Stunned angry shark is an extra rare fish caught in sea waters while fishing for
Once released back into the water, you get a landlocked shark. Kill the landlocked shark and get

when killed. Note that
only has a 1 minute duration in your bags, and it will disappear if you don't use it by then!
This shark has a hard-hitting frontal AoE - as such, spawning it in water is inadvisable. Using it on land makes it much less dangerous, as it simply flops around.
There are a number of Rare fish in Legion, and items (bait or otherwise) that will help you catch them.
The Rare fish and items to catch them are zone specific (although some are obtainable on any shoreline of the Broken Isles).
There are 18 rare fish coming in Legion that can be fished up. Each rare fish grants +5 to Fishing skill when used, consuming it in the process.
There are 3 Rare fish per zone, and 3 that can be caught on any coastal waters.
These can be fished up from a Fishing skill of 1, so this can be an effective way to power level Fishing.
Catching one of the rare fish listed below while fishing will grant the achievement
. Catching them all will grant the achievement
, which is a requirement to get the
Fishing Artifact Weapon.
All Rare fish are Bind on Pickup.
If you are fishing with the
equipped, you will obtain a DIFFERENT version of each rare fish that grants Artifact Power instead of Fishing skill (e.g. you would fish up
Note that this does not retroactively apply to rare fish you obtained before getting the Artifact - the only use for these short of maxing fishing skill is vendoring for a decent chunk of change.
The Rare fish in the chart below are marked with a star (*)
Fishing Bait and Items
Some of the items that help you catch Rare fish will spawn and NPC that grants a fishing buff; others contain bait, or spawn NPCs that drop bait.
All fishing bait buffs last for 2 minutes once used (except for
, which last 5 minutes each).
All buffs last the full duration, except for
, which expires as soon as you catch a bait.
Almost all baits can be bought/sold on the Auction House. Use this if you are having trouble with a particular fish!
The exception to this is the
, which has a 1 minute duration in your inventory.
All baits are
, meaning you can only carry one. The further caveat to this is that you WILL NOT catch any bait that is currently in your inventory!
This can be used to your advantage if you are looking for a particular bait in a zone - by having certain baits in your bags, you will ensure you do not catch them again.
If you are wanting to obtain multiples of the same bait, you can put baits on the Auction House, mail them to an alt, or put them into a Guild Bank or Guild Bank Tab that only you have access to. This will allow you to catch the same bait again.
A portable mailbox like
(from the Draenor garrison Engineering Workshop) is a huge boon when doing this out in the field!
It is worthwhile saving some rare fish bait, in order to level Artifact Power on your
if and when you get it.

Is this NPC lootable by other party members?
Got this twice in about 30 casts - I ended up getting 16 of the Seabottom Squid from the 2 sharks, easiest 80 points of skill-ups ever. Just took the grind out of fishing from 700-800 for me.
Ok so a few things to be aware of... this is the only fished up Legion item with a bag Duration timer of only 1 minute. The first one I looted I was unaware and continued finishing up the surrounding pools, then when I realized it was too late. With that being said as soon as you loot it get to land, if fishing off the coast back up a bit and use the item. This will spawn the Level 100
. As his name suggests you should spawn him on land as the fight is a lot easier vs fighting him in the water. He has an AoE frontal attack that actually does a decent amount of damage, at least @ level 100.
I found these the most plentiful fishing the Black Barracuda pools on the eastern shores of Suramar, defeating the shark will award 5-7
. Which are one of the three rare fish from the coastal shores of Broken Isles.
If one wanted to get their fishing leveled quickly this would definitely be the ideal route to go. Also once the Artifact fishing pole is acquired the rare fish throw backs reward artifact power to the rod if @ max fishing, this would definitely be the quickest route for that as well.
Happy Hunting & Fish On!
After fishing this up I used it on the spot and it was tagged by a member of the opposing faction from another server.
After the kill it dropped no loot, presumably a bug but I was denied loot from my own catch. I'd advise you find a quiet spot to kill it on your own until this one is fixed.
