Easy Mass Quantities:
lets you “vacuum up” entire pools of Ionized Minnow. This is far, far, far, faster than normal fishing.
You first get access to it while on the quest
(you don’t have to stop vacuuming them up once you have the 200 for the quest).
After you’ve completed the quest, you can talk to
(who gave the quest) to get access to the Minnow Vac again.
/way Mechagon 37 47.2 Danielle Anglers
This comes in particularly handy for crafting
to level the cooking profession (from 140 to max). The only other non-vendor ingredient is
which most folks will get an abundance of while doing the Mechagon activities.
Credits: Thanks to psyOPs for pointing out that you can get the Vac again after turning in the quest.
Thanks to Aesiria for pointing out the use for efficiently leveling cooking skill.
As of writing this comment, does not go into your bank's Reagent Tab. This despite it being used as a crafting reagent in two new cooking recipes (F.E.A.S.T and Mech-Dowel's "Big Mech").
For over two weeks now, I am coming to Mechagon to fish for ionized minnows and at no single body of water in the areas marked on the map above is that fish to be found. There are two other kinds but none of the IM. Am I doing something wrong or what?
I fished some up from the open water in front of Danielle Anglers at 37,47. Very low drop rate, but it will do if you only need a few and the quest is not up.
Forget about the suggested sites on the east coast. Head to the west coast and find Danielle Anglers (fishing trainer). Ask nicely and Danielle will lend you the MINNOW VAC. Too easy !
If the pools aren't showing up for you, make sure the graphics settings aren't too low. I had mine set to 1 and after a lot of frustration I discovered that the pools were there, they just weren't visible.
As people are saying, if you need to farm these you should use the
to speed it up.
I have found a pretty efficient way of speeding it up a bit more.
Firstly you should be using the Jet-pack
because then u can fly over the pools and suck them up without being dismounted.
Secondly, you should use a keybind to your Extra action button (either via Bartender or macro /click ExtraActionButton1).
If you spam your keybind at the same time at you click with your mouse at the targeted pool, it will bug out and you can use the vac again without cooldown.
So if you fly to a place with 2 pools close to each other, and use this trick, you can get them both in the same 12 sec CD
It takes a little getting used to, but when you get the hang of it, you can get many fish really fast.
If you're fishing a pool and don't get any minnows, it's not broken. You are fishing in the wrong pool. (<<<is dumb ass)
It’s about 70% in Mechagon southeast at coords 83:72
I don't think anyone else has mentioned that the minnows also make a very powerful food item, canned minnows, which heals for 21,120 health and 12,600 mana. But it is not a normal food item. You cannot make it through the cooking skill, you have to go to Mechagon Island to get it, quite a task in itself. See Danielle Anglers on the island at 37, 97, the west coast. She will give you a quest using a minnow vac to capture large groups of minnows at once. DO NOT try to catch the minnows using the fishing skill, it will be a major waste of time. As was mentioned, once her quest is completed you can see her again and borrow the minnow vac any time you want. They are off the west coast near her, be sure to have "find fish" enabled. The only other component to canned minnows is the spare parts, which are found all over Mechagon Island. Once you have the components, take them to Pascal K1N6 at 71, 32 on the island. He will make the canned minnows for you if you have earned the recipe.
