Occular Beam - stay out of range if you dont want to be knocked of the platform
Focused Blast - interupt to reduce dmg taken
Aerial Strikes - move out of the swirlies
is found on Torghast: Twisting Corridors: Layer 1 Floor 6.
Seems to be bugged? He just faces me with Occular Beam after he finishes casting and instantly one shots me.
On Live, Paladin ilvl 154, I cannot kill him, got him down to 50% maybe. Too much Shadow damage. I cannot escape the beam, he rotates it instantly. Aerial Strikes have a wider area of effect than what is shown, and many times are so many, there is nowhere to go.
Here a video that shows better what Observer Zelgar does than the video that already is included of the hunter.
And yes. This is awfull. I already knew i was not about to make it, so i have pressed almost every button.
And since i have a bug that does not make me release spirit in Thorgast i have to do it all again. (unless it is not a bug then somebody tell me how to use my 4 lifes).
Hope it gives people a clear few of his abilities.
This boss is unbalanced trash
I agree with everyone here so far that this fight is ridiculous. I was able to finish him off as a blood dk ilvl 147, but had to cheese some anima powers to do it. It was still a nailbiter of a fight. Using
, it is possible to cast Swarming Mist then spam Door of Shadows in place for tons of damage.
Such a messed up fight with the tracking death beam.
Couldn't even save it with all my paladin defensives.
I managed to kill him on my 3rd try, Prot paladin ilvl 143. Anima powers choice probably play a big role too. But seriously I cannot imagine how other classes can kill him without a much higher ilvl.
Downed as ilvl 162 Holy Pally
Had to use just about everything I had, still died 3 times but killed him.
Best thing is to stun the first beam, bubble the 2nd, Divine Protection the 3rd if you can't stun. By then he should be low enough to kill.
: I think this may have been resolved in the
hot fixes for 2 December
. I've yet to test it personally.
I believe this fight is currently
. YouTube evidence suggests
isn't actually meant to track the player instantly. In fact, you should be able to avoid it rather leisurely.
Refer to this very short example clip I found that demonstrates the way I believe the ability is intended to function:
After barely putting him down on my ilvl 146 WW using
I had, I thought: 'Surely this is not the right tuning.' The behaviour in the video above makes much more sense to me.
For rogues use ur stun and gouge ability on Ocular Beam and u ll be ok
How in gods name are you supposed to kill this thing? I'm a ilvl 164 rogue and everything hits like a truck. Lost one hell of a run thanks to this guy killing me in 15 seconds. I don't have enough stuns for this.
Come on, I just had the best synergy ever.
Yeah, this is way unbalanced currently.
Everything up to the boss was pretty easy for me, but then the boss flips a switch to nightmare mode.
Basically, I don't expect a normal solo encounter to chew up 5 voidwalkers...before killing me. That usually only happens when I pull an elite mob that was designed for a raid and it kicks me around. I blew all my cooldowns/trinks/etc. and had affliction dots rolling and used a few tricks I never use on "normal" encounters, and it STILL wasn't enough.
Really unusual/suspect. I reported it in a bug thread on the wow forums, and hope you guys reading this go there too and report your experiences to get it some visibility.
I am not actually convinced this is bugged, it may be the intentional mechanics of the fight.
No, you can't outrun and probably can't survive the beam, so
you're meant to save your cc for it
(it's interruptable and he is stunnable).
Here's how I did it (NF Balance Druid): Popped Barkskin to survive his blast spellcasts (don't interrupt them unless you have a 15 sec cd or something), dodged the swirls, used Solar Beam to interrupt the first beam, popped my dps cooldowns and went ham (Convoke ftw), then repeated using Mighty Bash to stop the second beam, and finished him off.
I don't recommend doing it the other way around(stun first then interrupt), because when I tried that, at the end he melee'd me to death lol
So the eye beam is already insane, but he's ALSO bugged in that he likes to aggro after you die and come after you at the entrance
I alt tabbed to google the @#$%er and he killed me at the entrance for no reason
Unless you're a paladin, MAYBE a hunter, you probably won't get this guy until he's fixed
160 DH, save your interrupts for Occular Beam (though it appears you can run out of range on its damage) and save your fel dash to get out of range on Aerial Strikes. Outside of that, rotate cooldowns/healing abilities as needed. Still a very close fight for me, took 4 attempts.
WOOT FINALLY KILLED THIS POS! 154 Outlaw rogue.
Ran around like a little b*()h from stairs to stairs hitting as I ran by. Was able to avoid MOST of the Beams (thank you to those who mentioned this issue). Just give you an idea, I was able to use Spiritual Healing Potion twice. Kicked when I needed to, Gouged when needed. Hope this helps :-)
I killed him on the 4th and final try 167 Blood DK (2231333).
After some experimentation I had quite a few items I bought from the vendor:
Phial Of Serenity (Kyrian pot that heals for 20% of health)
Bought every single option from the NPC before the fight:
10K heal pot
Maximum Health upgrade
Lichborne cooldown reduction after each death strike
Anti Magic Zone increased uptime
Death coil healing for x percentage more
(There were a few more options but I cannot remember them)
I also used every single defensive cooldown as another came off cooldown for his eye blasts:
Anti Magic Shell
Lichborne Death Coil Heal Macro
One of my saving graces was the option that allows me to take control of any mob that allows it to fight for me for 7 seconds. This actually works on him and gave me breathing room multiple times during the encounter to adjust my position.
Let's not also forget that there are multiple debuffs that get put on you during the entire 3rd layer run:
20% reduced damage for the entire dungeon
Starts off at 1 percent of health taken as fire damage every second and eventually ramps up to 4 before you start the final encounter.
This boss is definitely overtuned and I cannot see DPS without stun or strong kiting/slow abilities getting this done. I recommend going in there with 5 stacks or food as you will be killed if idle too long, and you want to be topped off before you initiate the encounter as you can loose 25% of your health before you start the encounter because of the debuff. This encounter as frustrating and fun as it was really got the blood pumping and had my focus dialed up to 11!.
Did this today as a Disci Priest 163 ilvl. Boss had around 144k hp and a buff that stacks which increases its damage. Seems like a dps check since the third beam did a lot of damage. Have in mind that the beam knocks you back.