For the first two I found upon trying to loot it has the name of some nearby player. Once was allied once was opposing faction. In both cases neither player attacked the shark. In both cases the shark never attacked anyone.
The third time I made sure I was alone. I used the shark on land and it dealt 200,000 damage to me every 0.5 seconds with bite attacks that went through evasion.
I'm at a loss for how to do this.

That... doesn't sound like the best thing to do with an angry shark...
Fished one as a lv 102 in a school of black barracudas. Released and engaged it in water. Hits for 40K physical damages at a pretty fast speed. When killed it dropped 9 squids. When used, these squids get thrown back into water, each providing 5 fishing skill points. I guess they won't fly back to the sea if you use them while being far into the lands so it probably has to be used near water.
Don't underestimate and be prepared when you release. It hits pretty hard. Almost killed my warrior.
! WARNING !
Just a heads up for some of you who, like me, have the fishing artifact (

I just fished this up last night. Pay attention, it has a one minute duration, as others have mentioned. I was on a small rock in the middle of the water, so I made a break for a bigger piece of land.
Once used, the shark stayed in one place as long as I stayed in melee range. The AoE frontal attack is a small cone, with a cast time, it's easily avoided. Just stay behind the shark and you'll never get hit, it turns really, really slowly. Circle strafe it and it's an easy kill. I could have probably killed it on the small rock I was on, but having enough room to move around a little is helpful, and probably makes it easier.
I used and killed a shark someone gave me and I didnt loot any rare fish from it at all. Maybe it has to be released near a sea zone as I released it in Valshara in the Whirlpool cave.
Next time I catch the Stunned, Angry Shark, I'm going to hearth back to Dalaran immediately and drop it in the street to see if anyone attacks it..
Works anywhere. Dropped one in an Org AH, and it killed one player before anyone realized what was happening and killed it.
Odd thing: The player being attacked didn't notice it and run away.. Assuming he was an AH bot.
Anyone having an issue getting this to drop? I've been fishing The Great Ocean for 40 minutes without success. I am using the Arcane Lure as well.
The other two ocean lures dropped without issue.
all is talking what it is, noone are saying where to get it. gg
I just fished this up tonight and a lv 101 DK attacked it when they saw it (after I already started to attack) and lets just say they got the squid and I did not.
So use this item when you're by yourself.
is there some trick to catching these. Using the lures i got every other rare fish on the 1st or 2nd cast. this one i have actually just walked around the entire continent and fished every pool along the way and not a single one.
Careful if you're near a wall/cliff/hill that you cannot climb/walk/run up - this lil' bugger has the ability to run away from you up said hill/etc. I just got my first near a hill off the coast in Azsuna and it almost got away from me - luckily it ran up to someone who happened to be standing nearby and I was able to finish it off and loot the rare. Phew!
I was fishing in eastern
on when this dropped in around 5 casts on baraccuda pools. When i clicked the shark it
disabled my transformation
which resulted in pulling the nearby mobs and dying.
After that I continued to fish in the same area for like an hour and a half in pools only, left the area, even logged out for a day, came back and ended up with nearly 200 baraccudas and
Eventually i left, went to the eastern river, the one that seperates aszuna and suramar.
Got the shark from the 3rd cast in pool.
I don't know if this is a bug or smth, but i hope you'll find it useful if you're stuck.
It's easier fighting the shark in water. Simply dive under him and use ranged attack. His damage hits only the surface. I did this as a level 103 Tankadin using Avengers Shield and Judgement (Don't know if Consecration hurts in water). The shark did not damage me. It's slow but risk free.
I was not prepared and this guy killed the !@#$ out of me.
Fished in northern Stormheim in a black barracuda pool with an Arcane Lure, got this on the first cast.
Went back to land and cleared a basilisk out of the way to get ready to fight the shark.
Looked for the shark in my bags, didn't find it... then I realized it only had a
1 minute duration
Be prepared to use this quickly when you fish one up!
