Why Should I Participate in Primal Storms?

If you missed your chance at crafting the 不稳定的元素汇流 Heirloom trinket during the Dragonflight Pre-Patch event, you're able to use Dragonflight Primal Invasions to craft the trinket;

You can obtain the Blue version from the Raging Tempest gear appearance. The gear also has stats and even a set bonus, but it is not recommended to use Primal Invasions as your main source of gear - The starter ilvl of 359 is already weaker than most sources of gear from before Dragonflight Season 1, and it'll only get worse with Season 1 sources of gear.

For collectors and completionists, there are achievements and even two Battle Pets (魅火 and 斯托米) and a Mount 雷革蝾螈.

There are also several profession recipes that can drop from Primal Invasion mobs:
Jewelcrafters can obtain 图鉴：元素套索, which crafts into 元素套索, a powerful necklace;

Enchanters are able to drop several weapon illusions: 公式：幻象：原始空气, 公式：幻象：原始大地, 公式：幻象：原始火焰, 公式：幻象：原始冰霜

Primal Storms BasicsStorm, Earth, Fire, and WaterThe Obsidian Throne during an Storm Primalist Invasion.

元素涌流 is the main currency that drops from Primal Invasion, dropping from almost all mobs in the invasion. Elemental Overflow is used to purchase the Rare quality (ilvl359) gear from invasions, as well as mounts and pets.

风暴徽记 is a weekly currency that can be obtained once per type of invasion per week. Storm Sigils are used to upgrade Rare-quality invasion gear into Epic quality gear (ilvl385).

2-Set: Increase your highest secondary stat by 226.

This seems cool. My only question is how long does this event last? Like how long is it going to be in the game? Will there be enough time to grind out all the currency needed to get all the goodies (Gear, pets, mount, etc). If anyone knows, Please do tell. I'd like to know what the time frame is to obtain all this stuff.

So a full set of the 385 gear will net about 80 Storm Sigils. At 4 sigils per week that's a five month farm.
I don't know, that's seems a bit much.
If Blizz sticks to the promised "More, smaller patches" then we'd probably be in another patch by the time you get a full set.

If the prices are changed to 4, 5, 6 and 10 instead, it would be about a three and a half month farm. That's still a long time, but it's a more reasonable time span.
Especially considering that the regular 359 gear is on par with gear from heroic dungeons. So doing the invasions for that gear will become meaningless fast.

The 385 gear is still worse than gear from the normal Vault of Incarnates, so I don't think it would be overpowered or anything like that. Even if someone takes the time to farm out the full set they will still be weaker than someone who does normal raids (and that player probably got their gear faster as well).

Edit: By the time I wrote this comment the article said you got 1 sigil per quest. It has since been edited to say 2 sigils per quest. Which changes the 5 month farm to a 2.5 month farm. I am more than happy with that arrangement.

Doesn't make much sense that the recipe for the Jewelcrafting neck would only be available to JCers, as this guide states. Every other recipe so far has been available for everyone regardless of profession.

As far as I've been able to tell, the formulas and recipes are only dropping off the event bosses when they spawn. I've watched HOURS of raids farming mobs and only ever see one drop shortly after a boss is killed.

Does anyone know if this tier set will work in tandem with the raid tier set? Let's say you have 2 pieces of Primal Storm gear, and 4 pieces of the Raid Tier Set. If you're, out in the open world, will you get the 2 tier set bonus for the Primal Storm gear as well as the 4 piece bonus from the Raid Tier Set?

A full set of the 359 gear will cost you 3850-3950 depending on weapon choices.

So... unless I just missed it, there was nothing said of HOW LONG these events are going to be in game for. Does anyone know how long this is going to be in the game? I'd like to obtain all the goodies but I don't know if I'll have the time to pull it off. If anyone knows, please let me know... thanks!

This is a relatively minor point, but I did receive a Dimmed Primeval Earth after defeating one of the "bosses" of an earth invasion at the Obsidian Citadel. I can't recall their name, but they were a Primalist with an Earth Elemental add that spawned as a star/skull icon on the minimap.

Something I don't see mentioned in the guide is the events are a source of profession knowledge (at least for enchanting). Items such as 冰霜微光 have a small chance to drop from enemies, and this gave me 3 profession knowledge per drop. Each elemental storm had a different item associated with it.

I could be mistaken, but I have not seen a single Primal Earth Storm occur in Ohn'ahran Plains since the storm events were implemented. I have sat in the zone every day, just waiting and constantly refreshing Group Finder, hoping someone would post one, but without any luck. Anyone else have this issue with any of the storms?

I'm kind of confused when it comes to those bosses, what it takes for these bosses (such as Karantun) to spawn?
do they randomly spawn?is the spawn timed? do we need to grind mobs for them to spawn?
How many of those bosses spawn per Storm? are they loot locked? for how long?

When you mouse over the elemental storm symbol on the map, the tooltip states what type of storm it is, and this is my issue. The four types are firestorm, sandstorm, thunderstorm, and snowstorm. It's not a problem determining which elements the firestorm and sandstorm are; fire and earth. But thunderstorm and snowstorm? It's anybody's guess as to which one is air and which one is water. Turns out thunderstorm is air and snowstorm is water. They need to rename thunderstorm to "windstorm" and snowstorm to thunderstorm. That is far more logical than tying thunderstorm to air.

So the mobs you need to kill are any mobs in the area that have a 'Elemental <element name> Storm' buff on them (for instance ). So they are not specifially elementals.

(This is not mentioned in the guide and has been confusing at least some people.)

So when I check the map I sometimes a handful of storms in different places. Fire and earth are easy to recognize as they're red/yellow and brown. Pretty obvious. :)

But air and water? What is what? I guess that a cyan/blue'ish icon on the map is water. And the white/darkblue/grey is wind? Is that correct?

I only need the sigil quest from water this week so I have farmed the cyan storm - without any drop of a sigil quest.

Quickest & easiest way to check which ones you've done so far this week is with a macro such as:

Seems like an ok way to casually gear up alts if you aren't big on dungeons. I just wish there were more things to spend the currency on, like rep tokens or crafting materials you could put on the auction house.

Does anybody know - can you buy 2 of the same weapon and equip them both? They don't seem to be unique. I wanted get 2 of the axes for my Rogue, but I wanted to check here before wasting my currency in the game.

Edit: bc there is a bug at the moment as of January 2023, if you try to get 2 of the 狂怒风暴切斧Hacker of the Raging Tempests, where it will upgrade your existing one instead of the 2nd one you purchase - I found a workaround. Put your current one in the bank. Then buy the blue item to upgrade to that, and it will work - and you can equip 2 at the same time, bc they are not unique. :)

The gear changed on the vendor the blue gear now has upgrade 1 of 2 how do we upgrade the blues sense the other vendor no longer has the 385 gear.
