Wowhead guide says Alleria's chest, in-game it says Valeera's chest. So which one is it?

EDIT: Many confirmed it's from Valeera's chest (aka Old Town objective).

Hello, just to confirm this can drop without a full clear. I knew someone who did Trade, Dwarven and Old Town; than wiped on Alleria. Yet still the illusion dropped from Valeera's chest. Also he was with a buddy and he didn't get the illusion so it's personal.

Edit 4 March 2020: Okay guys, I got the illusion now but need to express best way I found.

Basically I have one character who ques visions with a friend. While another two characters I solo it on.

Which one of the solo characters started 2 weeks ago and other at the start of the patch.

Therefore I've done more than double the runs for this void illusion without my friend. I confirm as of today, it dropped for him twice now and he traded it me. I suggest to you all to please farm it with friends as it increases your chance of getting it if they already have, and willing to trade. For him to get it twice in so little runs is pure luck but thankfully I don't have to farm it on anymore alts. I also recommend storing your visions and skipping the Orgrimmar week which I did.

Can Confirm im the first person in wow to receive this Item in Valeera's chest you do need to do her sequence to get the illusion it does not drop in Alleria's chest and you do not have to do a full clear ! my name is Socs-Tichondrius I got it my first run of release day of Visions of Stormwind.

Edit: Yeah after doing many runs, it definitely doesn't. All of a sudden, I did start to get a ton of them for no reason after I got my first though, and when soloing, I only do 5-mask clears, so idk.

And when are hunters able to use simple illusions like these? I mean it's not hard at all to make a simple color effect work on bows and guns aswell. Same goes for off-hands like books for casters and that stuff. These don't seem to work any different on most swords, axes and so on ...

FINALLY got this after my first full clear with a mask on! It was a solo run, with just one mask active, and it dropped from Valeera's chest at the end.

Got it on my 21st try from Valeeras Chest with at least one mask on. (all solo runs)
From what I can tell, you do not get an increased chance with more masks? I did a 4 mask run, completed Old Town, and failed on Mage Quarter. No drop. Then I did a 5 mask run only doing Old Town and Alleria, no drop.
I'd have a guess that there is a 5% chance for the illusion to drop. (Citation needed)
I hope more information comes out for this, because I'm just as confused and frustrated as everyone else.

The only requirement is to finishing Oldtown objective in Stormwind Vision. I finally got the illusion after sending many alts through Dwarven District/Oldtown for my alt's cloak upgrade process and finally got it after many runs.

I cleared each area in a Stormwind Vision with all 5 masks but failed at Alleria - it still dropped.

Be warned if your using this enchant, for melee players it seems to bug out in combat and revert to the original weapon appearance for what ever reason.

Doesn't seem to be mentioned here, but once you have it, it's account-wide (like the other illusions) and doesn't have any level requirements. So you can put it on your alts to make otherwise mundane-looking weapons look cool!

(Note: Weapons that cannot have illusions applied to them, such as guns and bows, and some weapons with special effects already, like artifacts or 沸魂 cannot have this illusion applied to them.)

I can confirm that it still drops as of this patch in Shadowlands.

I just got it on my hunter, after running the place 50+ time (maybe even 80+ time, did a few runs back at lvl 120 as well).

Mount up, run to old town, FD, kill the first 2 NPC, move to first key dropper, Valeeran need to be in melee range before you can attack / do the event, kill the elite, move to second key dropper, FD, kill it, kill the 4+ guards before the gate, she will then tell you that you both need to click it at the same time (she will not if the 4 mobs are still alive infront of the gate).

Once you click 1 of the 2 orb, she click the other, you then kill shawn, take portal to the keep, kill the 2 guards infront of it, hear some RP, kill Alleria, place ends.

You then beg that the Valeeran chest have the plan, if not, gl on your next run!

I did it with no mask on.

Sidenote: The gnome can drop a toy, if you havent gotten it yet, i suggest you kill him (well, CC him, kill his bots a bit away from him) then kill him, for a chance on his toy, once you gotten that toy, you can ofc ignore him.

If it's not showing up as unlocked in your Illusion tab directly after learning it, simply logging to another char and back worked for me.

Dropped for me, first attempt at Old Town since 9.0. Did it solo, as a ret paladin. I put on the cloak but I doubt if I needed it. Had to log totally out of the game and back in to get the illusion to appear on the transmog vendor.

Minor bug report!⚠️
I've got and added 幻象：虚空之锋 by left clicking on the item. Everything seemed fine, but, in my collection window, the enchantment was still locked, as if I still didn't have it. I logged out to the character selection screen and re-enter the world after a minute, with the same character who got this item. As my character appeared, the yellow light effect of obtaining a weapon enchantment triggered and the is unlocked and available to select it for me.

Been farming this every other week in SL running no masks. I had a few characters with all masks unlocked etc.

For fun i tried to do a full clear 5 mask run on my DK , ( i know only old town clear is needed), and it dropped first try with the masks!
I never tried with 5 mask runs in SL on any character.

Now here is the fun part, i tried another character wich i have farmed the illusion on, i put on all 5 masks, cleared all objectives but wiped on last boss.
The illusion dropped on this character too.

I dont really know if masks affect the % but i just wanted to share my experience farming this.
Both drops were in 9.2.5.

Just posting this for future farmers. Got this after ~31 runs, no masks (with no masks unlocked). Farmed only Old Town (Valeera) and Alleria (Final Boss). I got it on a run where I only killed Old Town and then lost to Insanity.

Idk if it matters or not, but i did over 50 old town runs without any masks on and didnt get the illusion, but as soon as i put 3 masks on (Dark Imagination, Long Night, Pained) i got it first try. Try it yourself, maybe there is higher drop chance with masks on or smth.

