The Greench is a high-level elite. You do not need to have tagged the Greench to get to loot the stolen treats, but you do need to tag him to get credit for freeing Metzen and turn in the quest.

If you get to Hillsbrad Foothills without having picked up the quest, you can find a Seltsamer Schneemann hiding in the trees. He will give you the quest if you need it. You will have to return to either Orgrimmar or Ironforge to turn the quest in.

You can now take a sleigh ride from Ironforge or Orgrimmar straight to Hillsbrad Foothills.

This achievement can be found in the main World Events achievement category and is awarded upon completion of all but one of the Winter Veil achievements. This achievement awards the player title 'Merrymaker' and is a requirement towards completion of Was für eine lange, seltsame Reise..., which rewards Violetter Protodrache.

Merrymaker Achievements

During the Winterhauchfest, wear 3 pieces of winter clothing and eat Graccus hausgemachte Früchtepastete.
This achievement must be done during Winter Veil. You can wear any three pieces of the Winter Garb (a chest, boots and hat).

Hat: Rote Wintermütze or Grüne Wintermütze. These are found on select Northrend heroic, Cataclysm normal and heroic bosses, Siege of Orgrimmar bosses, and Warlords of Draenor dungeon bosses. A full list is above under Festivities, and it's also a very low world drop.

Chest: Rote Winterkleidung or Grüne Winterkleidung. These can be crafted by tailors with 250 skill or found on the AH. Alliance tailors can get both recipes easily with Eebee Klingeltasche in Shattrath selling the Horde Muster: Grüne Winterkleidung, but Horde players will have a harder time getting the Muster: Rote Winterkleidung. This costs 4x Runenstoffballen, Wollstoffballen, Runenfaden, and either 2x Roter Farbstoff or 2x Grüner Farbstoff

Feet: Muster: Winterstiefel is sold by select Smokywood Pastures vendors, and is also mailed to some Leatherworkers by Greatfather Winter. It makes the stylish Winterstiefel and requires Kupferbarren, Wollstoffballen, 4x Unverwüstliches Leder, Runenfaden, as well as 285 Leatherworking to craft.

The Graccus hausgemachte Früchtepastete is contained within a gift package received within 24 hours of completing either Leckereien für Altvater Winter (Alliance version) or So was Gemeines... (Alliance version)! In 2013 this is much easier to obtain--it is sold by all Copperpinch and Jinglepot vendors for and is in the daily Gestohlenes Geschenk.

Bruder Kristoff (55.4, 54.6, Cathedral Square), Bruder Crowley (52.6, 43.6, Cathedral Basement), Bruder Benjamin (51.8, 46.8, Cathedral Ground Floor), Bruder Joshua ( 49.8, 45.6, Cathedral Altar), Bruder Cassius (52.2, 45.6, Cathedral Right Wing)--these NPCs are all in Sturmwind.

There's also Bruder Nimetz (47.2, 11.0, Nördliches Schlingendorntal), Bruder Wilhelm (Goldshire, Wald von Elwynn), and Bruder Karman (Theramore, Düstermarschen). To reach Bruder Karman if Theramore is phased, go to Zidormi and she will take you to old Theramore.

Horde players must use Mistelzweig on the following NPCs:

Bruder Malach (51.6, 22.6, Unterstadt), Durgot Wolfsbruder (40.2, 55.0, Boreanische Tundra), Bruder Keltan (Eiskrone).

Bruder Keltan is the trickiest for low-level players to reach since he's located on the flying Gunship and players can't summon players under 77 onto the ship. You can be summoned to the spiky mountain at the northern-most point of the Gunship's path though, and then jump over with Levitate. You can also try to chain die/rez starting from Storm Peaks, and eventually rez on the ship.

Mistletoe can be obtained randomly from /kiss'ing Winter Revelers.

Ein winziger Winterhut is finally here!

The special gifts are Klingeling and Kranzerang.

Some level requirements have changed with the level squish.

For Shadowlands, two dungeon bosses (Devos and Festlicher Globgrog) and two bosses in Castle Nathria (Graf Denathrius and Festlicher Rat des Blutes) have festive appearances. All of the bosses in Torghast are sporting Winter Hats.

The Gestohlenes Geschenk now requires Level 60. Characters below level 60 receive Entwendetes Geschenk.

Sinfall and the Ember Court in Revendreth are decorated for the occasion.

The Ember Court offers two presents, one an extra action button allowing you to give a gift to a guest, increasing their happiness, and the other, the Winterhauchliederbuch.

Greatfather Winter flies around Ironforge and Orgrimmar in a sled.

Ein winziger Winterhut is a new Pepe costume advertised in the official blog, but currently it only exists on the 8.3 PTR, not 8.2.5 live retail servers. We want Pepe!