You can range the occular beam but you have to go faaaar and you have to be a bit out of range before he starts casting it. I was running away to heal and I went to the exit portal and ranged it when he was on the platform and the next one I went past the vendor. Didn't get hit by it and he didn't leash.
This guy stinks solo but let me break it down so more can beat him! It spams focus blast (Single target DMG) After some casts it uses aerial strike (Random areas will have circles for a few seconds before the strike hits). When the cast starts start moving away immediately, you do not want to wind up in one of the strike zones. In a full group it's a one hit kill. After the strike it may cast one or two focus blasts but then it will use ocular beam. Ocular beam is the one you want to interrupt or use the stun if you have it. Alternatively run very far away.
Boss only has 9 stuns so using them for the beam is very important. That's why you interrupt as many focus blasts as you can. (I say 9 stuns because if you use the 10th stun then he is immune to interrupts as well)
Focus blast is the hardest thing solo because he cast it so many times. While all this is going on you suffer -5% hp every five seconds.
One tip is to buy the potion if it's available, on an earlier floor even, to increase your attack until you leave combat. Super helpful on bosses.
The more healing/defensive potential you have the easier this fight is. If you know his mechanics it's very easy to beat him in a group of 2 or more! Aerial strike is the worst part for group kill but easy to dodge
Dualboxing tip with a pet class:
It can be problematic to dualbox this boss, due to avoiding the swirlies.
A solution is, you can position the pet class far away (out in the hallway, away from the room) to avoid swirlies on the ground, and let the pet tank the boss, rez, repeat. The other class does dps and is played actively by you. When pet dies, just alt-tab, rez, and tab back.
I don't even know how I managed to kill this one, it was a real *!@#$.
Fire mage ilvl 150, I had 19 anima powers, a phial of serenity and a potion with +30% damage, and still it killed me just in the extact moment that I killed it as well. Something tells me they need to fix this!
Honestly the fix for this fight is super simple, ocular beam needs to not track. this fight is going to alienate alot of people who aren't familiar with roguelikes away from torghast. ocular beam just hits way too hard even with mitigation, you have to burn everything you have just to survive and by the time the second one comes around it just drops you. they need to nerf this boss into the ground before floor 5 honestly this is a badly designed boss.
Okay so I literally made an account to help with some advice on this fight. I was able to down as a 150 Blood Death Knight. He is definitely bugged and needs to have his beam fixed.
1. Run away during the aerial strikes (common sense)
2. Almost immediately after he will use his blast. Use whatever interrupt you have.
3. Right after that happens sit on top of him. He will start his beam. If you are on top of him you have a chance of only being hit like 20% of the beam.
4. Once the beam is done pop a potion and repeat.
It took me 3 of my 4 deaths to figure it out. Good luck everyone!
Just did this as a 152 2H Frost DK.
Death Knights need to remember: Death Grip breaks channels, and he can be Death Gripped! It is an interrupt for the Ocular Beam that is outside of your Mind Freeze CD. If you get the power for 3sec knockdown on Death Grip, all the better, more breathing room. Necrolord DKs may be able to utilize their Covenant ability for this as well.
You will wind up using a lot more Death Strikes than other RP spenders, just to keep alive. Anti-Magic Shell is great to block some of the Focus Blast damage. AMZ would be good too, but be wary about Aerial Strikes.
As a Night Fae member, Soulshape is actually incredible in this fight, especially if you get 2-3 copies of the power to reduce it's CD and boost your movement speed. 3 copies makes it have a 0sec CD (-30sec per) and +150% additional movement speed (so you are going much faster than a ground mount, at 300% total movespeed), and Niya's 3rd Soulbind trait is a 5% heal every 3 seconds while in Soulshape. This is great to use when he goes for Aerial Strikes, and it will help top you back up as well.
Other super-useful Powers/Combos for DKs struggling on any boss:
- Undertaker's Crown (Lichborne causes you to radiate Death Coils, dealing damage and self-healing) with Lich Robes (Death Strikes reduce Lichborne's CD by 10sec per). Toss in some Skull Bloomers for the extra 50% Death Coil Damage/Healing as well.
- Boundless Fortitude would be amazing (Icebound Fortitude activates on any Mind Freeze interrupt).
- Blood-tinged Poker lets you use Sacrificial Pact with no CD, and puts Raise Ghoul on a 25sec cooldown, as another way to heal.
- Frostchipper (only for Frost DKs) is just amazing for any form of boss-killing.
Solo'd as a 156 Ret Pally after dying 2 times. You cannot get hit by his beam or you'll get one shotted.
He comes out quickly with the beam so I used Door of Shadows to get behind him, hit him with a stun, focused him down as much as I could. As soon as he came out of the stun I was able to interrupt his next beam, avoid his swirls, and pop a bubble for his 3rd beam, and he was dead.
I managed to kill him on my first try. BM Hunter here, ilvl 161. Popped all my CDs and misdirected to my pet. My corehound died like 2 times. I managed to burn him down the second time my pet died and my Aspect of the Turtle was on CD. Good mix of mobility and choice of anima powers would make a difference, I think, and of course, I have a pet so less damage to me. I have soulforge embers which also would make my tar trap explode, so added damage.
i am a ilvl 155 brew-master with 29 anima powers ...i hit my touch of death when zelgar was under my health ...under 30k ....didn't go off 3 times...and died...so i did it again...no luck and no soul ash...blizzard needs to fix these bugged bosses and bugged loot...we are sheep for their money grab(activision) sorry but since activision has involved themselves..only for our money
The day we learned about covenants was the day I knew every class will be unbalanced, some will complete it blindly, some won't be able to tryhard it weeks from now, fix this beam!
Dunno, I just stood by the stairs and started dps'ing, checking if he would despawn or something when leaving the platform. Ended up fighting him around the npc and right behind it, had my back against the wall when he cast Occular beam.
Bit tight on space when it came to the aoe he threw around, but was enough for me to be able to avoid them.
This was on layer 3 with a ilvl 161 shadow priest. Had 25 anima powers a that point. One that gave 25% crit on targets so pretty good for sp. Anyway, killed him on first go.
I had to register just to comment as well. This boss isn't hard. It's amazing to see how much peoples pants get on fire because something isn't super easy and doable without a single death. I figured this one out after dying a couple of times. Much more fun than just running in and zerging it down like most other content. It's a little depressing to see how put off people get just by the least of resistance :(
Took me a couple of times to figure him out - 146 ilvl ret pally. Interrupts + bubble + fleshcraft, over and over and over. It's that ocular beam of his that will get you. I'm starting to learn that you need to pick your anima powers for the boss fight, not the trash.