I just wanna explain my experience to help anyone farming this in Dragonflight.

It dropped my first Stormwind run while wearing all five horrific visions masks. It was a bit timegated in order to get the first mask, then wait for Orgrimmar/Stormwind. If you look on the wowhead guide about the masks, it will tell you how to collect them all.

Once you have obtained all five. Equip them prior to your Stormwind run. Go right to Old Town. Clear trash and use a cleanse orb to keep yourself going (try not to use your last stand cleanse). Use another orb right before Shaw. I also found using all my cooldowns to clear Shaw fast was the right move. Take the portal back to cathedral then use an orb right before Alleria. Keep moving for Alleria and hide behind pillars when necessary. If your five mask Old Town clear worked, the illusion should drop. Good luck!

Had no luck for 20~ runs fullclearing with no masks, equipped all 5 and did a single full mask run. Illusion dropped. It might be a coincidence but it's a coincidence for far too many people.

I have ran this more times than I can count at this point and the illusion REFUSES to drop for me. With masks, without masks, full clear, only old town, old town and the final boss... NOTHING. You have officially defeated me, Blizzard... I can only hope and pray this illusion goes to the traders post some day.. because I'm done.

Worked for me first time using this formula on two characters.

3 Masks (Dark Imagination, Pained, Long Night) > Clear Dwarven District > Clear Old Town > End. Another comment suggested only having 3 masks and it worked for me.

PSA: I looted the illusion from the end chest and right-click "learned" it, but it didn't appear as an option to mog, even after logging out and into different characters. After fully quitting the game client and relaunching from the BattleNet app, I can now use it.

I got it after a full 5-mask clear, just for the record. Happy hunting!

I obtained this today in Dragonflight, here are some general bits of information I have for those looking to get this appearance

To even begin to farm for this weapon appearance, you have to complete the ' Visions of N'zoth' up to where you will enter and unlock horrific visions for the first time

Once you have horrific visions unlocked, make sure you're running Stormwind as it only drops from the Valeera end chest, which you get for completing the Old Town objective, if it's an Orgrimmar week, save up your 惊魂幻象法器 for the following week

There shouldn't be a daily/weekly loot lockout for any of the final chest drops, including the weapon illusion, I received mine after around 5 visions on one day

There seems to be a lot of varying information about how many masks you should run to have better odds, I'm not sure if masks do actually make any difference, but for those wondering I got mine on a one mask run

In these comments there are some claims of the illusion not properly registering in collection until relaunch, fortunately I didn't encounter this and it registered straight away. So the bug may have been fixed

I got this from around 8-9 Storm Wind visions in one day. I had no masks whatsoever unlocked, and it is not needed in any capacity.

You will likely need to level up your cloak if you are more casually running things, so be aware that the sanity drain can be strong.

Finally picked up after nearly 3 months of very poor RNG - if you have some extra time during the Ogrimmar Horrific Vision week, I recommend grinding through the storyline on one or two more alts just to give yourself the most amount of opportunities for the Illusion during Stormwind Horrific Vision weeks.

Just got this in the Revisit in TWW. The revisit doesn't need entry tokens like the one from BFA. Just go straight to Old Town and kill Shaw, and get Valeera's chest at the end.

Can confirm that this still drops in the Visions Revisited in TWW! It took me 20 runs of the Stormwind Vision to get it, so it seems that Wowhead's stated drop rate is somewhat accurate. Also important to note: Masks don't seem to affect drop rate, I did all 20 runs without a single mask. Happy farming everyone!

Can confirm you can get it with no masks on an incomplete run. My strategy was blitz all the way to Old Town boss, kill them, and run into the shadows to die and loot chest. Took me about 30 tries. Once you get the illusion, use it and relog to have it work properly.

(Stormwind Only)
Detailed route steps:
- Disable the upgrade for a revive outside the vision.
- Disable all masks
- Play a class with stealth (optional). There are no mobs on the way to Old Town that can see through stealth.
- Start and go forward until you reach the stairs of the cathedral and then and go straight to the bridge leading to dwarven district. Jump right climbing over the cages/boxes and continue down the canal until you reach Old Town. I did this on outlaw rogue and you could grapple across the canal easily.
- Open old town's door, and WAIT for Valeera Sanguinar to appear, you may have to wander a little tiny bit to trigger them appearing.
Important note, invis mobs here have a super strong movement poison they apply to you!
- Run through old town, take the first right and pull that mob. Pull them up to the old town boss and nuke both.
- Run up and click the pillar when Valeera Sanguinar is standing at the other one.
- Kill Shaw. If sanity is an issue, make sure you aren't looking at the eyes he summons.
- As soon as Shaw is dead, do not use the portal or run back. Run into the shadowy fire to take 20% of your HP a second and die. This teleports you to the rewards room where you can open the chest for a ~7% chance at the illusion.

Finally dropped for me today on my 34th try, patch 11.2. My strat was run past the gnome outside dwarf district to old town, do Valeera's quest, kill Shaw, TP back to Alleria and kill her. I did this on every single run. No masks or anything. Good luck if you're still trying to get it! Just stay patient and keep running, it will drop eventually.

I did over 40 runs today between meetings. No drop. Got 3 eye of chaos pets... Maybe just not my day.

1. Enter with no masks
2. Only killed Shaw
3. Died and went straight to rewards room
4. Looted both boxes each time

Doing the math, if this a 7% chance drop... in theory, within ~32 runs that's near 90%, this should have been received already.

Well, after 100 Shaw runs (with and without 1 mask, with and without Alleria's kill), I STILL haven't gotten this...
I've already saved up and bought Corruption of the Aspects from scratch, got 16 eye pets and a couple of other pets, BUT NOT THAT DAMN ILLUSION.