Miniaturwinterhauchbaum and Leuchtendes Geschenk are now ilvl 395 for level 120 players.

Schneekugelyeti spawns more frequently.

Last year's special presents should have moved to the Stolen Present. Hearthbox/Hearthbox are now fixed and drop from the present as well.

Blackwater Behemoth is festive for the holidays with seasonal decorations, as well as Jaina and Radiance of Azshara.

The special 2019 toys are Wilder Tannenzweig and Krachbummkampfpott/Krachbummschlachtschiff.

Craggle Wobbletop sells the Red Rider Air Rifle in Stormwind. He wanders around the outside of the Trade District.

Jepetto Joybuzz in Dalaran also sells it; as well as his Clockwork Assistant.

Aditionally, they also sell additional ammo for the Rifle, which i have bought; however, its not listed on Wowhead.

Also, you CAN still obtain the Achievement Crashin' & Thrashin' by purchasing & crashing the Blue Crashin' Thrashin' Racer Controller from the same Toy Vendors listed above.

I advise seeing the comments confirming the Achievement can be obtained that way for additional information, as listed on Wowhead ;)

people who want an easy red or green winter hat. i can suggest doing the WotLK dungeons on heroic.

i did nexus hc myself today and got a quick http://www.wowhead.com/item=21524.
should be noted that doing the wotlk dungeons on normal doesnt award a hat.

cata normal mode dungeons seem too drop them. not sure if its 100% but its rather high (except DM/SFK norm, where normal mode has a rather low droprate)

Notes for 2012 event - the achievement list shows no new requirements this year. Presumably, the hats will only drop (consistently) from MoP and MoP heroic instances.

A couple of notes:

Grand Magus Telestra did not drop the hat on normal difficulty when I ran through solo as a lvl 90. However, she did wear it (and drop it) when I re-ran on heroic.

I can confirm that if you have alts you can use them to get around the random number generator that is the distribution of snowflakes and mistletoe. I got the Bros. Before Ho Ho Ho's ach on one toon, and the Let It Snow ach on another, still got me Merrymaker :)

I'd like to note that the Football and Pigskin from the Stolen Present are NOT the same as the ones that Jepetto Joybuzz carries; they have a different item ID and also count separately towards the toybox. And of course the ones Joybuzz carries don't count towards the FoS.

It seems that if you get a toy from previous years, you WON'T get FoS for that as you needed to obtain it in the appropriate year to get those achievements. Texts of those achievements also indicate that.

As a lot of people just got achievement and deleted received toys, Blizz made it possible to get toys for Toy collection once more. Only fair not to give FoS for obtaining them now.

Helpful for wowhead winter veil guide i can confirm that mythic dungeon bosses also drop a winter veil hat i am off to those 3 bosses to see if they also wear a hat and will submit screenshot
EDIT: the 3 bosses tyrant velhari, beastlord, and flamebendor all have a chance to drop hats.

Under "Toybox Items": I think you might be linking to the wrong item for the source of the various cushions this year. They're found in the Gestohlenes Geschenk, not the Steuerung für Krachbummschredder, as is the Shredder Controller itself (and one of the links is broken).

There is a chance you will see an NPC named "Clark Griswold" in your garrison. This is a clear nod to National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation. He repeats a wow themed Chevy Chase quote.

I will never understand why the previous year "special toys" (Flamer, Shredder, etc.) are now random drops...makes it so much harder to get them since you depend on RNG. And one Winter Veil achievement even requires one of those - Crashin' Trashin' Flamer. On one side you can buy the sweater and Blue Racer to get other achievements but you can't buy the Flamer...don't get it...

They could have made it so you can buy the previous years toys via the Winter Veil currency from your garrison like you can with one of the toys for this year's WV. Pets like Clockwor Bot and Lumpy would still be rare drops from Stolen Gifts as would the Scroll of Storytelling. Plus getting the FoS for those is weird...

I suspect this is a glitch of some sort. I have 3 L1 characters. They get gear-wheels for all the presents they can't get, but they get nothing (and no ! marker) for the present you supposedly need only L1 to get. My hubby's L2 character could get that one.

Not listed above but toons under 98 get a green version of stolen present, Entwendetes Geschenk. No idea what, if anything, good can drop from it. I made sure to raise all my toons to 60 for this, but, again, like Halloween, very frustrating.

Right after 8.1, but before this event started, I noticed that using my garrison Wondervolt, I could no longer mount while transformed into a Little Helper. Certainly not ever the case previous to 8.1 landing. So, happy standing around town (or running everywhere) if you want to play Little Helper. Great quality assurance as per usual there, Blizzard /guffaw

The guide says that the quest "The Reason for the Season" gives you 500 with one faction and 125 with the others. It does not. It only gives the 500 reputation. Just so those of you trying to farm faction reputation know...