I was able to win on my last death by using the entire floor area with the spiral staircase as frost mage. Seems like a bugged fight. Not sure if he is intended to not reset and just agro as soon as you res but he did so I just ran around like a lunatic and finally wore him down.
This boss is a complete juggernaut at the moment. Even potting, and using interrupts on his beam, his regular casts just melt.
Affliction Warlock GEAR 148
Here is how I did it.
I took the power of the instant cast summon voidwalker "Choking Chains"
I did DPS between running from the aerial.. and..
the most important part is spamming resummon the voidwalker.
I was resummoning even if the voidwalkers health was just low.
if the voidwalker was up, Zelgar did not beam me. (much)
I also had the good damage buff, but I could have ran the fight much longer without issue using this strat.
I tried healing the void and that just didn't work.
This boss is ridiculous.
Item level 156 fury warrior, 23 anima powers..
My anima powers at the time of this posting.
Blowing every cooldown I have...
Still died in 15 seconds.
That beam would have had me for sure, but the solution to all the problems are the
Blinding Smoke Capsules
you can buy on floors 3 and 6. Remember to check both vendors because they might not be available on floor 6
Did this last night on a 146ish fury warrior. My first few attempt echoed what most are saying "this is impossible". Few things I found that made it possible 1) Ignore Pain is now available in fury. This can soak most of beam move the mob does that is a pain to avoid. 2) intimidating shout also interrupts 3) if kyran use steward pot and get pot from vendor 4) can heroic leap out of range of the beam. 5) get vendor item that gives unlimited rage for 90 seconds, this should allow for high dps and spamming ignore pain to keep it up.
Hope this helps someone else with the fight!
Just soloted it, apparently it was nerfed because i've 1st tried it pretty easily
It sucks but kiting him back and forth between the extreme ends of the playing field works. Just top up when you reach each of the end points as your timers permit. Took about 20 minutes to kill him this way solo.
Yeah... not happening. Definitely not happening as a ilvl 150 Warrior. Even using Spell Reflect and Pummel, the Focus Blasts were difficult to negate. Once you add the tracking Ocular Beam, this fight is down-right impossible. To avoid the beam, I would Heroic Leap away and keep running down the corridor... which worked well to get away from the Ocular Beam but had me at the mercy of the Focus Blasts, that I was now too far away to interrupt. I was able to get him down to 75% on my fourth and final death.
Just did it 2 mins ago as a Frost Mage.
Frost Nova does not break and Fire Blast knocks the enemy up are your friends, you have enough interrupts with that Fire Blast power to easily survive.
Fire Blast is by far the most important, you can make up for the Frost Nova Ice Lance DPS in other powers.
This boss is the biggest piece of unbalanced crap I have ever seen. 1 death and 3 vanishes to restore health.
On one of the attempts he did the swirls and the beam thing at the exact same time, everything up to this point was going down easy enough but that thing is just insane for a solo player.
I hate to think what that thing is like if you encounter in a group.
Solo'd as a Spriest. Usually I just blast through, not looting powers, not doing quests, just speed running. Had it take is slow, killed all rares, did every quest, highrolled so hard on powers and destroyed him. I ended up with 23 powers. The beam is bugged like others have stated. One thing I can recommend for my fellow shadowybois is the Epic Fade trait that summons a clone of you. Use it on beam and it stops following you and lasers the clone.
Seriously though this boss is actually just dumb. 5k-5.7k every two seconds is actually wild. Just take it slow try to stack up (and highroll) anima powers and just blow your load and hope he doesnt hit 10 stacks or its GG.
As a sub rogue with ilvl149 I got him to 6% hp kicking all his beams, dodging all his aerial strikes but didn't manage to down him. Really frustrating as the 6 layers of trash are just a waste of time, to then end up dying on this boss
Died pretty much instantly the first 3 tries but got it on the fourth try. I'm an ilvl 134 as an ret paladin.
Doable as protection warrior, but the beam seems indeed very unbalanced as other comments already said.
He can be stunned to interrupt the beam. Storm Bolt, Shockwave help a lot here, by alternating cooldowns you should be able to stun him every beam.
Use Spell Reflect on CD, works on his blast and helps you get him down faster.
In my case, I had a bunch of Anima powers to increase my max health + ignore pain, that seems to have worked pretty well.
Took me 2 tries, left the fight with >50% after I figured the above things out.
Just did this solo as a 150ilvl Fury Warrior. Took me 4 tries, here is what finally worked:
- Buy a potion from the vendor in prep
- Focus your pummel on the eye beam. This cast is quick so you need to react just as quickly. Mitigate the other standard casts in other ways as mentioned below
- Footwork the aerial strikes (obviously)
- Spell reflect as many of the regular casts as you can
- Intimidating Shout as many of the regular casts as you can
- Impending Victory is immensely helpful as an extra heal
- Frenzied Regen the first time you hit 50% health and your impending victory is on cooldown
- Pop your potion the 2nd time you are missing at least 10k health and your impending victory/frenzied regen are on cooldown
- Spam Ignore Pain as much as possible, anima powers improving this are helpful, however I had none and still succeeded
Other useful anima powers:
- The one that makes Execute/Condemn knock down the target, buying you additional interrupts (especially if talented to rng proc execute)
- 25% buff to Condemn (Venthyr Only)
- Stamina increases either directly or via mawrat kills
Good luck, this was super tough, and glad to see in comments that I'm not alone :D
is this boss still broken im an arcane mage and ilvl147 i still can't beat this boss. don't know what im doing wrong.
Feral druid, ilvl 153. Saved my interrupt for the eye beam, self-healing was able to outheal the damage I couldn't avoid; at least for long enough that I could burst him down. Popped every cd I had, offensive and defensive. It did come down to the wire, though.
Who am I kidding, I'm trash. It all depends on your anima powers. Best of luck to all, this one is a doozy.
This one took me two tries as an Arms warrior, and can confirm as of week 2, the eye beam attack is still ridiculous and unfair.
