You can only carry 10 with you, and only 10. Once you hit ten, go turn them in to be able to earn more.
Yes, this means that if you have 9, ONLY ONE MORE WILL DROP. Keep your eyes open when you have 9, as you can't drop an 11th, so you MUST pick up the 10th drop, or let it despawn.
You can turn in as many times as you want (more than 3) per day and get battle points, as long as you haven't hit the weekly battle points cap.
Only the first 3 turn-ins per day will try to reveal a page, which can be a duplicate. It will only try 3 times, even if you get 3 duplicates.

Does anyone know if there is a link between the monsters you kill to the page you get when you hand in the Monstrous Essence at ? Or even which you hand them in at? I seem to be missing just one page from some zones which I can't find out how to get and it prevents me from getting the zone achievement. I guess it could be random like many other things in this game.
