You can obtain 0-5 of them from defeating the boss in the Froststone Vault Primal Storm event in The Forbidden Reach.

The event itself spawns once every two hours, you only receive Leftover Elemental Slime once per boss.

If your server is fast, you can "farm" this 2 - 3 or even more times every 2 hours. After killing it, quickly jump into the custom group finder and join any group on the Forbidden Reach (Key farming, Rare farming, whatever.) If you're fast you can get onto a server that hasn't killed their primalist yet. You can loot the same boss multiple times on other servers, easily netting you 5 - 8 (or more) slime per window.

There are a couple of things to know that will help you speed up your farming of the 50 required items:

first, the event spawns exactly every 2 hours, and at the time of writing this it happens at EVEN hours on server time (2pm, 4pm, 6pm and so on) which makes it fairly easy to login just in time for the event without having to waste time waiting.

The second, perhaps most important thing: you can actually server hop and get the items to drop more than once per event. As far as i understand it, they drop once per day per different type of elemental invasion (fire, frost and so on), however the associated element is not fixed, therefore you can do a fire event on your shard then join a group where a frost event is up. Personally, being from a low pop server, i normally join a group in LFG before the event start to guarantee that we kill it fast, then after i loot the first time abandon the group and go back to my shard where it's usually still up. At times i even managed to join a third shard for triple reward. Of course RNG is RNG, and supposedly if you find 2 of the same invasion type you only get the reward once (i havent personally tested this).

EDIT: the type of event has actually no relevance, as i managed to get items 3 times the same day from fire invasions, so it's literally just do as many as possible, sometimes they don't drop i guess because of RNG alone.

What the hell is this droprate? 4th time in a row I got not a single slime... too bad these are not BOA I got the remaining slimes I need on another alt

Also adding here that this is no longer a 100% drop.

Maybe it never was, but the first 4 or 5 kills dropped at least 1 slime. I did watch a video form PTR saying it's 100%.

Last 2 kills gave no slime, including a first time kill on an alt. Unsure if bugged or they just decided to make it a rare drop, for some extremely weird reason.

I, like others, also started seeing many repeated kills without slime drops. Here's how to effectively farm these without shard hopping:

Turn warmode on. Find a group in LFG under custom doing Forbidden Reach rares with warmode on. There is always at least one group up with plenty of people -- if not, start one! It'll fill in no time. Without fail so far (in my experience at least), this will guarantee your faction takes control of the storm and you get loot.

Warmode on increases your loot. I went from 1-2 slimes per drop with plenty of no drops to guaranteed drops with 2-5 slimes. Surprisingly, I got 5 slimes to drop fairly frequently.

P.S. You can likely combo this with shard hopping if you're quick and clever:

Get the kill without warmode on since it's always a swarm of people and down in like 2 minutes
Port to Valdrakken/Orgrimmar (mage portal, orgrimmar cape, etc.)
Turn on warmode
Find a group
Hearth to Forbidden Reach
Get to the storm
Profit!

For anyone wondering, you can still find groups for this, I have been able to kill 2 to 3 bosses and they are dropping anywhere from 3-5 per kill

even more about slogging drop rate, and it not being Account Bound which would still slog, but..

Wait, it takes how many of these darned things? What fresh heck is this? (Secret Fish Goggles, I'm looking at you. Either a delightful romp past a bunch of other achieves looking for this holy-grail result, or... a grind with crazy sauce attached. "or". ha, ha.)

Just to give an idea about drops.

I did 12 events and only got 4 slimes. So it's possible this could take you over 100+ kills to earn the slime.

Overall it was probably around 60 kills to earn enough for the mount(a good chunk was obtained back when it was a 100% drop), but beware this can be a long grind if Blizz wants it to be. Small tip, once you do it in yer zone, search for a custom group for "reach rares". A lot of the time the storm will be up again in these groups and you can double dip on the kills.

Good luck. This is a very ridiculous grind due to the rather low drop rates.

I might be wrong, or just lucky, but by killing them solo WM:ON I'm always getting 2-5 of them, while in WM:OFF not grouped I don't get any.

The event is completely bugged. The issue has been raised multiple times on the forums but it seems to gain to attention. It has become more likely that there will spawn no adds at all, than the other. Its actually so frustrating. Today we were more than 10 people waiting for elementals to spawn for 15+ minutes. We gave up eventually.