They also despawn if you take to long too fight them. I had never seen this before and accidentally started with my fishing rod on. It despawned right before I would've killed it.
Can I just stun it?
Looted this while fishing
with an ocean lure already active
and went back to shore, killed it, but it didn't drop any loot at all despite having the fishing artifact equipped. Has anyone else experienced this?
Wasn't sure whether the lack of loot was because I already had a lure active, albeit the shark not actually being an actual lure itself. As technically with the other lures once you use them they override the previous lure, so you can't technically catch two different types of rare fish at the same time. Maybe the game registered that my Axefish lure was active and thus couldn't give me the squid from the shark.
Hate this thing. Fished it three times so far. First time I didn't know about the duration. Second time, I got stuck in combat and it went. Third time I DC'd.
Got this from a black barracuda school around 74.0,49.7 near Jandvik in Suramar.
Used an arcane lure
Turned around and released him on land; thankfully I was able to beat him as a 110 rouge
I fished in the Great Sea and used 10 Arcane Lures and, while the other two Ocean Rare baits dropped, the shark bait never dropped even once. I have only ever caught these from schools of Barracuda. Just my experience but has anyone else ever fished one up without being in a school?
Been fishing specifically for this lure for over 2 hours now. My fishing is level 800, I tried fishing in open oceanic water and schools of black barracuda. I used a total of 13 arcane lures for their full duration along with worm supreme and I caught 0 sharks. I got the other 2 baits within my first 30 casts but this one is nowhere to be found. My face was glued to the screen the entire time because I was aware of the 1 minute duration, I didn't miss it.
EDIT: I finally got the shark near jandvik on the east coast of suramar fishing in black barracuda schools. I got 2 messages in a bottle back to back then about 20 casts later I got the shark. If you are having trouble finding this lure try fishing around 74, 51 in suramar.
Ok, some more info on this guy:
First time I spawned him, he whipped my ass, even on land. Was not aware of how hard he hits.
Fished him up again at level 110. Observations:
Immune to slow and root.
Turns extremely slowly as mentioned and his only attack is a small frontal cone. Circle strafe this punk.
As a Mage, I did not have time to stop and cast, as he spams his attack quite frequently. I popped a Mark of Aluneth on him from a distance and then circled him and spammed Arcane Explosion. Took him down handily.
He drops multiple
, at least sometimes. My one kill of him yielded 9 squid.
DO NOT spawn him in water. He will be super-manuverable. Land lock that guy.
Second time was a charm!
TIP: If the world quest for Wild Northern Barracuda is up in Highmountain (all the way north in Rockaway Coast right next to Shipwreck Cove FP) the fishing pools here seem to stay even after you finish your WQ (they respawn very fast and you can fish 1-2 times per, very plentiful) and will give Black Barracuda which CAN drop bait I got Decayed Whale Blubber, Stunned, Angry Shark, and even the Luminous Pearl once you get to that point, as of this post Oct 7th.and then got a few Ancient Black Barracuda and Axefish from them. As a bonus, if you do not have any form of water walking
etc, the NPC
is right at the pools, and will give you a 10min water walking that doesn't break from combat.
For priests, if you summon your Shadowfiend it the shark will attempt to attack it instead of you, which makes it very easy to kill. I've fished 3 of these, 2 in the middle of Suramar City and 1 in far north Stormheim (Cove of Nashal).
Some advice for absentminded people like me who also happen to fish with a fishing rod equipped:
DON'T FORGET TO SWITCH BACK TO YOUR WEAPON BEFORE OPENING!
It took me about a minute of near death, wondering why I wasn't doing any damage before it dawned on me that I just might be whacking the shark with something other than my ilvl 875 Fangs of Ashamane...
Just fished up the
but when I checked my bags, it wasn't there. I've checked my bank and it's not there either so I didn't already have it. I've put in a ticket but this was my last fish to get
, I'm pretty annoyed now since I don't know whether I can fish another one up or if the game thinks I have one so won't let me. Do I risk wasting time trying to fish up another one or wait a day or so for the achievement? I really thought I'd get it tonight. Anyone know the answer?