If you can, buy the potion that gives you a 30% damage boost as long as you're in combat, the quicker you can get him down, the less mechanics you have to deal with. I can't confirm if they're stunnable, but I had the anima power of knocking down on Condemn, so I was able to spam Condemn and knock them down 3-5 times in a row, so CC helps.
General advice for the beam though, don't try to side dodge it, let it push you back instead. You can't avoid it's damage, but it's range is only about 10 yd, or the length of the graphic. I used this opportunity to run way far back, allowing Second Wind to kick in.
This is another fight that will be substantially easier if you adapt the "never stop strafing" idea.
Best of luck friends!
After dying to this over 10 times, I realized I needed more dps. From 152 to 164 ilvl (which is not much). It took 18 anima powers which included reducing cooldown of blessings by 25%, Hammer of Wrath making the next Holy Power spending ability 100% more effective, maximum health up 15%, 3 Lay on Hands w/o cooldown (used 2), Forbearance increasing damage dealt by 50%, Avenging Wrath effects increased by 100%, Judgement 30% chance to allow Hammer of Wrath to be cast on any target for 5 seconds, and last but not least, attacks have a chance to cause myself to fade away, reducing threat for 6 seconds and while under this effect, 25% more crit. He had one attempt to cast his Ocular Beam, which I interrupted with Hammer of Justice. He never got to cast a second and the fight lasted just under two minutes. Yeah, he needs to be nerfed.
Hot garbage. Stuck at level 2 in Torghast because my Arms Warrior can't get past this obviously bugged boss. Good thing they delayed the expansion to fix all of these bugs, eh?
For WW Monks at least, don't be afraid to run from this guy, heal a little, run some more, heal a little more. I got wrecked 2 times trying to go toe to toe. Just kite him if you have to.
This is just absolute %^&*ing garbage. Unacceptable that it went live like this, and unacceptable that Blizzard has yet to fix it after a month.
177 Ret. It's not too awful now on layer 4 at least. I died once not getting the int off in time, second shot was 30 second kill. It's not bad.
As a 168 guardian druid with 26 anima powers, I soloed this with ease. Don't think I even dropped below 2/3 hp. Key thing is avoid the swirly things, interrupt the beam and moonfire/mangle/thrash away. This is cake for a bear but I shiver with the thought of doing Torghast at all as a non self-healing class.
Just beat this boss today (happy new year I guess?) Went down with relative ease, all abilities were avoidable, no wipes. Maybe It's fixed? That was a layer 8 as uh dk with 200+ ilvl. Last week another boss just absolutely wrecked me so I don't think it has to do with playing said class.
ilvl 191 subt rogue, layer 8 of the upper reaches. i think the best i can get him to is about 55%, and thats with all my tricks. doesn't help that the layer 8 debuff is 10% of my health in damage every 5 sec. but even still, it feels like im made of paper i die in about 3 proper hits. and like others have said, that Ocular beam seems broke, tracking the player, hitting them hard and fast cast time.
Downed on first try on layer 8 as Vengeance DH (ilvl 186). Just avoid "Aerial Strike", save interrupts for "Ocular Beam" and ignore everything else.
sub rogue couldn't get him down at layer 2! what kind of bs is this?
didn't die all run, went pretty easy even. had some killer powers, and with the last power I picked, I thought I would totally annihalate the last boss. little did I know :O
that eye beam just obliterates me; can't disrupt of stun him, as I couldn't reach him once the beam starts, but also couldn't get away.
about 50% of my health gone after the beam, with the rest of my health following very soon. I didn't stand a chance. not my furst torghast run, but could be my last solo run for a loong time
thank you blizzard, what an amazing way to end my hollidays
As 190 iLVL Ret Paladin
Managed to do it on the highest difficulty, when he uses Ocular Beam, just stun it with Hammer of Justice, dodge the aoe spells that are coming from sky, and heal yourself with word of glory when low. Not easy, but not too hard too.
this boss just embodies how bad torghast is. and if you want to have alts, guess what, you have to do this boring, unbalanced, not fun at all content for every character.
island expeditions were just as bad as torghast, but at least they didn't waste 30 minutes of your time for next to no rewards.
F U Blizz! This really ruined the mood for me. I had the best run ever up until this OP boss. It's not fun to be steamrolled like this.
Impossible as 163ilvl Outlaw Rogue on ONLY Layer 2.
Can maybe DPS him down to 30%, then it's impossible to stop any spellcasting due to exhausting stuns and having only 1 Kick every 15sec. Every Blast hits like a truck the less HP he has, and the beam is literally a cheat.
Blizzard should be ashamed. This "Torghast" is nothing more than a bugged, unfair, imbalanced chore.
I can see this being a breeze for some classes (i.e. Convoke Druid). For others, its just a dead end. Gratz to Activision!
EDIT: Managed to finish him on my last death. Survived with 3% HP. Had to burn all CDs possible and I still think I did it out of luck (and the help of the lucky Powers that dropped in the run)...
As iLvl 180 Affliction Warlock:
VW a must. Hopefully you picked up some pet health anima powers. If you have the option to choose the +100% health and damage per level (and keep him alive) he can tank this boss without problem. I didn't have to interrupt the beams and the VW survived. If I wasn't fortunate enough to get the lucky anima power choices, I'd have tried interrupting with fears and such. Moving out of Aerial Strike is a MUST, it will kill you. I used up my NightFae pod the first time because I thought I was out of the blast radius... I was wrong.
To be honest, the debuff you get for just being in this wing of Torgast was more of an issue for me than the fights... constant fire damage ticking away at your health, and increasing per level...
Just did this boss on Level 4 with a 169 ilevel balance druid and it wasn't too bad. I'm wondering if they've rebalanced its attacks since earlier comments made it seem as if ocular beam was unlivable. The damage wasn't that high but you did need to pay attention to the knock back to stay on the platform. Otherwise be ready to move out of aerial strikes and you should be OK.
Just did it with a 159 Ret pally on layer 5 after a few deaths. Make sure to interrupt the beam and stay out of the aerial assault and you'll get him eventually.
Consistently killed my hunter pet in seconds every time, even staying out of the aerial strikes the boss was impossible because I couldnt keep my pet up at all (a living pet is required for my spec to function). ilvl 188 in soulforge, seems the boss still has some issues to me.
Just ran into this boss as the final boss of my layer 1 run of Twisting Corridors.
