's Spirit active, and you will know you do as that annoying spirit of Bwemba will be following you around, then you will NOT see the run markers or the gates in Northern Stranglethorn. You must drop the quest in order to proceed.

You will know you are in trouble when you leave Duskwood and follow the path right. You will reach a fork. Left and down into Northern Stranglethorn or straight and up into the rebel camp. A gate should be visible.

This is not a bug specific to The Great Gonmeregan Run. Many other quests will also be phased out when the Bwemba Spirit is active. It is rather a problem with the phasing of the Bwemba Spirit.

After dropping, pick up the Bwemba quest again via the Board in SW / Org or else seek out Bwemba in the Valley of Spirits or Stormwind Harbor.

If you want to run all the way long, not cheated and use mounts, you needed 35 minutes, maybe more to shot some MOB. No achi, no nothing just one more quest to do. And -35 minutes from your real life. For fun.

And I think It will be more accurate if you need to run all the way not using the deep run tram. You Know, Go To Loch Modan, Searing Gorge, Redridge, and the to Duskwood.

Gelbin Mekkatorque must still be recovering because Prince Erazmin was at the finish line to greet me today. Quite a fun little event. I happened to get to the starting line at the same time as a guild group all with Alliance balloons were setting off so I tagged along with them with my Darkmoon murloc balloon. Next year I'll need to make sure I get there right when it starts.

Small note for those wanting to complete the community event the Running of the Gnomes and not just the quest/microholiday The Great Gnomergan Run

While the mircoholiday does start at 12:00 am server time, (and that is what WoWhead lists here) that is simply the time that the holiday goes live on the servers. That means that it is the Starting zone race banner, the NPCs, the quest givers and etc. That time is solid for all zones worldwide so everyone has a chance to experience the magic of the event we created worldwide.

However: The Running of the Gnomes on Scarlet Crusade leaves the starting zone at 4pm Pacific/7pm Eastern every year on the day of the holiday. You can check that is the case via the Warcraft Cares social media every year.

You are not required to come to the community event that inspired the microholiday/do the Trade Objective, however, it's a rare opportunity to connect with 1,000s of other players to engage in a charity event and do something silly at the same time. How you choose to engage with the microholiday, or not, is entirely up to you!

If you can't get the quest, chances are you on the gnome heritage armor questline, which is a different phase. You have to complete it before getting the quest, or if you are lucky you can find someone to share quest with you, but starting goals won't be available.

See you guys at 7pm Eastern 10/11/2025 at the starting line!

I admit I'm cheating and using last year's gnome only because I'm out of character slots! She's not very high leveled from last year though. Just what I got zone-exploring as I ran. Highly recommend this. And make sure you watch for the guilds that are part of the charity. They'll even give you some coinage so you can change your clothing to something festive and fitting. :)