Event is still bugged sometimes as of August 7, 2023. No elemental adds, boss unattackable. Even server hopped to a different shard that was also bugged.

Event still doesnt seem to spawn at times, and on the rare times it does the event is still bugged. So annoying you can't do CURRENT expansion content AFTER the patch it came out of is over.

I've done the Primal Storms a couple of time now the last few days and I'm sometimes getting drops and sometimes not (WM off). Doesn't seem like it's bugged, just not 100% droprate, maybe something like 50% sadly. Keep hanging in there, we'll get there eventually!

The server I play on (Aerie Peak) is set at EST and an event spawned at server reset (7am realm time). That suggests to me that the event spawning on even or odd hours is dependent on server reset being on an even or an odd hour.

Got this done in an afternoon. not a hard solo as a 444 hunter, just a little slow.
I imagine finding this event will get easier as time goes on and the area becomes less relevant.
I was getting 3-5 slimes fairly often, a few 1 slime drops and only two instances where i got no drops. so hopefully they upped the drop from previous comments? the bosses have no daily lockout and can be farmed for as many times as you find them.
It was much easier to find the event up in the morning, and more tricky during the afternoon/evening. so early morning or late at night will net you the most kills.
having alts on multiple servers will greatly help with your farm here. Especially since these are not BoA for some reason. The way i farmed this was i set my hearth to the nearby Inn and would camp my main server. once the event popped i would kill the boss then start checking my other servers with alts i had parked in the area. If i found one up, i would make a group in lfg and invite myself over for another kill. Once i had checked all my servers in normal mode, i'd switch to WM on and hearth back to the zone. check a bunch of alts on other servers set to WM, invite myself, rinse and repeat.
i always prioritized the most populated servers first and left warmode for last since fewer people farm that phase and its a bit more risky, wheras the high pop servers tends to be farmed pretty heavy so they will be dead if you dont jump on them first. took about three rounds of "even hour spawns" to get all my slime.

It’s been months and I haven’t seen the event. I’ve killed rares for the vault to get some leftover items and it still hasn’t spawned. I don’t know if the devs got rid of the event but since the new zones- I haven’t seen a single event.

Also too bad the slime isn’t BOA.

I can confirm they do indeed drop in season 4 dragonflight. Even hours for CST/PST, odd for GMT,EST. not 100% chance tho.

It seems as if the drop rate for Leftover Elemental Slime has been nerfed in TWW. Just killed the boss in a party - one dropped for someone and zero dropped for the rest of us. Blizzard, please. Nobody wants to go to the Forbidden Reach. We didn't want to be here when it was current. Why would we want to park a toon out here now?

Sharing my experience on this one. I have collected bits and pieces across characters during regular questing but found out about this mount during Mount Mania, so here I am farming the slime in 2025. I parked my monk who had the most at a whopping 11 slimes and here is what I got:

This event does not seem to be on a rigid timer now. I've been in the zone quite a bit and have seen it spawn in as little as 15 minutes from the previous kill. And other respawn times less than 2 hours.

Possibly it's now anywhere from 15m to 2 hours. I'm not sure if it 'despawns' but, if it does not, that would explain why the previous commenter found it up every 2 hours i.e. the event may have spawned much earlier and just stays up until completed.

Just got 50+ slimes and the mount. Everything's quite clear. Even hours for EU, odd for US realms. The thing is that when nobody's doing the scenario it exists as long as it takes somebody to start it. That's the reason you might see it in random time.

Here's today's example. Had 3 多余的元素软泥 to go. Loged on at 5:58 AM on RP realm. The scenario was up with some windy guys. Done it in a minute, got 1 slime. Waited for two minutes for a new scenario with earth guys to start at 6:00 AM. Got 5 slimes more. Created my 黏黏的蜗牛元素.

Lovely note for the people still farming this. Either Auto attack, take your weapons off, or heck get naked if you are max level to tag the boss. Please stop deleting the mob when there are multiple people around. I've experienced 3 times now, that I will be the one waiting to kill the 5th elemental at the bottom of the stairs to activate the encounter, mount and fly to the boss and clueless, inconsiderate people just delete the boss and I get no credit. It's very disheartening and frustrating, and I hope anyone reading this comment does better in the future to be kind and patient and if you visibly see other people standing around waiting, to give it a good 15 seconds before just killing the boss.