Outlaw Rogue solo. Ilevel 211. By the time I got to floor 18 I had 79 powers and approx ~80k health. Boss had 3.1m health.
Bosses damage from Melee 20-40k.
Bosses damage from Focused Blast 35k-43k.
Ocular Beam - auto tracks instantly (does not just rotate around) kills in 2 ticks.
3 hours clearing 18 floors wasted. Unkillable.
I'm only on floor 1 and this guy wipes the floor with me. Blizz needs to hire some actual game programmers that know what they're doing. As a BM hunter, this should be a cake-walk on level 1, but he hits my pet for 75% OF ITS HEALTH IN ONE HIT and I cannot interrupt more than one thing every 45 seconds because blizz doesn't understand the nature of interrupt cool downs. You cannot have a mob spam an interruptible ability more times than you can interrupt, especially ones that can one-shot you.
Sadly, I lost my last life and will have to wait until some reset to finish the quest to get the clues for Anduin... story progression should NOT be this hard.
You guys think this boss is hard in other wings, wait until Twisting Corridors....
190 BM hunter, clear just fine through layer 2 of Twisting Corridors to encounter this guy on floor 18 with 3.5 million health. Three point five MILLION. LULZ. Not a chance, I think I maybe got him down to 80% health on one try.
I just don't understand the Torghast mechanic that you can clear 17 floors of a layer, then get the end and die beating you head against a brick wall boss that there's no chance of killing. I just wasted 3 hours for nothing.
This boss, at least, has since been hotfixed, though it seems a lot of classes are still struggling with it. Challenging enough as a BM hunter; use your interrupts-don't forget to buy yourself healing time with Ice Trap if you need it!-and just burn him down. Avoid the aerial strikes as much as possible, but getting hit once or twice shouldn't kill you. Take it slow and buy yourself breathing room when needed.
I never used (and never do use) Misdirection. Kept my distance, ordered my pet to attack, and started firing once he had aggro. Kept up pet heals, used self heals when needed, used Ice Trap to stun him and buy precious seconds for recovery. That's the best advice I can give for this one.
Unlucky and got this guy twice as my Layer 7 TC final boss as a 200 sub rogue.. First time I only had 59k hp and didn't stand a chance against the eye blast spam. Second time around I face him with 250k hp, he had around 8m hp and I was stacked with more survival than dps powers and he still is guaranteed a window to melee+eyeblast for your entire hp if you don't kill him before 10ish stacks. Even abusing the *!@# out of cloak and evasion powers on step and vial so theyre up 90% of the time, the melee/cast combo going to happen once you run out/rng out of stuns and immunities.
Did not miss casts when using vendor smoke bombs on him.
Just killed him on 18th floor of corridors on my BM hunter. Died 3 times and finally I figured out to kite him.
Luckily I had 90% movement speed increased with Forsworn Feather.
Burst, pet dies, run away, revive pet, burst and over and over.
Totally overpowered boss.
was lucky enough to roll this guy as floor 18 end boss for layer 8 twisted corridors
floor debuffs- mawsworn doggos(joke), fire dot(joke), and the coldheart hp % buff(no joke. honestly if you get coldheart in your run at all consider restarting).
Yeah so this guy wasn't dying.
2 in grp, Prot Pal and lock. This guy had 20mil+ hp. picked up as many hp boosts myself as were available in the run. a single focused blast was near one shot right at the beginning and we all know their dmg only goes up. Pretty much any of his casts getting through there was a good chance you were done. Sure i got interrupts as a pal, but not enough to keep a mob locked down for a 20mil hp burn.
I'm all for some challenging encounters, but this. This was literally just not killable. If it had been a close fight where we died right near the end, i could live with that. But to spend that much time going through all those floors only to meet a mob that was not killable, is bs.
Arms Warior, iLevel 183. Twisted Corridors 1.
Wow I am not having a good time of this. Just the Focused Beams do more damage than I can sustain. The stupid Ocular Beam actually isn't much worse. Like most posters my interrupt is nothing like sufficient to prevent damage. Not optimistic.
Edit: starched him, second try. Bad news is I have little useful advice. For Arms have Second Wind and when he does his channeled blast back the *!@# up/Lead away and heal. You won't lose aggro, might as well LoS him. Beyond that I had Empowered $%^&*slap so I had a 4 sec stun on Pummel and Notched War Axe ie a 20% heal on 20sec cd. That and Orbs of Replenishment don't despawn on death gave me lots of staying power. Can't say how'd I'd have done this without all that.
Had this guy as a solo frost mage (ilvl 198) on Twisted Corridors Layer 7 Floor 18. He had around 7 million hp and I felt the whole run really unlucky for anima (only 94 animabonuses and most of them were defensive...). Luckily I had my shimmer cd reduced to 7 seconds and my frostnova cd to 10 seconds. In combination with
this was gold.
I killed him with only 31k dps, thanks to
and 83% crit lol. For myself I took around 330k damage the whole fight because I was lazy on interrupts in the beginning but I had all 3 barriers absorbing 100k each.
He didn't appear to be immune to traps, which made this very easy as a hunter. Send in your pet, DPS your heart out, use Exhilaration to heal pet to full when it needs. Save interrupts for Beam. Avoid air strikes.
When pet dies, Freeze Trap the boss and revive the pet. Rinse and repeat.
Ok, so this trash should be doable but it's a pain like hell.
are easily avoidable so they're annoying but not a big deal.
is almost impossible to avoid when you're alone but quite easily interruptible.
It is possible to get out of it's range!
hits like truck in a long run (I have a feeling it hits harder the further away from the boss you are but I may be wrong).
Even being Prot Pala and having 2 regular interrupts and 2 more on CDs I can't interrupt all I would like to.
I tried to save interrupts for
but still ocasional hits from it plus
just deal massive damage. I got hit for twice as much damage I did in the same time and over 80% of it was
(only 17k from
, there was some melee (Attack) damage on second place). Mu guess is this should be easily done in a group with a healer so tank can focus on tanking/interrupting instead of staying alive. More interrupts from others should make it easier.
Stil, even if doable it is way overpowered for most solo unless a mechanic exist letting kill it easier.
I read about using the smoke on him but honestly I never used the Torghast smoke so far.
