Rank 2 took me a lot of mining before I got the quest item to drop, but it is dropping...have faith and keep on it

According to my research this is the best ore to prospect. Here's what it yields based on 1000 ore prospected.

Uncommon gems	1.934	77.4
Rare gems	0.727	29.1
海怪之眼	0.046	1.8

Currently it is also the cheapest ore on my realm so it's obvious that you should prospect this of you want any gems. It yields far more rare gems than the other ores and a bit more uncommons as well.

Not sure about alliance side, but for farming this on horde, voldun is a hotspot. Make sure you have an addon like gathermate and set filters for all. This ore is will spawn in the same spots as the other two ores. Around the edge where it's very rocky is where I've found 99% of the nodes.

Not really relevant to farming or anything but I really like the look of this node. It also reminds me of the excitement of finding a Titanium node in Wrath :D

If you can get access to the 反重力背包, you can mine hundreds of 镍铜矿石 and 雷银矿石 per hour in 麦卡贡. For me at least, it has been the most lucrative method of mining in BFA. This isn't to mention that you can rack up on harder-to-find ores this way as well like 白金矿石, finding/looting 机械化的宝箱 for materials to build additional 反重力背包s, completing achievements like 活塞亡魂, and so on.

If you have the jetpack, you can mine the ore and open 机械化的宝箱 without ever dismounting, plus you can use it inside the caves making quick in-and-out mining take only seconds.

On days where the the 损坏的锈栓军火 is active, you can loot the 反重力背包 from it and have the jetpack for 20m. During that 20m, I usually mine for ore for around 15 minutes and use the last 5 to locate another jetpack. It was pretty easy to keep an active jetpack indefinitely through the day. Alternatively, if you have the 图纸：反重力背包, you can build your own for cheaper than fixing the 损坏的锈栓军火 and keep them in your inventory for whenever. Each time you build your own jetpacks, you get 3x. The killing of rares and looting chests usually keeps me in ample supply of the 能量电池 and 备用零件 I need to stay stocked on jetpacks.

Found a great way of obtaining it much faster then only farming. If you have character with blacksmithing, you can "convert" common 镍铜矿石 to 白金矿石 through scraping. Craft lot of 镍铜硬化臂甲 and then scrape it. You will get tons of 白金矿石 as a result.