With Horde Boss auf der Erbse there is still a problem (see sticky post) since we don't know where to find Saurfang.

Apparently the Gestohlenes Geschenk will not give you duplicates of the major toys. Which is great, unless you picked one of them up in a year that they weren't giving the achievement. I was able to get Rotes Erbsengewehr by buying another Rotes Erbsengewehr. However, I had to contact a GM about MiniZep-Steuerung. When I did, he told me that since I already had MiniZep-Steuerung, it wasn't going to drop a second one for me. Since it was in my toy box already, he went ahead and gave me the matching achievement.

The guide should point out that players can get a ride around Ironforge/Orgrimmar on Greatfather Winter's Sleigh, or even on the reindeer pulling the sleigh through the air.

Just a quick note to Brüderliche Weihnacht/Brüderliche Weihnacht: The level 77 requirement for flying in northrend has been lifted (they removed them somewhere during Legion). You can fly there starting with level 60 if you have the flying mounts skill learned. I'm not sure if you have to have level 77 to be summoned, but this should keep you from the other expensive or complicated ideas (die chain, levitation glide). Also it should be possible to go mounted on a friend with the Phiole der Sande or any other two seater flying mount.

If you still want to do the levitation from the highest mountain, use a Goblingleiterbausatz - it's safer and can be steered.

I hope these hints get weaved into the otherwise pretty well updated guide :)

So, for 2020, no achievement for "Proud owner of the 2020 Vintage Winter Veil gift, Wreath-A-Rang. ? I looked back and saw where we got an achievement, and also I recalling it dinging, when you opened up the vintage gift each year. Or maybe the vintage gift was supposed to be Jingles? Kinda wanted the achievement so I could keep up my gift streak each year.

I feel like this is just a copy and paste every year with less than a handful of new things.. just reskinned..

No one is hardly doing the You're a Mean One quest. I've sat with a mage(offering port backs) for 3 hours and not a single person. Maybe its different on mega high pop servers but this is boring.

The Halloween event is so much better. At least there's an instant broom mount that's seasonal. Which is all I really have to look forward to during any of the events(i have 99% of the achievements for seasonal stuff). This is literally not worth doing on characters that don't have a garrsion/access to merry supplies. You get nothing useful at all.

Just for amusement's sakes I did Heroic Eye of Azshara to get the Xmas hat off King Deepbeard. I could see the item worn on the Boss, but when looting the corpse there was no such item. Is this meant to be?

As I do with World Events... I've made an AddOn, which I uploaded to Curse, and it gives a ton of information about completing this World Event.

If you do care to download then I hope that you found it useful. Players unfamiliar with the layout of opposing capital cities will especially like my BB King information.

In 2024 there is Vater Winters Helfer in Ironforge and Orgrimmar, providing transport to the location of Der monströse Griesgram. There is no transport back though.

Update needed:

The Greench is a high-level elite. You do not need to have tagged the Greench to get to loot the stolen treats, but you do need to tag him to get credit for freeing Metzen and turn in the quest.

You do not need to tag for Metzen. If you're there when Metzen is freed you will get credit automatically. If you arrive when everything's done and you still see Metzen, just talk to him for credit.

The quest listed here A Gently Shaken Gift is marked as Level 1 requirement, however this is the old quest, replaced with a new one back in 2016 with the same name, A Gently Shaken Gift and now requires Level 10 to accept the quest from the relevant present.

Wow absolutely nothing added for the housing decor. Way to drop the ball Blizz there are a billion of things you could have added like an engineering item to make it snow on your house plot. Let alone thousands of decor stuff could have been added.

I am gonna be honest... I am very disappointed that we did not get a few holiday decorations for our houses. Some stockings for all our fireplaces, a Christmas tree, various present bundles, a snowman for our yards and or Christmas lights for the outside of our houses. Even if they had made recipes to learn and created a holiday exclusive lumber like, Smokey Winter Veil Pine, and made us farm the lumber to craft the items it would have been time well spent and enjoyed! ((in my opinion))

Let's cross our fingers and hope for a little Winter Veil magic that tomorrows weekly reset will bring us some Holiday Cheer i.e. house decor items...

Festive Trans-Dimensional Bird Whistle and Highland Drake: Winter Veil Armor seem to no longer drop.

If anyone has confirmed sightings would be great to hear from you - as of today I'm at 364 attempts and nothing, on both alliance and Horde characters. Also the Hearthstation will not drop (I have the horde version) - seems to be a bug.