Wowhead guide tips for Observer Zelgar:
is a very dangerous ability that needs to be dodged at all costs - Getting hit by even 1 of them will put a massive dent on your health. Stop everything you're doing to ensure you don't get hit by Aerial Strikes.
is interruptible and you should try to interrupt as many of these as you can. However, as this is Zelgar's filler cast, you will likely not get all of them.
deals moderate damage and knocks you back for a few seconds. You can stop this cast by stunning or CCing Zelgar, just be careful to not let him throw off the platform if you're in a wing with a circular arena like The Soulforges.
I'm not sure what all the hype is about, but this wasn't a hard fight at all.
Guardian Druid, 198ilvl.
Soulforges layer 8, floor 6.
Zelgar with 437k hp, me with 75k hp.
It did 3.4k dps, I did 6k, fight lasted 73 seconds.
I just interrupted
. I healed through a total of 248k damage from
(2/3 of damage taken)
Torment: Soulforge Heat
(1/3 of damage taken)
, and only went below 50% hp once.
Edit: Hmm, down votes must be Guardian haters. Not sure what to tell you ppl except interrupt, dodge, don't suck.
Warlock destruction Solo'd , 206 itm lvl. Last boss of my layer 8 lvl18.
Voidwalker had 2.6
HP to tank the boss. Got lucky with RNG, last vendor had a combat potion (30% dmg increase in combat). Curse of tongues his ass, got anima powers to increase shadowfury duration. Did not use mortal coil, did not want to risk him opening with beam and randomly 1 shotting me.
Also, had anima power that spawns little zones, that when stepped in, increase dmg and movement speed by 25%. Very helpful for dodging Aerial Strikes. Even without speed increases, when you see him channel Aerial Strikes, just start moving. Don't tunnel, his Unnatural Power got up to about 12-13 before I killed him. Used infernal army twice during the fight (anima power reduction cd).
If you are a lock, hopefully you got 2-3 of the anima powers that heal you and your pet for 5% (amplified by other anima powers as well) on a chance on hit for spells cast at enemies.
One of the easier bosses to get imo
Ignore the outdated comments on this page. It's been nerfed. Interrupt Ocular Beam and nuke it. Done.
beat him solo on layer 7 floor 18. One shot my pet over and over. BUT tar trap slow with 100% radius makes him basically not move giving you enough time to rez pet again. You can also outrange his beam.
This is beyond ridiculous, I just wasted 7 lives and 2 hours on what has amounted to a poorly tuned encounter.
For context I'm doing this on Layer 6 of 8. Boss had 5.2m health pool (cue my silent tears of impending doom).
Examples of some of the powers I had (I genuinely hought I had this in the bag as the powers were dropping were good ones for me)
Ret pala ilvl 205 (with Kyrian companion healing me as well as 30% speed buff)
90+ anima powers
250k life at 18th floor with 50% crit and 45% haste (better than permanent hero/bloodlust)
6 consecutive Lay on Hands for those "ermagherd!" moments.
Wings at 120% power that lasts for 3 minutes.
30% slowed cast speed when enemies are within 30 yards.
High chance to automatically heal 5% when damaging enemy stacked 4 times (at 250k health - that's 50k heals!)
Literally ploughed through the first 17 floors like Jason Statham on anabolic steroids in a childs nusery. Didn't miss any anima power or bonus quests.
Obersver Zelgar finished me off in under 90 seconds every damned time. So frustrating.
Can't dodge the beam, can't outrun it, all I could manage was to avoid the swirlies on the floor, bubble and heal through what I could.
I've been playing pala for over a decade so I'm familiar with the regular tips and tricks but I can't see how this is realistically possible.
Best advice if you get him: reset.
With his gigantic loot table he drops all of 4 gold, 17 silver, 18 copper... nothing else.
Just solo'd him tonight, ilvl 188 Outlaw Rogue. he was on floor 6 for me in the new 16 floor torghast wing. best to take bottled engima for these wings - and as soon as he's doing occular blast, get out of range, bc he can't target you.
Did this a-hole on my resto druid, ilvl 186, layer 6 final boss and BARELY survived (after 4 of my 5 deaths). The only reason I made it (with 5% health left at the end) was because i had balance affinity active to dps from a distance, the moonfire buffs/debuffs, and 3 convoke spirits cooldown lowering anima powers. Also, I bought as many smoke grenades as i could to keep the boss from tracking me with that stupid beam...until he floated out of the cloud. I had 2 stacks of the 100% boost to barkskin that helped mitigate a teensy bit of the damage. I popped every movement enhancement CD and slowdown CD I had to keep as far out of his beam range as possible whenever he floated too close to me (yay soul shape!) All in all this fight was trash, I had breezed through every level up to him and he wrecked me over and over until I got lucky on the last chance.
Just did him on floor 6 of layer 8 as 195 BM Hunter during Beasts event. Took as many damage boosting powers as I could, for myself and my extra beast, as well as the one that let my beast heal me. Got very unlucky and only got offered the powers that spawned orbs for healing and no health boosts.
I have the BIS flare leggo and am Night Fae. I dropped an ice trap on him first, since I had the power that lowers enemy damage if effected by any trap, started my normal rotation and then after dodging his first AOE attack I layed into him with my tar trap + flare + Wild Spirits as well as popped my pet heroism and proceeded to destroy him. I never took any damage. Had to rez my pet once, thanks to the anima power that let me attack through turtle x2.
Not looking forward to him on twisting corridors though or when there's no Beasts event.
Killed as monk 161 with the strat: save interrupts for Ocular Beam, dodge floor swirlies, heal through the other attack, and dps whenever.
The anima power to make Vivify do damage to enemies is super OP
Was doing Twisting Corridors layer 1. Did 1-17 no problem. Some were hard but I figured it out. This one I could not. Skirted edge of platform, solar beam, typhoon, cyclone, you name it. It. Did. Not. Work.
Wasted 2 and a half hours just like that.
Extremely frustrating. I get it’s supposed to be challenging but this is over the top for a Druid.
Beyond frustrating for me! ilvl 193 Affliction lock. I had nearly 90 anima powers and over 30K phantasma by the end of the run. Layer 8 Floor 18 End boss and I just couldn't kill him. He had 9.1mm HP and my voidwalker around 350k. I have no reliable interrupt other than fear and shadowfury but with a cast time I just couldn't interrupt fast enough. I had a hard time managing doing DPS and trying to keep my pet alive.