If you are in a party and someone in your party fishes this up, even if you help kill the shark, you will not get any
when you loot it.
Caught one from a pool on the coast of Highmountain.
Caught mine at Cove of Nashal, coincidentally, my first cast in shark infested waters. Spent an hour prior to this with no luck.
This is currently being offered as a reward for a fishing World Quest, so if you happen to need this one you may be able to find it that way.
Just caught one in a Black Barracuda school @Azuregale Bay, Suramar
OK Heads up, there's a bug currently (at least I believe its a bug) that if you're in a group with someone else, and they're a higher level than you, even if they don't touch it at all, it's THEIR loot, not yours and you can't loot the corpse at all! Did this twice, thinking because the other person hit it first that it made it their loot, and the second time they just stood there and I still couldn't loot it. So if you're going to spawn one of these, make sure you're either the highest level in the group, or alone.
probably the only bait that you will not find in auction house, because
it remains in your bags for only 60 seconds after you have caught it, but
use it on land, do not stand in front of it
Got mine from a Black Barracuda School off Azsuna in Oceanus Cove. Note I was not in the great sea and I didn't have an Arcane Lure active (I'd been fishing with Arcane Lure on with no luck in the same area and just tried this pool before heading somewhere else).
Yet another retarded idea from Blizzard. If I wanted to fight, I would be questing, not fishing you stupid %^&*s!
It seems like they fixed the bug where the fish from this shark wouldn't give AP unless you killed it while having the fishing artifact equipped. I find the shark a relaxing way to level the artifact, just make sure to release it on land!
I caught in coastal waters off of Suramar (Azuregale Bay) at around 75,50 with Strong Fishing Pole equipped, Arcane Lure, Bright Baubles, and Oversized Lure all attached. My fishing skill was at 645. I had to get the Stunned, Angry Shark from the Black Barracuda Schools. I would suggest that anyone doing this use the addon Server Hop, otherwise you will need to fly around and find them. Also, adjust the Liquid Detail option (under Settings>System>Base Settings>Effects) to at least "Fair" otherwise it's hard to see the schools. After you get the shark, click it and it spawns on land, but as someone else mentioned, the frontal attack is pretty dangerous, so kite him around until you kill it (I had no problem doing this on my Holy spec'ed Priest at level 110, ilvl 829). Good Luck all!
This one has always taken the longest for me. I advise doing your fishing for him during Impus Fisher Friends day. If it really does take forever, you will eventually have enough rep just to buy one...
First cast in a Black Barracuda School, Stormheim 41.62, 16.60. Don't know if it was luck or if this may help anyone but at least there don't seem to be any hostile mobs around.
I just fished up two of these within 5 casts of each other in a Black Barracuda school in Suramar around 84, 64.
Just join a Fisher Friend Impus raid, I got 14 of these sharks in a 2hr span while getting my Best Friend with Impus.
I was fishing for hours on end trying to get this thing. Went around the back of Black Rook and got it in 3 casts.
Fished it up today from a in Azuregale Bay from a Black Barracuda school. Already had the achievement so I hearthed and tried to bank/AH/mail it.
All three options generate an error message telling you that you can't do that with limited-duration items.
Hopefully you are reading this comment before you caught the shark because if you are reading this comment and you already caught it chances are it has already disappeared from your bags. IT ONLY LASTS FOR 1 MINUTE!
I had been trying to fish up the stunned angry shark for about an hour.. I started flying around and decided to fish in a pool located at 62, 31 in stormheim and I got it on my second cast. Coincidentally I was surrounded by a bunch of
s. Maybe I fished up one of them.
Just caught a Stunned, Angry Shark on my level 17 mage, but couldn't loot it since it still is on the old scaling.
Blizzard needs to fix this, or is it intended, even with Chromie Time?
Got it from a Black Barracuda School In Suramar
/way 73,03 59,72
Remember to use it imidiately.
It will dissapear from your bag after 1 min.