Super frustrating spending nearly 5 hours only to die to the very last boss in the instance. Needless to say I am done with Torghast as I also failed on layer 8 floor 16 on my 207 resto shaman.
Got him at floor 18 of layer 2 Twisting Corridors, 2 man disc priest and prot pally. Both of us had taken ability where we occasionally howl and silence in combat. I stood close enough to the boss and almost all interrupts were taken care of by that.
I downed this absolute wreck of a boss on layer 12 of the Twisted Corridors.
- iLVL 183 frost mage
- had insane anima powers
- AVOID aerial strike / interrupt ocular beam
- Pro tip: USE THE ENTRANCE DOOR WALLS TO LOS (line of sight) THIS GUY TO A CERTAIN EXTEND! This is what's made it possible for me to squeeze enough dmg in and avoid direct attacks. The only thing you'll have to watch out for this way is to find a spot when he casts aerial strike. Having to blinks and Soulshape (Night Fae ability) gave me enough possibilities to quickly escape to safety and go back to my safe spot to LOS him.
- if you can, claim the shroud anima power that prevents enemies from casting their spells onto you when they're outside of your shroud. This will make your life as a caster a whole lot easier!
Otherwise, this guy is obviously not working as intended and insanely strong due to ocular beam being bugged. He IS doable though, just really hard. Took me 3-4 tries, even with all the tips and tricks.
Demonology Warlock, Twisting Corridors, Layer 8, Floor 18 and iLvL 193 (mostly covenant stuff maxxed out and LFR weapon)
I am not gonna lie it was a really easy fight with the right setup. Took me 1 minute and 9 seconds to nuke down his 13.5M HP (total of 293K DPS).
What you need is Demonology with talents:
Demonic Strength, Soul Strike and Demonic Consumption, rest is your choice.
Reset the dungeon until you get the Pact of Infernal Intimacy, buffing your demon each floor, lost if you or the demon die, so it's gonna be Hardcore mode, any of you die restart (unless it's on Floor 1)
Make sure you get these animas:
Hellfire Pact x 3 - 150% DPS boost for the Demon
Pact of Thickness x 3 - 150 Health boost for the Demon
Bloodgorged Leech x 3 - 15% of max HP heal at random times
Blood-Stained Dagger - to reduce damage done to Felguard by 35% after Health Funnel
Crystal of Perpetual Displacement x 3 - 24 sec less CD on teleport
Anything that boost your Stamina, Haste, Crit Chance and Mastery (in this order of importance)
Darkwhisper Signet - as much as you can, 4 of them preferred :) - to increase the number of Demonic Tyrants
Soul Platter - for longer DT action (with possible more damage too)
Realmlord's Insignia x3-5 - for more DT action
(this should be your shopping list most of the runs)
I had 116K HP, the Demon had 1.3M, 53% Crit, 94% Haste, 58% Mastery, 22% Versatility by the end and some more (+50%) Haste boost during the fight, a bit overkill, but it seems to me proccing the Bloodgorged Leech more often and you will need that.
During the fight 50% of the damage came from the Demonic Tyrants (190K DPS), 36% from the Felguard (72K DPS), 10% from the Dreadstalkers (20K DPS) and a whooping 3% from me (8900 DPS) LOL, so this just shows you how unimportant to buff yourself in any other way than what benefits your Felguard too.
So the fight:
Place your demonic circle far enough from the boss but not too far so you can walk back quick. I used the top of the stairs near the vendor.
start with your Dreadstalkers and send in your Felguard and once he's in summon a few imps with Hand of Guldan and then summon your Demonic Tyrants. Your rotation is easy:
Shadowbolt spam, when Soul Strike up use it and right after a short burst Health Funnel just to up the 35% DR on the demon. You heal the demon with the Shadowbolt spam not Health Funnel! When it does AoE teleport away to your safe zone and then walk back to pew pew more. When Dreadstalkers or Demonic Tyrants are up just summon them. Forget about Hand of Guldan or the imps or anything else but Shadow bolt or instant Demon Bolts to keep your Felguard alive.
Hope this helps.
222 Kyrian arms war. Twisting Corridors layer 8 floor 18. Unbeatable. I'm sure with the Venthyr knockdown it's a joke, but as a Kyrian this guy and the Blizz devs who don't understand balance in any content ruined me.
His regular cast starts at 70k. 70% of my hp. Within 30s it's a one shot (I had 105k). I leap the ocular beam. I kick/stun/fear the regular casts. But it's inevitable that one gets through within, what I assume would be, a 3min encounter.
3 deaths for far. 3 to go. No more damage pots. No more slam stacks. 141k dps and it just doesnt matter. First 17 floors were pretty easy. Any physical damage boss would have been a snooze fest. But this is gross.
I managed to kill this boss as a resto druid with guardian affinity and fae covenant. No problems with anything on the previous layers but kept dying on this - so on my last try I simply kept up shields barkskin / ironbark / cenarian ward - I had the anima skill to trigger entangling roots on barkskin and attacks. Then I simply ran around the very edge of the platform without stopping casting moonfire and Convoke the Spirits when it was off cooldown. I kept popping shields and the odd rejuvenation but otherwise kept running and spamming. Took ages but eventually got him.
Without good anima powers this guy just isnt gonna go down
Very easy as Marks Hunter. Just manage pet heals well and you're fine. I kept aggro on my turtle for the entire fight and just sat behind it. Dodge the swirls; exhilarate pet when it gets low; pop AoTurtle if you need to revive it. Its big laser beam wasn't actually hurting the turtle at all from what I could tell.
How is this still not fixed? It has been months now and he's still impossible. Geez blizzard blows.
I believe this boss was fixed. Last time I saw this one it obliterated me several times and ruined my run. That was months ago. Now I'm a 204 blood DK offspec took it down. Was an easy fight. Avoid the pools(Arial Strikes), tank or interrupt the basic cast (Focus Blast), save at least one interrupt for death beam (Ocular Beam). Boss can be death gripped around. Gorefiend's Grasp did not work. Can be stunned. Didn't need my whole toolkit.
Whoever said it's easy solo can eat my entire--I'm always up for a challenge but this was like going into Deadmines and finding N'Zoth instead of Van Cleef.
ilvl 193 Guardian Druid just soloed this as the boss of The Soulforges, layer 7. Ocular blast was kind of a nuisance, but didn't do a lot of damage or move me that far. Balance has been restored.
Just did this as a 208 fire mage. It took me all of my lives and a purchased potion from the final vendor. I had the thing that let my fireball interrupt spellcasting, though that only worked half of the time. Currently this is just incredibly unbalanced, especially with the Soulforge ticking away 10% of my life every 5 seconds. I really feel I just got lucky on my final attempt. This is the kind of thing that makes you want to unsub though, honestly.
did with duo DH, 1 tank 1 dps, ignored focused blast, disrupt on ocular beam, dont stand in the swirls.. piece of cake. If you tank him on the edge of the platform and run to the center when he aerials you can even take ocular beam to the face a couple times while you run towards him. it will push against you but ezpz
This must have been fixed as of March 8, 2021 because my Affliction Warlock is only iLvL 172 and beat
him no problem in about 3 minutes or so. My health never went below 80% and my Voidwalker never went
below 50% health. I am not even very good at playing a warlock, so I'm not sure why so many comments
are saying this boss is extremely difficult to solo. The only thing I can guess is that Blizzard fixed the problem.
192 ilvl Prot Pally on 3-8-2021 beat on first try
I took every "Lay on Hands has no cool down" anima power and had 6 remaining at the beginning of the battle.
Stayed very close to the boss. Occular beam, I just strafed and then ran through the boss. By the time he turned around and beamed me, I was close enough to the middle of the platform to not be pushed off. It IS possible to outrange it, I had to pony up and flee due to Aerial Strikes getting messy a couple times.
Ignored the focused blasts and only interrupted a few on accident via Avenger's Shield. Basically used Word of Glory on cool down to heal through the blasts. Judgement was reduced to a 1 second cool down, so whipping out judgements and Blessed Hammer kept Word of Glory up.
Avoided the Aerial Strikes was top priority. Divine Steed pony'd me out of the way a few times. Before it expired I looped around back to the boss.
Got hit pretty hard by the beam a few times and had to bubble through a beam+Aerial Strikes mess once. Used 5 Lay on Hands during the course of the battle due to the Occular Beams. I was able to interrupt it a few times with a stun.
Some anima power gave me a ton of Hammer of Wraths, and extended my Avenging Wrath time, but it was really the "Lay on Hands has no cool down" which enabled me to brute force my way through it. Luckily I had some pretty bad Anima Power choices in the middle and just took Lay on Hands No Cooldown as the best of the 3, which ended up working out. I also had the 'Cloud that prevents enemies from targeting you if they're outside it' anima power which I also think helped a lot.
Shadow Priests, FYI. @ layer 4 tower, last boss, he's at 4.35 million hps. A not-so-subtle hint:
At ilvl 198 with a reasonable build and all those sashes and endurance buffs, I had 395k hps, so that triple-stack of Dark Technique, that super high crit rating @ 70%, and extra-long fear time all worked together in harmony. I simply walked up to him and hit psychic scream *once* . Almost every tick of Dark Technique was a critical strike, ticking for 142k hps/0.7sec for 24 seconds (34 ticks total if left to run to completion, but he was dead before that). Dark Technique doesn't count as damage that breaks Fear, so if you do NOT dot him with anything else, just scream and stand there, the fear will run to completion (or he's dead) if you allow it. I never took a single hit, and never cast another spell; one click and he just flopped over about 20 seconds later.
Another little tip for whatever it's worth - ilvl 200 UDK- I had the anima power that spawns 3 healing orbs when you first attack a boss
, so I went in and purposely suicided immediately after those first 3 orbs spawned right after pull because the orbs remain after a death. This way when I pulled second time I had SIX orbs spread around floor to use thru-out the fight. This worked wonders for me. Hopefully this helps someone :) GL!
Just did layer 6 of Soul Forges and didn't have too much of an issue.
(well other than the fact it still faces you with the Occular Beam, but even then, I didn't get hit with too much damage nor got push too far by it)
Fury Warrior ilvl 200
ilvl 211 BM hunter, first 3 attempts were fails because the boss kept one-shotting my pet. On the last try, instead of constantly trying to rez my pet, only to have it one-shotted again, I simply turned off Growl and kept aggro on myself the whole time. That worked because the pet was still able to dps, intimidate, BW, etc.
I had this as my floor 18 boss in layer 7 last night. The wings I got, in order, were Mort'regar, Upper Reaches, and Soulforges. This boss was entirely unkillable. As guardian druid, I had 2 stuns and an interrupt and would use all three as often as possible to stop Focused Blast but it was never enough. One hit would immediately eat half my health. If Aerial Strikes was active, I could not get close to interrupt without immediately being deleted. Ocular Beam is unavoidable. It's apparently not supposed to track you, but it still definitely does. I would interrupt it if I had a backup available for the other ability. I blew through all of my available lives, even 2 extra, in less than 10 minutes. I had a ton of extra damage anima powers and plenty of auto-healing ones, but it didn't make any difference. Three hours entirely wasted. I had to log off for the rest of the night because of how irritated I was.
Nearly a year after players pointed out this boss is bugged, the fight still is a buggy disaster.
Why hasn't Blizzard fixed this awful boss? Are Blizzard execs too busy harassing their female employees?
I got this boss AND a Mawsworn Doubtcaller.
First try I died pretty quickly.
Second try I managed to pull the Mawsworn Doubtcaller separatety.
Killed him and was just going to attack the boss when he respawned and I died pretty quickly again.
Third time I killed them both because since 9.1 the don't regain life after each time you die;-)
Solo'd bm hunter iL 220 with a clefthoof.(pet was on boss the whole time, only had to throw in one heal to top him up)
Took me 3 attempts to work out a run in run out strat.
Popped cheetah and disengage but its not needed if you get your timing right.
I used my full range at the top of the bottom set of steps.
I was lucky just managed to keep in sync with it.
Didn't use any interrupts just burned him down.
Because I play with 700+ms latency I had to start moving out just before the aoe appeared.
Im used to making these adjustments, no complaints.
May 2022 Just needed to put an up-to-date comment on here, to say, yeah, still a very disappointing encounter.
Out of nowhere, I got a quest that invited me to try Torghast's new portal. So ..... I did enter the new portal and got as far as this mongrel .......
Why did Blizzard invite me to try this when they must have known this guy would wipe me out.?
